  1. I echo the sentiments expressed by Davie in the opening post, and I'd just like to wish the team and management all the best for this crucial game. I'd have liked to be there but I'm off on a golf trip early Monday, so just couldn't get back down here in time. Nevertheless, rest assured I and a few local ICT convertees will be having our own 'beach party' in our favoutite pub, and roaring the boys on watching it on Sky. Hoping for a great result without the need for 'Well helping us out.
  2. Yes, a shame he didn't get a few minutes. But he must be chuffed, as I am, that his side got a thoroughly deserved victory in the FA Cup final. A true victory for the underdog, and keeps the 'romance' of cup competitions alive. I just hope Wigan can now pull off another miracle by winning their two last league matches and stay in the EPL, hopefully at the expense of Newcastle.
  3. I notice Golobart is on the subs bench for Wigan in the FA Cup Final this evening. Good luck to him. Hope he gets on for a few minutes at least.
  4. ffs. All that possession and chances and we still manage to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. It would be sweet to 'do it in style' with a win on the beach next week, but I'd like to see 'Well take a point of both County tomorrow and St J next week, just in case! We do really like to do things the hard way.
  5. I know what you mean, and I'm 600 miles away! There are still quite a few combinations of results which could see us into Europe. The most satisfying of course will be a handsome win against DU this afternoon. So good luck lads. I can safely say if we make Europe that this season will have been the most rewarding of all my 60 years watching Caley/ICT.
  6. Don't think Everton are the type of club to have someone like Lennon. But, back on topic, no surprise that Moyes has gone to MU. He has obviously been favourite for it for years. Interesting that Fergie's retirement coincides exactly with Moyes's contract terminating at Everton. No compensation! Shrewd! I wonder when Moyes was tipped the wink, and so avoided renewing his Everton contract?
  7. Don't be so negative. If we beat Dundee Utd and Celtic beat St J next week then the 2 matches Motherwell have will have no bearing on whether we are 3rd, 4th or 5th. However, if County and St J both beat Motherwell and we win our two remaining games, we could still get 2nd spot on goal difference. I like your thinking DD. I'd worked that out too, but we'll need 2 huge wins to overturn 'Wells current goal difference advantage.
  8. Woken up this morning still chuffed to bits with that result. I have a question or two. Why was Tudor-Jones left out? Did he have a niggling injury, or was it purely tactical? Why was Hogg allowed to play after being sent off mid week in under 20s? And what a return to first team football he had by all accounts. Good on him. I hope we extend his contract again. Just listened to McCall's post match interview. Really gracious in defeat and no whining about the penalty or red card. Top man. Hope we can play like that again next week, and who knows, it could be an even bigger celebration then if other results help us out. But, its good to know that Europe is in our own hands. I'm sure we will not let it slip away.
  9. What a result. I think it is just as well I was stuck in the car all afternoon. I don't think my old heart would have coped with listening to it live. A massive 'thank you' to everyone concerned in a magnificent victory, surely the best of the season. Europe is still in our own hands, and a big step closer. Can't wait for the highlights.
  10. Yes, a win today against 'Well would certainly take a bit of pressure off the final 2 games. I, for one, would not like to go to Dingwall having to win to have any chance of Europe, and maybe also relying on others losing. So good luck to the lads today. I'm going to be stuck in the car most of the afternoon trudging over to Essex, round the M25, for a family do. Probably won't get MFR in the car either.
  11. Maybe we should play Reguero and Esson!!!
  12. That's a real blow. He has been great all season. Easy to say that he was rushed back from injury too early, but I'm sure he, himself, thought he was ready to play at Parkhead. At least we have an able defender in Devine to replace him for the last 4 games.
  13. Yes, great result for us in Perth. It is in our own hands now. Get your passports ready.
  14. Outplayed in second half I'm afraid. Not good for the goal difference, although Doran's late consolation (a well worked goal btw) helps a tad. Could so with a draw at Perth today!
  15. Loads of Tic possession, but apart from a couple of loose pass backs, we haven't looked in great trouble. Brilliant saving tackle from Meekings on the stroke of half time. Keep it up lads, we can nick this.
  16. Yes, well done to him. He has come on leaps and bounds since joining us.
  17. I'm sure I'm not alone in thinking Ryan Esson should still be ICT's no 1 keeper
  18. Great result. I look forward to seeing the details in due course.
  19. Thought I'd add my tuppence worth, in support of Rasczak who'd got it largely correct in post 16, despite PMF's subsequent protestations. There are a number of situations whereby County could still lose out on 6th spot at the split :- 1)County lose to Hearts leaving them on 45. Then Killie win their two outstanding games to get to 47, and Dundee Utd win their two outanding games getting them to 46, then St. J beat us getting them to 47. 2)Same as no 1) except we draw with St J leaving St J with 45, the same as County. Then it would be down to GD between St J and County, which could go either way. 3) County lose to Hearts leaving them on 45. Dundee Utd win their next two games getting them to 46. St J beat ICT getting them to 47. Killie take 4 points from their two games getting them to 45. Then Killie would get 6th on GD. 4) County draw with Hearts getting them to 46. Killie win their two games getting them to 47. St J beat ICT getting them to 47. Dundee Utd win their two games getting them to 46. Then 6th would be on GD between County and Dundee Utd. Admittedly County have a superior GD at the moment, but a bad loss for them and two good wins for Utd would make it very close. So, it is still very much up in the air as to whether 'the shadows' join us in top 6. Personally, I hope they do.
  20. Enjoyed the game yesterday. Thought first half was pretty even but we shaded the second half. Hibs had plenty possession but apart from a flurry of corners in the last 5 minutes, never really looked threatening. Our defence was solid, even without Warren, and I thought G Shinnie had one of his best games for us and should have been MOM. McKay put his usual shift in of 100% effort, and all in all, I was delighted with the team's performance. Enjoyed Tel joining in with some of the players for his post match celebration.
  21. Flight booked. Hope to get to the Iona pre match.
  22. Assuming the Soccerbase stats to be correct I've compiled a comparisson of both keepers. Last weeks County game is excluded because both keepers are credited with it. Tony, Played 20. Wins 11. Draws 6. Shutouts 6 Ryan, Played 17. Wins 1. Draws 10. Shutouts 3 Ryan has been very good for us but his injury this season is puting doubt in my mind that he can sustain No1 next season. I do, however, see him as a good standby and help to the No1 choice and I think Tony is just coming onto top form now and we should try and keep him as the No1 with Ryan there to keep him tip top. These stats are meaningless. They don't mean that Reguero was responsible for all the wins when he played, nor that Esson was responsible for all the defeats when he played. Esson has deservedly been number one for two or three seasons, and in my eyes should retain this position next season. I still hope we can retain Reguero though, but as a great back up for Esson.
