  1. I was at the match and watched the highlights. I don't recall seeing us take any chances at the back and don't recall Dean having to make any noteworthy saves. The Aberdeen gaolkeeper was forced to make several good saves and was named as man of the match for them. Against one of the form teams in Scotland we played OK, just need to convert chances into goals
  2. Sample size is 85 so even with our average home support the sample size is not big enough to arrive at any reasonable conclusion. From my experience of taking bookings for away games I would expect our average age to be significantly lower as about half of our away support are still at school.
  3. I have been keen on Yogi since he arrived but I knew it would take time for his style of play to work. To focus on the poor start is wrong - remember Butcher's start - relegation. Remember the songs about Dennis Wyness - he had an awful start but would be seen as one of the best strikers ever to grace this club. While we are only part way through the season I do not expect a dip in form or results - if Billy hits a scoring run I expect things to get better. Roll on Saturday and the test of an away game at Parkhead - even if it goes wrong there we should just write that off and carry on. Some of the football this season has been the best we've played in the Premier League and I don't see it changing in the near future.
  4. Inverness have a better strip and a better castle!
  5. Why do we have to have a negative post-mortem after every game? Yes mistakes were made - including Josh's misdirected header of the Aberdeen punt up the park which led to Gary's mistake at the first goal - but from where I was sitting, the performance overall was reasonable, from a neutral point of view the game would have been a good advert for Scottish football - 2 teams having a right go at each other, end to end attacking, goalmouth incidents, dodgy tackles, etc. We lost the game but I have written that off and am looking forward to the next 3 games. My judgement of progress will be made after the Dundee United game when we have completed the full round of SPFL games.
  6. You can buy your ticket through the club - give your money to ICT and they will eventually give their money to Sevco.
  7. I prefer Billy because he is still at the club - end of.
  8. Spoke to a friend toaday who was on the Red Cross team at the game. He hates football but thought the atmosphere was great. Well done to the fans who did attend. My personal opinion was that the first 3 quarters of the game were a bit dull compared to previous games this season but we never looked in danger and I can't remember Deano having to do any work. Result was never in doubt once we scored. Just seen the result from Dundee - even more pleased now.
  9. Celtic have to play a strong team - they are coming up against the best team in the league!
  10. You don't normally sit in the main stand!
  11. I thought we were in that forum
  12. There were paper towels in the toilets at the end of the match - almost but not quite a first.
  13. I thought we were a more solid unit with James Vincent on the pitch. His role, and the general fans reaction to it, reminds me a lot of Russell Duncan. Both do a lot of work recovering the ball when we lose it and providing an out ball for anyone under pressure but not necessarily making killer passes. After James was taken off, while we did get forward quicker we also left a lot of spaces for Dundee to exploit and they nearly took advantage. Danny Williams is also better at tackling back than either Marley or Arran and I felt that although our attacking options improved it was at the cost of opening up our defence.
  14. Same team as Hamilton. Vincent's work was mainly in recovering the ball when we lost it and I don't think Doran or Watkins are as good at that. Keep Doran, Williams and/pr Ross as impact subs for later on.
  15. I like this tie - I haven't been to Lesser Hampden.
  16. One other memory for me was v. Dundee United with Deano about to pick the ball up from his feet with David Goodwillie charging in. Deano stood up straight to hitch up his shorts then bent again to pick up the ball. Shades of Jimmy Calder - pure class.
  17. I was at the match too and was reasonably satisfied with the progress being shown. I can cope with passing around at the back so long as there are no hospital passes and we keep possession with the view to eventually getting it forward. In the second half we showed more urgency in going forward - I believe we pegged Motherwell back, not that they sat in. The interesting perspective was overhearing the comments from the Motherwell fans on the way out - most of them were grumbling about their teams performance and quite a few of them came up to us and said we were unlucky not to at least get a draw and possibly merited a win.
  18. As another fan who sometimes cycles to the stadium I also find the allusion to a cycle track confusing. Yes there is a combined cycle/footpath at the stadium but this only goes as far as the Courier building when you have to cross the road. This second bit of cycle/footpath goes as far as the marina. Beyond that there are bits of pavement, most of which do not have dropped kerbs - I refuse to damage my wheels by bumping off pavements. If there was a dedicated cycle path all the way from the town centre to the stadium I would use it but until then I will continue to cycle on the road as is the right of any cyclist. Old curmudgeons like Charles wuill have to get used to the idea that in this century car drivers have to share the road with a growing number of cyclists.
  19. I thought the first half was the best I have seen at home all season. My man of the match would have been Danny Devine - good defensively and excellent use of the ball in possession. Closely followed by Danny Williams - good use of his speed to make tackles and willing to take men on when that was better than passing to someone in a tight position. Disappointed that we failed to keep it up in the second half but hopeful that this is a sign of better things to come.
  20. Thanks to all who considered helping us out. Due to the inability of the organisers to contact me, they have made other arrangements and our assistance is no longer required.
  21. Surely the only place where bums on seats are of themselves a good thing is at home games.
  22. To the original question - no, for at least 3 years - give time to judge properly - I like a passing game with loads of posession - takes time to perfect.
  23. 9 points, and if I win the book will be passed around after I read it.
