  1. Interestingly, I've worked out the odds of my crystal ball prediction being correct as exactly 1 chance in 100. That would be in a fair random draw of course. Any mathematician out there care to check it for me? Its a long time since I did permutations and combinations! I may try and get bookie odds in the morning and risk a couple of quid on it.
  2. I've looked in crystal ball ICT v Berwick/Spartans Dundee Utd v Celtic Falkirk v Hibs Raith v QOS Will that do us?
  3. Apart from Rooney's goal there were :- EL1 Felipe Morais (Port Vale 2 - Bradford 2) SL2 Dennis Wyness and Shane Sutherland ( Elgin 2 - Albion 0)
  4. Agree with IHE's summary. It was definitely a game of two halves. Magnificent first half where we could have scored 5. Wasn't sure if it was our planned tactics in the second half to let Partick have so much of the ball and come at us all the time, or whether it was just Partick being so much sharper after the break. Either way, it certainly led to a nervy second half. Fortunately the defence held firm, with Esson making some critical saves. It reminded me of what a good keeper he was/is. Looking forward to an 'easier' draw in quarters. As others have said, Berwick/Spartans at home would be good. All in all a great day out with an excellent result. Onwards and upwards!
  5. If that is how you meant it, perhaps it would have been better to say " we could have been 11 points worse off" rather than "we would have been 11 points worse off"
  6. I think it is time we took stock and analysed what happened here. Nobody died! But reading some of the near hysteria on this thread, one would be forgiven in thinking someone had died! We lost our striker in the transfer window, probably a few months earlier than we expected him to go. A striker by the way, who apart from in the last few games, had scored precious few goals in all of 2014. Yet we still managed to achieve a good league position in 2013/14, and are on track to better that in 2014/15. No doubt I'll be branded a 'happy clapper' for even suggesting this is still possible. A lot has been talked about contingency plans. Maybe there was a plan to get a replacement in before the window. I don't know. Maybe Yogi expects Foran to play a part before the end of the season, and/or he feels there is sufficient talent in the squad to cope without Mckay. One thing I was surprised about was letting Mckay's cover, Sekajja, go a few weeks before Mckay. To me this reinforces my view that Mckay moving in the window was unexpected. But it is clearly down to Yogi now to manage the resources he has to ensure we maintain momentum for the rest of the season. That is how we will judge him, and I, for one, expect him to succeed. Looking to the future (next season onwards) it is clear that significant effort is required by the club to ensure that at least Meekings and Raven stay. Hopefully Watkins too. I think losing two stalwarts from the defence would be an even bigger challenge for us than losing Mckay. Anyway, onwards and upwards, starting with a good cup win at Partick on Saturday. See some of you there!
  7. Not that it matters greatly, but are you sure about Rory scoring today? Not according to BBC website!
  8. Not surprised he is leaving after all the speculation, but I am surprised he is not going south. I suppose we have to wish him well, except of course when he plays against us.
  9. Another great result. First half sounded a bit dull, even though we bossed possession. But we came good in second half, with plenty shots on target and of course, the two goals. It will be difficult to stop many of us start to dream of European football now! Five out of five wins in January, magnificent! One more to go next Saturday for total January clean sweep. Can't be anyone but Yogi for Manager of month.
  10. Own goal apparently, but I'm not proud! Let's consolidate now lads with another.
  11. Looking forward to seeing a full match report from someone who was there. I see Nick Ross is collecting most of the votes in the MOM thread. Well done to him. Good to see him starting as opposed to his sub role of late. Just noticed that we got no yellow cards last night. Quite an achievement these days when they seem to be dished out often, even for minimal contact tackles. I'm too lazy to check back all our match reports, but I'd guess that is our first yellow card free outing for quite a long time.
  12. Great result, and a decent crowd for a cold Tuesday night in Jan. I imagine the directors will see the 'pay what you can' experiment as being successful. Well done to them for showing initiative. But the biggest plaudits are to Yogi and the team. A clear 3rd in the SPFL is no more than we deserve. What a great 2015 it has been so far. Roll on Saturday.
  13. I'm with ICTRoughi and Sneckboy on this. I didn't like Shinnie at right back in the few games he played there last season. So Meekings to right back with Devine replacing him alongside Warren, seems the best option for me. However, as long as Yogi fields a winning side, I'll be happy!
  14. Sat 17 Jan 2-015 Scottish League 1 Rory McAllister (Peterhead 2 Stirling 1) Brian Gilfilan (Dunfermline 2 Airdrieonians 2)
  15. Yes, I can't help feeling that, if the game goes ahead, the adverse weather will scupper any benefit that this bold venture might have produced. A great pity, as it would have been good to see if the initiative had a positive effect on attendance. However, ICT must have known when they announced the trial several weeks ago that the weather in third week of January could have a detrimental effect. Perhaps it should be tried again, but much earlier, next season.
  16. What a great result. I thought it was all over when I heard we went one down and Raven off. That win, showing real bottle, should give us a real boost. Well done to all concerned. Deservedly up to 3rd at the moment.
  17. Think he trained with us for a couple of weeks whilst staying with family up here. Don't think it was ever with intention of signing him. There was talk of Hughes trying to get him on a short term deal IIRC. Asking him to play for free for a bit was quoted as well I think. Doughnut get me wrong, but expecting him to play for free is pie in the sky!
  18. 4th Jan SPFL Two for Adam Rooney for Aberdeen at Motherwell. 3rd Jan SL1 One for Rory McAllister for Peterhead at Dunfermline EL2 One for Tom Aldred for Accrington at Exeter
  19. Just watched the highlights. Neat goal by Billy after great work by Tansey and, especially Raven. Hopefully that will help improve Billy's confidence to get him back to his best soon. He does seem to need a lot more chances per goal scored this season, as evidenced by the 'one on one sitter' he missed in the first half. However, a win is a win and another 3 points in the bag. That'll do for me.
  20. A few more goals would have been nice, but a good 3 points keeps us in touch with the leaders. Well done everybody.
  21. Well, I'm delighted with that win in what could easily have been another banana skin for us. Well done to Doran. I thought he was really poor against Aberdeen, and would have left him out today. Well done to Yogi too for sticking with him. Does my Gringo's prediction league no harm either! Onwards and upwards! I know all the other top 6 contenders also won today, but we can't control that, so as long as we have a nice wee run of wins now to balance the 3 defeats, we should be ok. Well done everybody.
  22. Just noticed these from 28 Dec. Bryan Prunty, two for Airdrieonians v Ayr Denis Wyness, one for Elgin at Montrose.
  23. Very disappointing. Did Brill have any saves to make? Their keeper, on the other hand, saved them a number of times. Created enough chances to win the game comfortably. I agree with those who say we left our subs until too late in the game. Doran offered nothing and should have been off shortly after half time. Watkins too never got into the game. December has been our undoing again. Lets hope we can pick up our winning ways again next Thursday.
  24. No reason why we can't win this. We have been far better since giving away that soft goal. Come on lads, you can do it.
