  1. I don't think I've ever kown a team that is so affected by the first goal. The old "first goal will be important in this game" is overused, but this season it is has been all but decisive in determining the outcome. The terrifying thing is that, when we concede an early goal, we completely collapse until at least half time (St Johnstone; 4-0, Aberdeen 4-0 down at half-time, Celtic 5-0, Dundee United, 5-0). Apart from these games, our defensive record is immense - how can that be? From memory, we've only managed to come back twice to get anything out of a game that we conceded first in this season. This issue needs to identified and rectified. I presume it's a combination of lack of tactical awareness (chasing the game too early) and evaporation of confidence (much more difficult to deal with). What is clear is, if we don't get this sorted, there's no point in watching games beyond the first goal (either way) because the result is inevitable. Thoughts?
  2. Nope. If anything, Esson might have got a game today - the old "sub goalie in cup games routine". Brill needs a confidence boost and a decent defence in front of him. Better required on Wednesday!
  3. Oh dear, oh dear. Never have I been so glad to have been running 5k instead of watching that shambles. As others have indicated: 4-4-2 wasn't for Celtic or today. The players were clearly somewhere else and lacked fight. Foran needs to go back to holding midfield. The ref had a mare and the pitch was appalling. The worst of it all is that I think we need to play our A team on Wednesday night now - we can't go into Sunday with 3 defeats on the spin or we'll have no chance. Don't know what the suspension score is, but looks like we'll be without a few now. Could it have turned out worse? No.
  4. 7000 is OK - should sell out the allocation of 7.5k, which is all we can ask. Would be great if we could also go back for more - closer to 10k would be excellent, but I doubt we'll get there with only 10 days to go.
  5. Glad I'm not a manager when it comes to team selection for this and Hibs - all are importnat for different reasons! On the one hand, you can give "fringe" players an opportunity to shine with the carrot of a place in the cup final day, on the other, you want the guys who are going to play in the final as much time together as possible.....and then there's the issue of 3 games in quick succession: fatigue and injuries..... For what it's worth, I'd do something like this for DUFC: Brill Raven Devine Meekings Shinnie Foran Tansey Doran Vincent Watkins Mckay And for Hibs: Brill Raven Devine Meekings Tremarco Foran Tansey Doran Ross Williams Watkins........don't want Shinnie or Billy getting injured!
  6. Exactly: One cup of p!ss lobbed by one numpty would be enough to spoil a great day out for a lot of people. No need for authorities to risk it IMO. With regard to sales, you have to think that they have not been as good as expected - if we'd sold 20k, we'd have heard about it. That, said, the experience of some late purchasers would suggest we might be getting near selling out our allocation - hope so!
  7. New Year just before koIMG_0182.JPG This is an excellent point: the away support was really poor at New Year. There is talk of County fans effectively boycotting matches at TCS because they don't want to "give us a penny". If true, this is an incredible stance that can only end in ruin for both clubs...shabby behaviour!
  8. Surely they can't put sheep in the LL top tier: that would be a security nightmare. Even with them selling 40k and us 10k (optimistic), they can still leave LL upper tier empty.
  9. BBC reporting that Abdn have sold out their allocation: here's hoping that we can say something similar soon....although I suspect not, unfortunately!
  10. No. Enjoy the derby and helps with crowds for the derby matches. Good to see them sweating, though....
  11. Agree - has to be private sector.
  12. From previous seasons, 46 points is usually enough for top 6.
  13. Wonder how he'll be feeling when he see's Yogi running round Parkhead with the league cup in his grubby mitts? In case there isn't enough incentive to stick it up Hibs next week, it looks like a result for us will confirm top 6, while condemning TB to trips to Dungwall and St Midden....
  14. Wow - what happened to our defence?! At fault for almost all of the goals on Sat, which is so unusual. The lack of pressing in midfield also made it far, far too easy for Celtic to play killer balls into Griffiths - anybody can look world-class when given that much time. Bad day at the office for everybody. Regroup and respond against United.
  15. We broke the golden rule of going to Parkhead by losing an early goal; the only way to succeed there is to frustrate the team and crowd until at least half-time. As others have said: so long as it has a positive and not demoralising effect..
  16. Put it behind us - not our day. Don't dwell and regroup for Scottish Cup, Hibs and.... What's next again?
  17. Their loss. Sure we'll be able to attract a better sponsor when we've got silverware in the cabinet and a trip to Italy to look forward to next season...
  18. Just as a matter of interest: how were they able to sell Luckassen outside the January window??
  19. Had to laugh last night - was "watching" the game via BBC text updates (is there a worse medium for following football?) and was so surprised that Raven had scored, especially given the description that he turned in a cross from Oikonomu, or something like that), my son was certain it was an own-goal and made me cross-check against other websites. Oh he of little faith: Dave the Rave positively ripped that in from 1 yard!
  20. Here's the 1881 version - not sure which is worse! Actually, looking again, I think I prefer the original!
  21. Jeez, we've had some shockers over the years, but this one has to be up there with the all-time worst for any country! I prefer Sneckboy's prototype! The only plus is that they've retained the proper badge (as opposed to the home kit, where it is now monochrome).....Never touch the badge!
  22. What's this? Humility from Adams?!! Surely some mistake... http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/26351874
  23. Professional performance tonight - huge congrats to everybody and especially to Yogi: tactics spot-on!
  24. Adams will simply claim that his bunch of loanees were the better team throughout and were robbed by those cheats from over the bridge: same as every week!
  25. Well done lads: sounds like we've got the right game plan tonight. Any sign of an Adams seethe yet?
