  1. Just watched it all on Sky. Can't complain with result. We were hardly in it in second half, against a distinctly average Celtic side. I think we only had one proper shot at goal all game. Surprised Ross was first to be hooked. He looked as good as we had there today. Horrible errors from Tokely for the 1st goal and again a few minutes later for almost another one. Perhaps Tuffey could have done better for the 1st goal, but he was surprised by the ferocity of the shot, and it did take a vicious late swerve.. Having said that, I have never believed dropping Esson for cup matches was sensible. Not many heros today. Gillet, after a run of good performances, was well skinned by Samaras a number of times today. I was sorry for Proctor. It will give his army of detractors the ammunition they want. Actually, up until his mistake, and even after it I thought he was our best defender. Hayes well marked today and never in it. I can't see a queue of big teams lining up for him in the summer, if they were watching him today. We'll have to tighten up for next week to avoid a thumping at Parkhead.
  2. Disappointing. It sounded as if we had enough chances in second half to win comfortably. Still another point clear of the bottom two, and another clean sheet.
  3. Just watched the highlights. I agree with C1C3, it was never a penalty. As to him getting fined by Hearts, I think there is more chance of us winning the league!
  4. What a great result with our second team! Well done lads. It shows we have a great team spirit. Pity about Dungfarmland winning, but as long as we keep winning ours, it doesn't much matter what the rest do.
  5. Cup for me. I know we would still be 3 games away from actually winning it. But we'd only be ONE game away from another semi at Hampden. That'll do me for starters.
  6. To tune of Danny Boy Oh Johnny boy, the Gers, the Gers are calling From Ibrox Park, in good old Glasgow town They want you there, 'cos their support is falling But if you go, I'll kick your erse, you clown
  7. Just back from the pub where I watched it with two or three other Scots. Haven't read all of this thread so apologies if I am repeating anything already said. Pretty dire first half, Tuffey keeping us in it. Good substitution at half time. What a difference A Shinnie made. We controlled most of 2nd half and most of extra time. Two cracking goals by Andrew Shinnie and Tansey. Another good substitution near the end of the 90 minutes. Ross also made a difference in extra time. Didn't see the dust up between Foran and Hayes on the box. Guessing that Hayes took exception to Foran's loud mouth. Still, what a pair of plonkers! Lucky that neither of them had received a previous yellow. Several great performances tonight - Tuffey immense, more than made up for his error in first match. Tokeley excellent. Tansey excellent. Hayes excellent. A Shinnie excellent. Golobart ? I can't make my mind up, absolutely outstanding at times and then again a bomb scare at other times. All in all though, I think his brilliance outweighs his lapses. I hope his injury is not serious. On the minus side I thought that G Shinnie was poor, especially for Barrowboy's goal, and also his distribution in general. But, hey ho, a win is a win. Roll on the 'Tics.
  8. I thought he was good at Reading, but he upset the fans big time by leaving to 'better himself' at a bigger club!
  9. I think it is shocking that many of our colleague supporters seem to have such a downer on Proctor. He is an honest professional who has served ICT well for many years. Admittedly he is not first choice any more, but if he is picked for this match I am sure he will play his heart out for the team, and be just fine. I cannot think of one of our current defence who has not had at least one poor game this year,(some more than one), so why Proctor gets the stick he does is beyond me. Good luck to him.
  10. Tade's work rate is the thing that impresses me most. He must run miles in a match. That was a cracking goal on Saturday. It will do his confidence no end of good. I wouldn't be surprised that if in the Tade v Rooney debate that Tade becomes an even firmer crowd favourite than Rooney (if he isn't already). Now that he is popping a few goals in too I hope it won't be long until everyone is asking, "who was Rooney?"
  11. Yes, Gillet has been a great signing. I particularly like him when he goes forward in an attacking role. A very underrated player imo. I'm glad we've got him. Amazed that Barnet, at their humble level in Englandshire were happy to let him go. Who spotted him fior us? Was it Terry? Whoever it was, they did us a real service, and know their football.
