Also, on Fri 14 Nov :- Another for Sam Winnal in Barnsley's 3-2 win over Colchester

Shouldn't this topic be in Rumour section, at least for now? But, if it is true, nobody at IICT, management or fans, can really blame him. He sees his brother earning probably 4 or 5 times what he does for being little more than an occasional starter at Brum. He is not getting any younger so it would be natural for him to want to maximise his earnings over the next few years. Good luck to him.

With 2014 being 100 years since the start of WW1 and 70 years since the D-day landings, Armistice day this year seems even more poignant. My son has written this poem to mark the occasion. It seems to be receiving good reviews with his Facebook following, so I have, with his permission, reproduced it here. One hundred years of war by Al Stewart, 2014 One hundred war-torn years ago A million boys I did not know Who'd never held a gun before Stood side by side and went to war They did not know the reasons why Yet there they stood, prepared to die Arm in arm and hand in hand For this great green and pleasant land For four long years they fought their cause In this; the war to end all wars That man would go to war again Seemed unimaginable then But in the next one hundred years The world would shed more blood and tears Millions more laid down their lives Sons and daughters, husbands, wives We'll never know how many perished Folk who once were loved and cherished Plain white crosses without names Memories in picture frames So testament to all that violence Standing side by side in silence On this day of deep regret We honour them: Lest we forget

Excellent result for many reasons - Winning a match where we went a goal down - Converting 60% possession into a few goals - Billy scoring again - Puts us top of the league Well done to all concerned! -

Scottish Cup 2014/15 - Fourth Round (last 32)

Not the draw many of would have picked! But, at least it is a match I can make. Assuming that is that it will be on the Saturaday (29 Nov). -

You're joking right? No, I wasn't joking RIG. The facts speak for themselves. Billy's goals dried up long before the end of last season, and this season have been negligible. This from a striker who many on here were valuing in the millions this time last year (I wasn't one of them; were you?). I don't deny that he still puts a lot of effort in, but his finishing is just not up to the mark at the moment. That's why I thought a couple of games at a lower level might just be the spur he needs to refind his scoring touch. Your loyalty to him is touching, so what is your solution? To me it seems you advocate just sitting it out and hope things take a turn for the better. -

Yes, I was quite surprised to see that the highlights indicated that we gave them a bit of a roasting in the second half. Really unlucky not to convert at least a couple of these chances. Poor Billy, if he were operating at even 75% of his ability, he would have had a good handful of goals in recent weeks. It is now quite embarrassing. I really think he needs a spell with the youngsters in Development league. -

Trying just to contain Celtic rarely works. Wonder if we'll change the system and give it a real go in the last half hour? -
Old Highland League days....
Caley Mad In Berks replied to Tichy_Blacks_Back's topic in Olde Inverness
Certainly can't be much later than 1952. That is Roddy McLean as captain introducing the team to the 'kiltie'. He must have retired in the early 50s. I can't put a name to the player on the end of the line, although I feel I should remember him. Any ideas? I'll answer my own question. Just remembered, the player at the end is Patty Donnachie, a more than useful left winger. -

I actually thought his latest one, post Dundee Utd, was rather good.

I would doubt that there has been any serious falling out between Hughes and Doran. Is it not just a symptom of the stronger squad we have built that there is real competition for places. Vincent, Ross, Williams don't feature 100% of the time either, but it certainly gives us a strong bench, and more options when the likes of them, including Doran, are available to come on as subs. -

Yes, I'm inclined to agree with ICTRoughi. One goal in 11 starts is not just a slump in form, it indicates to me that his confidence is completely shot away. Would resting him help him get it back? I rather doubt it, but at the end of the day, we need someone scoring up front, so I say give Sekajja a chance for a couple of games to see what he can do. -

I'm happy with that. Yes, a few more goals would be nice, but at least we're not conceding many. Another 3 points and second place. Can't ask for much more than that. Well done lads! -

Excellent win, well done lads. Good performance to hang on for win after being down to 10 for most of second half. Looking forward to hearing from those at game if all these yellow cards were justified. Anyway, a very welcome 3 points which maintains our 3rd place. -
As poor as Aberdeen were, they still missed some good goal scoring chances, for instance, two 'one on one' chances with the goalkeeper in the first half alone. I thought it interesting to watch the performances of our 4 old boys on display, Robson, Hayes, Rooney and Imrie. For me, Imrie was head and shoulders above the other three, and is clearly an important cog in Hamilton's system.

Is Drax still in charge at Maidenhead Utd? I've not been to York Road this season but I usually take in a game or two. When you next planning a visit? Yes, Drax is still in charge there. I think he has been close to the exit door a few times, but hangs on in there. I haven't been there for 2 or 3 seasons, but if you have definite plans to go sometime this season I'd be happy to meet you there. Drop me a PM nearer the time.

I see DJ Campbell is now playing for my closest Conference South team, Maidenhead United, and has scored 3 in 3 games so far. He was with Blackburn in the Championship last season, and it is only two or three years since he was scoring regularly for Blackpool, in the Premiership. Apparently he was, wrongly, accused of being involved in a 'spot fixing' scam at the start of 2014, but has recently been 'cleared' with no charges against him. He was released by Blackburn two or three months ago, and was thinking of retiring, when he was approached by Maidenhead, whose manager used to manage him at Yeading ten years ago when he was a prolific scorer in non league football, before his 'overnight' success at the highest levels . Might be worth keeping an eye on.

Just got back from watching it on TV with a couple of friends. I think they were embarrassed for me in the first half. We could and probably should have been 3 or 4 down by half time, but for Brill. When are going to learn to pass the ball back properly? Twice Draper sold Brill short again today. Where was Meekings for their goal? I'll tell you, about two yards behind the man he should have been marking, ie their scorer. Much better for most of the second half. We created enough chances to win, but Mark Brown was magnificent. Some great classy touches from Christie. Pass marks too to Watkins, Brill and Tansey. I thought Doran looked unhappy about being subbed (immediately after a good attacking run by him), but to be fair, Williams did ok in the 20 mins or so he was on. Well done to Hamilton. Ever since we gubbed them in the first match they have been great. We'll have to whack them again when we play them athome to ensure we stay in touch with them. Terrific to see Celtic no better than mid table. Long may it continue.- 92 replies
