  1. Another good nostalgic film. It is before my time at the Academy so I didn't recognise any of the pupils. But quite a few teachers (and the headmaster) feature. Don't remember seeing David Thom in a kilt before. I always got on well with him, as he was the cricket master (as well as Latin) throughout my six years.
  2. Sometimes I think football was better without live televised matches. I know it is a lifesaver revenue stream to many clubs, and I must admit I enjoy seeing ICT on the box if it is a game I can't get to (like against Aberdeen next Monday). But for long distance supporters it can be a real pain. In this instance (and many others) I cannot make any travel plans probably for another week (after the replays) when the TV companies decide who they want to cover. Every day that passes flight costs increase and flight availability diminishes. Even parking charges at airports can increase the nearer to the flight date one books. Apart from the cost there can be other problems like getting a match ticket posted out in time if there is only a few days to do it in. It was all a lot easier when you knew the match was going to be at 3pm on a Saturday. Ah, the good old days!
  3. Well done TBB. I'm pleased that my memory of those I identified in earlier posts has proved to be accurate. A great Caley side, only surpassed by the 'all conquering' one of a couple of years later, by which time I was a regular attender at Telford Street.
  4. I wonder if we even tried for him. Surely if we were interested we could have matched what a Conference side were offering him Unless he didn't want to come this far north of course..
  5. Well done to Shane. Slightly older news, which I don't think has been reported on our forum, is that Tom Aldred (The Tank) of Blackpool won the PFA Fans' Player of the month in December for English League 1.
  6. After another look, I'm pretty sure Caley no. 9 is 'Joopy' Mitchell. Didn't see much of him in the match, but saw him get his medal and then stand next to Peter McKinnon. Clach players are harder to recognize with no numbers to jog my memory, but their goalie is short enough to be the legendary 'Eck' MacDougal. 'Eck' was father of Ted MacDougal (man of many clubs from mid 60s to mid 80s and probably best remembered for scoring 9 goals in one game for Bournemouth!)
  7. What fabulous memories. That is not long before I started watching Caley as a wee boy!. Recognized quite a few players, Bobby Bolt (8), 'Ginger' McKenzie (10), Willie Bruce (goalie), Peter McKinnon. Will watch it a few more times and maybe I'll be able to put names to some more, even some Clach ones. And what about the crowd? Several thousand packed into Telford Street. Thanks for posting it, Sneckboy. Made my day.
  8. Yes, after waking up a bit, I've worked out the logic which shows Yngwie is correct with 105. I think!
  9. How about a little head scratching to wake us up this Monday morning. What are the odds of Sneckboy's suggested draw coming to pass? I reckon that for the draw to happen precisely in the order shown the chances would be 1 in 40320 (Factorial 8). But for the 4 derbies to be drawn (counting 'Edinburgh' v Morton as a derby), in any order, with either side being at home, the odds reduce considerably. I make it 1 in 2520. Anyone want to confirm that before I get down to the bookies?
  10. 7 Feb 2016 The Barnsley regular scoring duo of Sam Winnall and Marley Watkins, were again on target today (once each) in their 3-0 win over Bury.
  11. Great goal by Roberts, worthy of winning any game. We do seem to have scored some crackers from that distance this season. Tansey, Polworth and now Roberts all spring to mind. Long may it continue!
  12. Sat 6 Feb 2016 Scot Premier A Rooney (2) (St Johnstone 3 - Aberdeen 4) SL 1 S Sutherland, R McAllister (Ayr 1 - Peterhead 2) Welsh Cup J Oswell (Newtown 6 - Cefn Druids 0) Highland League Cup D Gillespie, A Greig, Z Sutherland (Brora R 4 - Inverurie 1) G Wood (2) (Buckie 1 - Formantine 3)
  13. Wow. How fantastic is that ? And what a time for Roberts to score his first goal for us. Well done to him and the whole team. The dream lives on....
  14. I wonder how hard we tried to get him back, if at all. Alas, he was always likely to 'follow the money'.
  15. H/T 1-1 F/T 2-3 ICT Tansey 'Well McDonald Time 17
  16. The Johnstone Paint trophy final at Wembley on 3 April will feature no less than 3 ex ICT players. Alex MacDonald for Oxford Utd, plus Sam Winnall and Marley Watkins for Barnsley, should all feature. We know that Watkins should not suffer from stage fright on this big occasion, after his exploits at Hampden less than a year earlier. Good luck to all three of them.
  17. Agreed, let us all be pleased that he will be with us at least until the next window. The professional way he has conducted himself this week, since the furore, indicates that he is at least content to be still with us. Good news. Hope he celebrates with a trade mark, thunderbolt goal (or more), against 'Well on Saturday.
  18. 3 Feb 2016 Johnny Hayes in tonight's 2-1 victory for Aberdeen against Celtic
  19. Yes, well done to the club in not letting themselves be 'rolled over' by Aberdeen if the proposed deal was not right for us. Doubt if we will ever know for sure whether it was just the 'release clause' issue or not. There have been hints by other posters that Tansey will now be thoroughly unsettled, and even that he might not play for us again. I would be amazed if his own professional pride let the situation degenerate to that level. He is not the first footballer, nor will he be the last, to fail to get a move to a bigger club when negotiations between the clubs come to stalemate (the John Stones Everton/Chelsea saga as an example). Surely Tansey will just buckle down, play to his best ability and make himself an even better prospect for bigger clubs in the summer. Good luck to him.
  20. So now we still have Tansey(good news), plus another midfielder, Williams, (presumably brought in because the board expected Tansey to go), and possibly even another midfielder, Hughes. But still no sign of another goal scorer. Strange goings on! But I suppose there is still more than an hour to go!
  21. Yes, I know it is still just a rumour, but Goodwillie would be much better than Robson as compensation if Tansey goes.
  22. Why don't we just merge with Aberdeen and play all our home games at Elgin?
  23. Well done Nod for spotting this. I did notice that they had won 2-0 on Saturday evening, but at that point the scorers were not showing on Soccerway.
  24. Would this post not be more relevant to the main ICT thread, as it relates directly to the club and supporters? Re the ban, I would want to know much more about how it came about, and both sides of the argument before commenting on whether it is justified or not. I sat in the next section to the youngsters at the Stirling away game referred to, at least in the first half, before they all moved down to the other end after half time. And a truly fine job they made by singing their hearts out right through the game. As the lad says, undoubtedly it helps create a good atmosphere, and all credit to them for that. Whether I'd like to be in the limited space of a bus for three hours while they were singing with that intensity is another matter. Maybe there is a time and a place for everything?
  25. Really great that the Highlands' 'wee team' put paid to Celtic's hopes of a treble. Didn't something similar happen to the poor lads last year too? The churlish inner me sort of hopes County don't win the final, but in another way it would be great for the Highlands if they did, especially, as another poster said, if Peterhead made it a trio of Cups coming north. So good luck to Peterhead too.