  12. Fantastic result and a clean sheet!. Well in touch with Dons, DU, Midden and even Killie now. Well done lads.
  13. Chesterfield ffs? How can that be better for his career than us?
  14. We actually had a penalty in one of the pre season friendlies (Yeovil I think), taken very competently by Tansey. Its an interesting question as to who our penalty takers would be in the event of a penalty shoot out. Subject to them being in the team I think I'd go for Tansey, Hayes Tokeley, Gillet and Foran. As OCG said, if we were in a penalty shoot out I'd definitely want to see Esson in goal for us. After last Saturday surely there is no longer any doubt that he is our no. 1.
  15. I assume you mean packing all home supporters into Main stand and letting Celtic have both south and north. Personally I think this would totally spoil the atmosphere. I would be completely against it.
  16. Am I imagining it but have there been more controversial 'straight reds' than usual this season, in both Scotland and England? We all remember Chris Hogg's diabolical one a few weeks ago v Celtic. And yesterday, yet another debatable one for Gillet. I couldn't really tell from the highlights (should I say lowlights?) just how much contact he got on Barrowboy, but he seemed to win the ball. A red card? Surely not. Bolton had a shocker a few weeks ago too (successfully appealed I think), and just yesterday Kompany for City v United was surely not worth a red, and almost certainly put City out of the FA cup. Trouble is of course that even when successfully appealed it doesn't alter the fact that a game has been spoiled as an even contest for the paying public. And the potential loss of points for the innocent side could have, who knows, what consequences at the end of the season. I really don't know what the answer is, other than full, instant replays of every on field incident, with all the attendant problems this would bring. But surely referees at least should be held more to account when it has been proved that their over zealous decisions have been blatantly wrong.
  17. Johnny Hayes in 5th min of injury time! I'll take that. Its usually us who concede late goals. Having played over an hour with 10 men, that can't be a bad result. Well done lads.
  18. Yes, Good luck to him. He's been good for us. Wish he was staying. Interestingly I don't see him listed on the Wolves site player listings, not even as being out on loan to us!
  19. Pretty good statement. When you see everything in context it makes the postponement more understandable.
  20. I noticed that Felipe Morais got another one for Oldham in their 3-2 win v Notts County on 31 Dec.
  21. Just watched it all on Alba, without knowing the score. Two points lost in my view. Hibs were there for the taking. Apart from injury time they were never in the game. Silly free kick given away by Golobart for Hibs goal, but Esson must take some responsibility. His positioning for O'Connor's shot was abysmal, giving himself no chance. Goal of the season contender by Hayes, but why does he disappear for long periods during the game? No problem with Foran tonight, back to his best I thought. Also Gillet looked sound. Golobart gave me some worrying moments. Up front we created enough half chances to have won this game easily, but we seemed to want to walk the ball into their net. Can't help feeling disappointed with only a point from this game. But, looking on the bright side, I hadn't really realised just how poor Hibs are this season. Unless they improve dramatically, we should manage to stay ahead of them.
  22. Yes, I couldn't agree more. Its an abysmal record the Scottish players have had when they have ventured abroad in recent years. They are all quick to take the money at the beginning, but not prepared, it would seem, to put the effort in to overcome the language and cultural difficulties they meet. We've had so many failures, I'm surprised that foreign clubs even bother trying to recruit from Scotland anymore.
  23. It sounded as if we had enough chances to be 2 or 3 up before Rangers got their second against the run of play at the time. The luck clearly wasn't with us today but it was a vastly improved performance after last week's huge disappointment. We should go to Pittodrie with some confidence. I think we really must win that game to keep in touch with Aberdeen. Hibs will surely improve and I don't want this season to be a one to one clash with Dunfermline.
  24. On 'Final Score' Ryan's save has just been compared to that of Gordan Banks from Pele! Must have been a bit special. I'm already looking forward to the highlights.
  25. What has Andrew Shinnie done to warrant getting relegated to the bench?
