Calum Murray apology
Fair play to the ref for admitting to an error. That shows the integrity Celtic have found so lacking. Justice was done when Flyin Esson saved the pen. Though I fully expect Murray to give us 3 pens next time he gets us. You know Wiccan rules. Do one bad thing and get 3 in reverse to balance it out? Beattie blatantly dived. Theres no two ways about it. He's always been fairly easy to go to ground in the box and this was another example. The sooner players were retrospectively punished via video for conning refs the better.

Club wins Niculae appeal
Oh come on now Marius, dont you know when your beaten? Kind of figured there would be some scope for appeal. Just want it done and dusted. I hope Marius is able to find himself a new club in the meantime and get back on form. I bare no ill will whatever the eventual outcome just that there is an outcome and a line is drawn under it for good and both paties can move on. Obviously I'd prefer ICT were the ones who the eventual outcome did benefit like :toothy:

2018 World Cup
I thought Labour did all that and then the ConDems just added to it? Both as bad as each other and neither to blame for any world cup fail bid for Engerlund. Fifa have always stated they want to break down frontiers and as much as I wanted England (proximity), The lowlands (schmoke and a pancake/proximity), or Iberia (sun, sea, sand, football...proximity) to win I understand why they went for the Russki's aside from the money on the side they'll have made. They went for South Africa for the same reason. It was a big publicity stunt. Build stadia, roads, infrastructure. Bring money and glamour to a derilict landscape. Put it this way Sepp has got their vote in the upcoming Fifa elections. Bit of a joke holding it in Qatar though I think. Gonna be mighty hot, even at night and in the morning. Especially in the Summer. Even the kaiser has stated we should hold it in Jan/Feb but that is a little impracticle me thinks. Don't think the Yanks should have it anyway, despite their complaining. (Notice both countries with pre existing infrastucture, and who like invading, failed badly) They had one in 94 and it was pretty dire as far as world cups go. Let them wait. Oz was a fair shout. They should be contenders again soon. As much as I'm not really into the theories of conspiricy it was interesting to see one of Fifa's committee members, who was born in Qatar and supported their bid, earlier this year rule himself out of running for Fifa presidency and deny all rumours of bad blood between him and Sepp. Read into it what you will.

Nick Ross called up and scores for U21 Squad
Who's Nick Ross indeed. Where have these fools been?

Ian Holloway rant
Wouldn't say he's spot on but I can totally empathise with what he's getting at. Players do have way too much power and it's been a blatant attempt at Rooney (and his agent, who probably orchestrated it) bullying the club for a better deal. Man U gave Rooney the platform to perform and as opposed to making up tosh about the club lacking ambition he should have been honest and went to the board asking for a contract that reflected his need for ladies for hire. Or reflected his status at the club at least. He has every right to ask for an improved contract. No harm there. It is business and to keep the top employees you need to pay the top wages. The age 24 rule is a farce. If a player has been developed up to 23 his club get development compensation but 1 more year and he can just walk away. Where's the logic in that? Holloway is spot on with his stance on making changes. It's a squad game and he has 25 to pick from and he should be able to utilise every member of that. Fair enough if it was all under 19s I'd see it as not respecting the competition (The big guns do THAT in the league and FA cup every season with no complaints) but he used his squad of 25 that the FA blazers brought in only this season.

Upcoming fixtures
I dont want to speak prematurely but Hibs seem to be finding a bit of form.
-
New Signings in January
Any hibs fan I've ever spoken too seem to have time for him (I live in Edinburgh) as even when he isn't at his best he still works hard according to them. He might be a bit one dimensional at times but some of his attacking attributes are handy. He's a little like Charlie Adam. Gets in on the goal action. gets around the pitch alot but can be a tad wasteful.

Upcoming fixtures
Was just browsing our next couple of game and we have a very tough run coming up. After Hamilton who have been our SPL bogey team, we have Hibs, Celtic, Rangers, Dundee Utd and Hearts all coming up. If we can around 6-8 points from these 6 games I'd be quite happy as this lot would beat most other teams on their day.

same old celtic poppies
There is a fair chance Im in the wrong but I always thought that although the Poppy is an emblem of a charity which collects for British war veterans, It also represents a token of acknowledgement of those injured and dead on all sides of War. Be they soldier or civilian. Do the Green Brigade forget that many Celtic fans have war relations past and present? Do they no also know that soldiers don't pick and chose their wars. That is the politicians, who often needlessly and in some cases illegally send men to death. If you don't agree with war I believe they still (not positive on this) produce white poppies which can be used to commerate the memory and show your contientious objection to war. Dornoch Caley, If men did die during the two World Wars so that people could wear what they wanted (or not) without protest then is it not a little hypocritical of the Green Brigade to protest such? Im quite sure that many of the Celtic players, foreigners included, have no problem wearing a poppy on their top and a good few are probably proud to.

Derek Adams
I imagine it shall be an SFA ban so he probably won't be seen in the Easter Rd dug out for a while. Im pretty sure bans transfer over different associations. At least they do for players anyway.

