  1. Cant say Im overly surprised. I still stick by the notion that even if it was a fault (which it was NOT) it wasn't a clear goalscoring opportunity or a professional foul so should not have been a red. End of. Typical SPL, typical SFA. typical JOKE!
  2. Wouldnt mind a striker on loan to take some of the pressure of Foran and Tade but on paper it seems like a very good signing.
  3. Whoever said a scissoring leg motion was dangerous anyway. Some mug at Fifa no doubt like Sep Blatter. I've always thought the dangerous tackles are the ones that make contact with the player. Had Tokely used his "trailing" scissor leg to interfere with the player or affect the challenge I'd see the reason for it being considered a scissor challenge and therefore illegal. But he didn't. His right leg made little if no contact with Naismith. Alas common sense rarely prevails in the football halls of power. Cant see us winning the appeal but remain hopeful.
  4. Basically saying then that if a good player came along at good rates (wages, loan or whatever) then it might be possible but it would have to be a real find or something like that.
  5. I do agree that Tade and Foran are too similar to play as a front pairing for the same reasons. They both like to do alot of running and harrying and it seems counter productive to have both of them playing together. However I feel Sutherland has the height and eagerness of movement to play as a lone frontman if given sufficient support from the likes of Hayes, Foran and Doran. Those 3 behind interswitching could be very interesting. Even having 2 of the 3 I just named and a good creative player like Ross, Tansey or even A.Shinnie in behind pulling the strings. Doesnt matter who a lone front man is. They need to get the support. Only then can they get a chance to be effective. Though the only way I can see if Sutherland is going to be effective is by him getting a run though but it would be up to Terry n June if we can afford that luxury and whether he can lead the line or not. I think he deserves a chance though.
  6. Whilst I agree that Rangers had a goal chopped off and a fair penalty shout turned down (The 2nd one hit a hand, dont know whose, outside the box before hitting Tokely's arm which was by his side anyway) It still gripes me that the ref appears to have went all out to compensate for them. The same linesman had a shocker too. He ruled out Jelavic's goal and called the 2nd pen wrong too. Maybe realised he called the offside wrong and felt he had to fix it? Tokelys tackle was was a contender for tackle of the season. To say that he brushed Naismiths knee on way to getting the ball means it's a pen then they may as well outlaw slide tackling completely. The contact was initially minimal (before ball contact) and did not impede the player.
  7. Not a truer word spoken. Ref was dire.
  8. Neither was a pen so technically the result could be described as void anyway.
  9. Think I'd go for (if players remain out through injury and suspension) - Esson - - Piermayr - Aldred - Hogg - G. Shinnie - - Tansey - Ross - - Hayes - A. Shinnie - Foran - - Sutherland - Though if Tudor Jones remains out I'd be tempted to play Ross higher up and give Morrison a game alongside Tansey. Either/or. If he is available then play him beside Tansey and Ross up in attacking mid 3. I've not lost faith in Tade. I just think we'll be more effectual with having someone who is more willing to be in the box in Sutherland and he offers something different. Tade does alot of running but we have that in Foran and Hayes so I think we need something else perhaps. Nothing against Tade. Will be a good option of the bench.
  10. As much as it pains me to say, and after a day and a few pints to reflect on it, I think Rangers edged the game. They had a goal incorrectly chopped off and a good penalty shout missed (Though it took a replay for me to see it so hard to say to the ref to get it 1st time even if he is much closer). However neither penalty was anything like a penalty. Ross Tokely made an immense tackle and if your saying you can't make any sort of minimal contact with a player whilst winning the ball they should outlaw sliding challenges. It wasn't a clear goalscoring opportunity either so no red. You have to wonder if the ref having made some stinking calls in the 1st half, hasn't had a little look at replays at half time, which I do believe he is not meant to do as it may influence future decisions. He seemed at great effort to point to the spot for the 2 penalties. The ref was a joke. It was one of the poorest refereeing performances I've seen in a long time. On a more positive note, I thought Shane Sutherland did well in difficult circumstances when he came on. He seemed to offer us an outlet up front. I do hope he gets more opportunities soon. Shinnie seemed to cope well at left back. And Peirnayr again seemed solid. Our defence is, against our will, being chopped and changed too much to allow for it to gel properly so hopefully it shall stay steady for the next few games. Nick Ross, I feel has done well when coming on in the last 2 games and might merit a start in the next game. He wasn't great against Hibs but I think he's picked up from that.
