Compliance Officer / Justice for Meekings
Caley Mad In Berks replied to RossP's topic in Caley Thistle
Or, make him captain in the last league game at Celtic Park. That will really get them going! Mind you, there will be precious few ICT fans there to watch the fun. I can't imagine, after the way Celtic have acted, that many of us will darken their door again. -

No doubt the next thing will be, on the strength of this, Celtic pushing for the game to be replayed!!!! What an absolute joke. -

How utterly ridiculous. If that handball was deliberate the man must have the reactions of a superman. It all happened in a split second. Of course we should defend it. How can anyone with a brain prove it was deliberate? -

Pity, I'd have liked it to be a conspiracy. -

All this talk of Compliance officer investigations and Celtic writing to the SFA etc is just, as we all know, sour grapes by the remaining ugly sister. DON'T let it take the shine off one of the best days in our short history. I believe that the next few weeks will see us consolidate our 3rd place league position, win the Cup and stride proudly into Europe where, I am confident, we will do ourselves, and Scotland, proud. Believe. -

I too think that Ofere looks like a good signing. I like him more everytime I see him. Took his goal well yesterday, and got himself in the right position for one or two more. Plus, as others have said, his hold up play is good. When fully match fit he will be a problem for many defences. A goal a game for the 7 matches will be just right! -

Just watched the BBC highlights on catch up. What magnificent football by us for that winning goal. Worthy of winning any match. Obviously the highlights confirm that we were lucky to get away with Meekings' hand ball. But they also show that we were denied a clear penalty too when the sub keeker clattered into the back of Ofere with the ball nowhere near. They also show that both free kicks from which Celtic scored were soft. I thought this at the time and the highlights confirm it. There was minimal contact by Warren for the first one. The Celtic forward had lost control of the ball and 'bought' the free kick. For the second one, Nick Ross clearly won the ball fairly. Neither he nor Warren deserved yellow cards. So I have no sympathy with all the Celtic whingers. Onwards and upwards! -

Got home at midnight after just about the best ever away day. Can't say enough about the performance of the team. I'm so proud of all of them, and for Dave the Rave to get the winner is just the icing on the cake. So hard to pick a MOM but, if I had to, I think Watkins would shade it from a long list of contenders. The stewards were idiots trying to stamp their authority over a group of our young supporters near me who were only enjoying themselves. Unfortunately at least two lads were ejected. A blind man could see that the lads were not going to be trouble, but the stewards just had to wade in and try and show who was boss. They don't do it when there are two thousand 'Tic fans standing for the whole match in our away end! On a personal note it was good to put faces to some more forum members (Top Six and Alternate Maryhill for two), who Eagle for Caley and I met in George square and travelled to the match with, via the Clockwork Beer Co pub. Well done to that pub and to whoever organised it to be open for us. It seemed to be exclusively an ICT pub for that hour or so before the game. Will definitely use it again for the final. And finally, before going to the airport, great to round off the evening with Gringo, Mrs G and Eagle in the Crystal Palace boozer near Central near Central station. Quite appropriate for Eagle as his 'wee team' is CP. Another day to live long in the memory following our remarkable team. -
John Barnes, my part in his downfall

However one tries to make allowances, the fact remains he was a crap manager. End of! -
Well said davie. Great post. I know there are others coming up from southern Englandshire for this (despite the ludicrous kick off time), and I'm sure we're all buzzing, like you. So much so that this morning I actually looked at flights for the cup final day (30 May). Nothing like planning ahead! Really looking forward to being in Hampden again even though some say it might be half full and lacking atmosphere. Not for us true ICT supporters it won't. Bring it on.

Mid 50s before there was a TV in our house too, SP. I seem to remember some of the 'rich' families getting one for the Queen's coronation in 53. SP, did you pick up those wireless programmes on your crystal set?

Great point, well deserved. A special pat on the back to Esson who has had a lot of folks on here on his case recently. Looks as he'll be our keeper for rest of season now. But overall, a good performance from the team as a whole. We harried Celtic from the off, giving them little time to settle, ok giving away a lot of fouls (and needless yellow cards) in the process, but nevertheless keeping them at bay when it mattered. Very encouraging for next week. I'm looking forward to it already. See some of you there. -

Were we undefeated at home in the league that year?

One of the true cricketing greats. There was a very good tribute to him on Talksport this morning by Jack Bannister.

Good! Maybe the new boss will perhaps include Billy in the match-day squad or even give him a first start?! I'd like to see him get a start all right. He has not even been on the bench lately. Not sure it will happen though. Wigan are not short of strikers. Only trouble is they don't score!

My fault! I only looked at the possession stat earlier (54% to Dundee). The others did show we had majority of shots, shots on target and corners. -

I was out of the country for most of March with little internet access. So, I was unaware that Esson had retained his place in the team. Is this now on merit, or is Brill's injury worse than expected? Although he was on the bench today. I always did like Esson and thought he was hard done by to lose his place to Brill in the first place. -

Where is everyone? Don't ever remember an ICT game finishing with absolutely no posts on this thread. Anyway, lucky to get a draw today according to the stats, but I look forward to the comments from those at the game. A good favour by County today though. What form they're in at the moment. If we'd collected as many points as they have done over the last couple of months, we'd be challenging Celtic. A couple of tough games coming up before the s/f. I think I'd settle for a couple of draws, but obviously hoping for more. -

I agree with OCG. Cork, or for that matter, any other Irish club would be just great.