ICT City Centre Shop
There is nowhere near enough sustainable income from ICT merchandise to keep a shop running all year round. There isn't anywhere near the volume of sales available for such a venture. I think only the OF, the Edinburgh teams and Aberdeen realistically have the fan base for such. It's good that the club are trying to get the online shop sorted. Thats long overdue. I also think it's not beyond the realm of possibility to get a range into a city centre shop but thats not entirely necessary either. Fans looking for strips etc will generally make a little more effort than just buying on a whim. Perhaps an idea would be to get in with a large online company who sell strips all over from clubs world wide. And yeah ok, the stadium portacabin could do with a lick o' paint and a new glade plug in.

EVENT: Inverness CT v Legends
Just in case no one has pointed it out already... The games are both on Tuesday but a whole week apart.

Liam Polworth
Good to see he was one of only 3 players to play the full 90. Everyone else got 45 min.

New Signings in January
Personally I think it might be worth having a wee look at Hibs as opposed to County. Though I don't think anything could be done in January, they have 13 or so players out of contract. Might be worth mentioning to them in Jan that "If we stay up, we'd be mighty interested" I'd take Rankin back no worries. Doubt we will sign much in January. Maybe a permanent right back should 1 become available. A Dundee player perhaps? I think Proctor might get moved on. He is a decent and versatile squad member. Pretty much an identikit of Duff only not quite as good IMO. Rooneys contract and a permanent solution to the right back berth should be priority.
-
The Highland Football Academy
I think the current location for the academy is fine. It means County can take it's prospects who have the use of top facilities, then once trained up we can cherry pick their best talents. Thats what feeder teams are for. It allows us to blood players early and then sign more complete articles for minimum pricing.

Melville / Dundee / 25pt Deduction
I have the utmost sympathy for the staff and players who will be left high and dry by these events. And Also the fans who have once again been duped by lies and false promises. Unfortunately Dundee have brought this on themselves and when they did get a benefactor did they not pause for a second to think "Ok we've went up the creek before" You'd think they would be much more content to build slowly, as while overspending can bring short term success, it has been continously proven unsustainable at both Dundee and other clubs much bigger than themselves (Leeds etc) When Melville was brought in he said there would be no high spending and the club (going by archive bbc website articles) would be run within its means. He then went out and spent ?300k on 2 players and allowed a squad of 30+ players to be kept. It was marginally trimmed this season after releasing around 15 of them but they then went and brought in even more players. Some only 3 weeks ago! Surely they knew there was a potential predicament by then? People draw comparisons with us however I believe we managed to have a senior squad of around 19-20 (any new boys being freebies, mainly kids looking for a club) supplemented by youngsters such as Ross, Shinnie and Gavin Morrison. For some to state that Dundee who had around 10 more senior players, a fair few on better wages I'd imagine, would have a similar wage outgoing is more than likely off the mark. Add to the release of some non footballing staff and it seems more like we really trimmed costs to be sustainable in the 1st Division for that 1st season, with scope to adapt for the outcome going into the next season. I don't understand how the directors are claiming that Dundee are being treated differently by HMRC. Have they not read of all the winding up orders they have been attempting to impliment down South? Pompey for example? Why do some football directors feel it perfectly ok to not pay tax on time? The money should be set aside in some form and if there is no money coming in to cover bills then costs should be cut and financial models reviewed. Im no expert but it seems a fairly logical solution to me. In my opinion Dundee shouldn't be relegated- At least not right away as I believe this would do more harm to the league. A 60 point penalty which would effectively see them relegated and give them ample time to get a squad sorted for the 2nd division and costs slashed. Perhaps others will see this as harsh but it is a 2nd time in less than 10 years. Lessons have not been learnt. I hope all directors of other clubs take heed of ANOTHER stark warning of these events and make sure that it doesn't happen to them. It's a forlorn hope perhaps but hey there is always hope at least

scotland squad
Tom English article All very well playing with caution but if you go out to play with fear then your already beaten and playing no strikers is cowardice. Brave ploy and it came close to working. As already stated you can lose a goal from a corner no matter what the formation. Butlets not try that again eh. And the Czechs are no Man Utd. Very much a 2nd rate team these days and shouldn't be feared. Respected yes but not scared of.
-
a proper scotland team
Oooooh I guess it would have to be: -Gordon- - Hutton - Weir - McManus - Wallace - McCulloch - - D. Fletcher - Morrison - Dorrans - - McFadden - - S. Fletcher/ Miller - * note Fletcher or Miller It obviously all depends on the opposition and venue. And with attacking full backs it allows our midfielders to play slighly narrower. Away I'd go 4-1-2-2(wingers)-1 with same 1st five. D.Fletcher and another midfielder be it a fit Brown, Thompson, Adam, Dorrans, Morrison. With Naismith/Maloney/Dorrans/Faddy flanking big Chris Iwelumo, Mackie or S.Fletcher. If it was down to international form Darren Fletcher might struggle to make the squad. 3 good games in over 50 appearances is not good enough. And Kenny Miller is not a lone striker no matter what Walter Smith and Craig Levien will try and tell us. Running around alot does not always equate to a good contribution. He scores most of his goals and plays his best football in a front 2. Energy does not always equate to good lone front man play. His inability to keep a ball under control for long hinders him in the hold up ability for one.