  11. I was always of the opinion that it was a CLEAR goal scoring opportunity which merited a red. This was not one. 2nd he won the ball clearly. Fantastic tackle. The 2nd was shoulder to shoulder and Goian should be awarded a medal for that dive. That Tom Daley has nothing on him. Even my hun buddy called it as a dive. Not sure we can appeal for an incident like this. Has to be violent conduct or mistaken identity etc.
  12. Saturday the 13th? Is this like a football day of pain?
  13. I take it by Orcs you mean Rangers fans? If so then do away fans normally get in the main stand anyway? Thought they were all in the stand behind the goal. No idea, cos I've never been to an OF game and most of my games are away games, and I've never really taken the time to notice. Oh and Dougal, I gave you a red dot for an even 10. Hope you appreciate it.
  14. He can't be all that good. Took him 23 years to get on the SFA senior list.
  15. A believe Niculae's wages were paid by someone outwith the club, we would have made money on the transfer and the European Cup appearance fees. The legal fees for his court proceedings while substantial would not be bank breaking (I may be wrong on this) I'm pretty sure he was told to cover all court costs including ours. Not 100% but pretty sure thats the case. I believe we did make a loss the year we were relegated. That is to be expected though.
  16. Hunnoun /hən/  Huns, plural A member of a warlike Asiatic nomadic people who ravaged Europe in the 4th?5th centuries A reckless or uncivilized destroyer of something - Describes Rangers fans quite well I'd have thought. So not offensive. And Quite accurate. A German (esp. in military contexts during World War I and World War II) Germans collectively My team for ze Ger(man)s is - - Esson - - Piermayr - Hogg - Aldred - Gillet - -Jones- - Hayes - Tansey - Ross - Doran - - Foran - Bench - Tuffey, Tokely, Sutherland, A.Shinnie, G. Shinnie, Tade, Proctor. If Gillet is out play Shinnie, if both out play Piermayr at left back and either Tokely or Proctor at right back. Reckon we have to start with this (or similar) conservative starting line up which actual has alot of attacking potential and floods the midfield. Rangers are strong through the middle and we'll need numbers to deal with that as well as having the player to quickly offer danger to their defence.
  17. Is this because Graham Bayne always scored against Rangers? Personally I always liked Bayne and was disappointed when he left as I felt he always seemed to guarantee a stable half dozen goals a season as well as plenty effort and trouble for the defenders. And he won alot of aerial balls (even if some of them were directionally wayward) which was useful to the overallgoal of the team. From what I saw today on ALBA's rerun, Tade seems to hustle and bustle defenders all day long. It takes 2 of them to stop him barging through. He will give defenders no end of trouble with his work rate pace and strengh. However he is quite clumsy al la Heskey and he still often ends up losing possession in the end. He needs to learn to be more economical in the SPL. Make sure than in the end he either gains or retains possession more often. In turn his team mates have to help out by giving him the right options. I'd like to see Sutherland used more from the start. And look forward to seeing McKay in action, but I still have no reason as of yet to doubt Tade, or what he can offer the team. Yes, he isn't perfect. We cant expect that. Rooney was often a wasteful finsisher but made up for it by always getting on the end of chances and never stopping. Dougal, to say that just because Barrowman failed from lower division status means we should never touch lower division players is ludicrous. Don Cowie? Graham Bayne? John Rankin? Thats just us. There are players all over who start at a lower division who work their way up. Yes it's hit and miss and even moreso on free transfers but thats our market. Why always the pessimist?
  18. On reflection a fair result. We need to sort out our defence. Tokely needs to get himself sorted and Hogg needs to get match fit. Piermayr seems to be settling fairly quickly which is a plus and we got some good goals today and if it hadnt been for Tade stealing Forans goal and getting it chopped off then who knows. It's coming together. Slowly but surely. Hard game next now though.
  19. Oh Chris, what was that about? He's only went and stuck in the top bag!
  20. Whew well done Johnny! Foran just missed. hard lines!
  21. Nick Ross for Aaron Doran. All up to those 11 now.
  22. Get yer heid together Tokely!
  23. Saw Gavin Rae is still without a club and he is touting himself to both MLS and Oz in a bid to find a new club. He was willing to join Aberdeen before they backed out (not sure what the script was) and if he was willing to come North he might not turn his nose up at ICT. Bags of experience, both in the championship and SPL. Could probably play the holding role most comfortably. No idea what he'd be after wage wise but if it's football he's after, then that might not be a huge issue.
