  1. Wow! It looked amazing in the ground but even better seeing all the angles. That tops his goal of the season against Dunfermline. I doubt we can keep him for next season but hopefully he gets a club that gives him game time and the chance to realise his potential.
  2. We showed St Johnstone too much respect by changing our formation and going 3 5 2 to match them. It just didn’t work and credit to Dodds for admitting he got it wrong. Going to 4 4 2 made us competitive and stopped St Johnstone outclassing and overrunning us and we got a foothold in the game and then, in my biased opinion, a deserved equaliser, and we came so close to sneaking a winner. I’ve not watched it back so can’t comment on the offside but I was pleased the ref let the move continue when McCart went down and what a finish by McAlear. It’s nice to get the rub of the green after recent events. As for the equaliser, what a strike by McAlear. He’d had a poor first half but that is forgiven. I felt Allardice made a big difference when he came on. He added a calmness and always found a pass. Hopefully he is fit enough to start on Monday. Samuels had a great 45 too. What a mix of emotions we have as Caley Thistle fans. Outclassed and lucky to only be 2 down, but then getting back in it. We’ve shown we don’t need to fear St Johnstone so time to kick on and overcome the odds once again on Monday. I hope we take a big, noisy crowd down the A9.
  3. Looks like there will be a big travelling support: six sections of the south stand on sale now: https://ictfc.com/matchday-info-st-johnstone-h-20-05-2022 I’m looking forward to the guys and girls in the west stand abusing them after we take the lead!

  5. What number are sales at? I popped into the shop just after lunchtime to get my ticket onto my season ticket card and the lady said they had been very busy with sales.
  6. And don’t block any accesses as they tannoyed for cars to be moved during the Killie game.
  7. The sending off was wrong. The appeal decision was wrong. The statement is spot on. It is designed to motivate everyone, on the park and in the stadium, to ensure justice is done by doing everything possible to secure promotion. We now need to put this behind us and focus on the final. By my reckoning, given the injuries and suspensions, we will only have 15 players available, so there are few decisions to be made about our starting line up unless we have any miraculous recoveries. The interesting bit will be who the front 4 are. I’d go with: Ridgers Carson Broadfoot Deas Harper Welsh McAlear Samuels Doran Chalmers Mckay with MacKay, Allardice, Hyde and Hardy on the bench.
  8. I’ve just been able to watch the game back tonight. What guts it took to see us through that given the adversity we faced. I was impressed by the spirit, teamwork and determination watching it at the ground on Friday, but even more so watching it back tonight. Many teams would have crumbled given the adversity faced but our guys stuck together and encouraged each other through it. True, we didn’t play a lot of football, but the ground conditions and wind had a hand in that. I hope justice is (partly) done and we have Devine for Friday’s game. We can still dream!!
  9. Any play off geeks with stats from previous seasons? So far, a lower league team has prevailed in the other three with Queens Park, Edinburgh City and Bonnyrigg going up, and Dunfermline, Dumbarton and Cowdenbeath going down (with Queens Park and Edinburgh City getting promoted after finishing fourth). Have we ever had a season where no team has avoided relegation in the play offs? Hopefully that’s what happens this season and St Johnstone complete the set.
  10. At the start of the season, we’d all have been delighted if we knew we’d make the play off final and we have, for the first time since we got relegated. This season is a missed opportunity in my opinion, as our bad run stopped us challenging for automatic promotion. Equally our good runs contained good fortune and flattered us a bit. I really think the Gardyne episode set us back, but we have come back from that and, without consistently performing well, have got into the play off final and, in my opinion, we deserve to be there. The players are playing for each other and showing commitment and desire: they could easily have folded when Collum made poor decisions on Friday but they stood strong and got us the victory. We will have squad turnover whatever happens, as our loans will be leaving and we have a number out of contract. If we get promoted, and it is possible we will, we need to strengthen the squad if we are to be competitive in the Premiership, but we have a decent nucleus in guys like Ridgers, Devine, Carson, Allardice, MacGregor and Mckay. We need to find full backs, whichever league we end up in, and definitely a creative spark. If we lose Deas, we will need a new centre half too. We need to nurture our youngsters: Hyde looks very promising and Nicolson impressed me when he came on as sub a few times earlier in the season. I don’t think the posts I’ve read imply the delusional misconception you state, but a realistic delight that we are in the final with a chance of promotion. Roll on Friday and Monday!
  11. This is looking the other way: up hill rather than down hill:
  12. We should not fear them. There’s not a lot between the bottom of the Premiership and the top of the Championship. This season we’ve done best against our challengers and struggled against teams in the bottom half. We only lost twice in 20 games against Kilmarnock, Arbroath, Partick and Raith. We are seeing determination and resilience in our squad and a desire to overcome adversity. It will be tough, particularly if we don’t get Devine’s red card overturned, given we will also be missing Duffy, MacGregor, Sutherland and Walsh, but we can do this. I’m looking forward to the double header, with cautious hope.
  13. Adam Rooney for Solihull today.
  14. Pictured close to the photo I’ve just put on the “Let’s go out of sneck” thread, a very rare bus type in Scotland and a type I’d never seen before:
  15. A diversion on the way back from Arbroath. Very easy I suspect.
  16. Tickets on sale for Friday. Hopefully we can get a big crowd for our biggest match in years: https://ictfc.com/premiership-play-off-final-1st-leg-tickets-on-sale-now
  17. Now we need to go one better than the class of 2014 and win the final! Shocking refereeing deprives us of Duffy and, subject to an appeal we should win, Devine for the first leg. It looks like we have lost Sutherland too. Somehow though I’m starting to think we may just do this. I’m scared to be optimistic but we have great team spirit and the feeling of wanting to overcome adversity may just get us through this. Well done to all!

  19. Given the influence of Nicky Low, is it time to play three in the middle to tighten things up and ensure we are competitive? It would mean a 4-3-3 / 4 5 1 type flexible formation so we would need to play with one up top but have the midfield needing to get up in support. If Allardice is fit to start, I’d put him in alongside Welsh and McAlear with one of them playing deeper to support the defence and allow the full backs to push forward when the opportunity arises. The problem is who drops out. Logically Mckay or Samuels so we keep the width of Chalmers and Sutherland.
  20. Jordan White for County against Rangers tonight, but they miss out on Europe so we could get them in the Premier Sports Cup. With the way the split works, they’ve finished sixth but look likely to only have the ninth highest points total.
  21. I’m not so sure Arbroath did run out of steam last night. They are very fit and the stat someone posted about their late goals does not suggest tiredness. I think the wind suited them as it helped them come out flying at the start. We had the wind advantage in the second and we were largely on top. Let’s hope for calm conditions at Gayfield on Friday or, if not, we win the toss and have the wind behind us in the first half and get on the front foot from the first whistle and hopefully have enough to defend in the second half to see us through. I don’t expect any changes in the starting line up and agree with those singling Devine out. I’ve lost count of the number of goal saving blocks and challenges he’s made this season. He is one of our underrated players.
