  4. Sky showed us being top of the table when they did the results and tables earlier: they’d forgotten the 5 point penalty!
  5. A good three points that were deserved despite the poor performance in what was a very flat game.
  6. You’re not missing much. We’ve all the ball but playing far too slowly so far.
  7. Had this not been on tv and me only getting back from Orkney last night, I’d have gone through for this. Looking forward to watching it and hope we keep our good run going and we maintain our challenge at the top of the table. I hope we use Bavidge in a more central position but Kell has called most things right this season so I’m happy to back his judgement. The beer is chilling ready for kick off.

At the Fans Meeting, Charlie Christie confirmed we have Bavidge all season but Stewart until January, although he hopes that may be extended. Sole is until January. Robertson is for the full season.

  11. With the league format in this cup this season, they’ve scrapped the penalty shoot outs.
  12. That was a tough watch. Yes we were the better team and had plenty possession but we struggled to do anything with it. For me the formation didn’t work having only Chalmers as a true midfield player, with Wotherspoon and Mckay seeming to alternate as to who was supporting him, whilst Chalmers had one of his poorer games, being quite wasteful with passing. We looked more structured after MacKinnon came on, whilst Longstaff was a big threat after he came on. Sole has great potential and I see why he is being praised, but he needs to learn when to keep the ball and when to pass it. Too often he kept the ball when a better option was to feed it to a teammate. And we are still too shot shy. Anyway, forgetting the negatives, we persevered and got the winning goal we deserved to maintain our 100% record and that must secure our place in the last 32. MacLeod is increasingly comfortable at right back and had a very good second half pushing forward. McIntyre was doing the same in the left, whilst Robertson looked very assured. Roll on Cove and a rare tv game.
  13. It will be interesting to see the line up given many fringe players played on Tuesday. I really want us to finish in the top 6 to be seeded in the last 32 and perhaps get to the stage that we make some money from this. A great preview as always but, having been at Forres, I do believe we wanted (expected?) to win it. Billy was warned a few times by the standside linesman whilst one of our coaches got a yellow card.
  14. The e-mail and attachment is legitimate. As soon as we realised that the e-mail had gone out without a title we reissued it. And as the title says, “watch this space!”. Thank you for asking the question and allowing us to clarify this.
  15. I think we needed a few more experienced players to help the youngsters tonight. The early goal gave Forres confidence and they deserved their win. We lacked fluency and either tried long balls which were ineffective or passed sideways or backwards so we didn’t really cause them problems. Our goal came from one of the few fast breaks we made. It all got a bit frantic as we chased a late goal but we never really looked like getting one. I can’t fault the effort and the fact that one of our coaches got booked highlights that we were taking it seriously. It is good to see the younger players and Kerr was the stand out. As well as pace he has a long throw. Reid grew into the game but was subbed at half time. Clark is always composed and, with experience, could become a really good player. MacKinnon, captaining the team, tried to galvanise them, but too many one to one battles were being won by Forres. Alonge was quite quiet but did rattle the bar. Robertson was trying to motivate the other players and got pushed forward as the game went on. Zimba was a nuisance and took his goal well but I’m not sure he’s ready to be a regular starter in the league. It would have been nice to get to the final but we have much more important business to focus on.
  16. That's full time. Cant say we deserved anything from that.
  17. Didn’t last long. 2-1 down. Free header from cross.
  18. Looking keener at the start of this half. Alonge rattled the bar but MacKinnon put the rebound wide.
  19. Half time 1-1. Pretty poor by us so far and I wouldn’t have grudged Forres a half time lead. Poor defending cost us the goal and we’ve been very pedestrian with our goal coming from our only quick break. Hard to pick out players but Kerr had a good 45.
  20. 1-1. Zimba. Our first fast break as we’ve been pedestrian so far.
  21. Forres 1 up. Poor defending.
  22. Luke Armstrong, he was on loan to Motherwell from Carlisle.
  23. I think it highlights the transformation since this time last year. We now know what we are capable of and expectations are high. I agree with you, though. Today was all about getting the job done, which was achieved.
  24. A massive win for us today against a decent team. We undoubtedly deserved it but it was hard work. Sole’s shot looked on target but the deflection ensured it hit the net. The Alloa goalie had a couple of good saves, but Munro had a vital save late on. The way we started it should have been a comfortable afternoon but we couldn’t capitalise when on top. Bavidge will be an asset to us but I wish he’d passed to Mckay when we were three on one not long after we’d scored. A big test passed. Onwards and upwards.
  25. It may only be matchday 5 but this is a massive game for us. Win and we burst Alloa’s bubble and end the day two points behind them, albeit they’ve a game in hand. Lose and we are eight points behind them, potentially eleven if they win their game in hand, and that dents our title ambitions. They’ve not been blowing teams away and have had some late goals, so we need to be in our ga e until the final whistle. However, with the way we’ve been playing and what seems to be strength in depth, I’m confident we can get the three points. Hopefully a big crowd is there too.
