  1. I have also joined the seniors club for the first time. The discount helped ease the pain!
  2. I have nothing but praise for the way that Shane had grabbed his second chance at ICT, with both hands, and got stronger and stronger as the season wore on. I hold my hands up, and say that I wasn't full of enthusiasm when I heard we were resigning him. Not that I thought he wasn't a decent player, but I thought his time had come and gone, but his tireless running, passion, and crucial goals, and finding his best form on the righthand side, had turned him into an important first team member. His injury is such a travesty at this point of his career, but I'm sure he will come back and I am glad the club is supporting him through, what will be, a long road to recovery. Well done Shane on your awards this season, they were very much deserved.
  3. I really think we need a tall striker, a target man, so, that if the game isn't going our way, we can change tactics, and, as we seem to like the long punt up the park, it would be nice if we could actually win some balls in the air, instead of our opponents centre backs winning everything and it coming straight back at us. In the last couple of seasons we had White and Todorov, and it gave us options. We play our best football on the deck with short quick passing moves, and we have got a lot of joy from it, but there is no use bringing on a small striker to replace a small striker when that isn't working, if we need to go route one, then we need the personnel to do it.
  4. There are so many small things that the club could be doing, but don't seem too bothered about. At a meeting with the supporters a few seasons ago, it was said that the clubs intention was to improve the match day experience for the supporters, and I realise we have had covid since then, but nothing has changed, in fact it's worse. We can't usually find anyone selling raffle tickets, and with the club needing every penny you'd think they would be pushing this. There hasn't been a physical programme for a number of seasons now, and the online programme has now disappeared also. Where is our mascot Lionel Nessi? With the club attracting a larger contingent of younger supporters, you would think that it would be great to have the mascot around. I see that the team OTB have already set their season ticket advertising in motion on Facebook, but nothing from us. If it wasn't for the lads on the Wyness Shuffle, where would we get any of our information from? Certainly not the club.
  5. As far as I believe, but don't take it as gospel, we have Ridgers, Deas, Carson, Magregor, Billy Mckay, Walsh, Harper and Allardice all signed up, I think the rest are contracted till 31st May 2022.
  6. Although we got further than I'd hoped when we started the playoffs, and the team can be very proud of how far they came, we really need to find a different way of winning next season. We need a target man, so we can change tactics when punting the ball up the park isn't being won by our small strikers. When we play on the deck with short fast passes, we usually create something, the long punt brings nothing, unless we can change it by bringing on a target man. So, it's another season in the championship, and it will be another season of building a team again, as a number of players will have played their last game for ICT.
  7. We have to take the game to St Johnstone, we were far too passive on Friday night, which lead to Rooney having the whole right wing to himself. We need to make him think about defending first and foremost, and that means having Chalmers and his pace occupying his time. Samuels on the other wing caused all sorts of problem for them and made them play far nearer their goal than they would have liked. If we can cut out the long aimless punts up the park, and keep the ball on the deck with short quick passes, we have a chance. As it's been said, Robbie Deas likes to get at least one goal a season, and he hasn't scored yet, so this would be the ideal time to open his account. And, of course we have the Reece factor, they won't want to give away free kicks in shooting range. I do believe that all the pressure is on St Johnstone, as no one believes that a third placed team can go up.
  8. Calum Davidson will be drilling into his team on Monday, ' don't concede any free kicks near the penalty box', they now know that we have a very effective weapon in the form of Reece Mcalear. That will give the St Johnstone defence something to think about, and with that, and the pace and ability of Chalmers and Samuels, an extra threat that was missing in the first half on Friday. I sadly won't be able to make the game on Monday, and hope to catch it on tv, but I'm getting excited about it already, it's one of the biggest games in our history.
  9. We were all astounded with the lineup and formation, it was mind boggling. We needed to give Rooney something to think about, but we let him have the run of the right wing in the first half, it was only when Chalmers came on that we gave him something to think about, and having Welsh, our best midfielder, playing in the back four, was a huge blunder by Dodds. But credit to Dodds and the players, we turned it around. First goal, Samuels was offside, but we played to the whistle and Macalear scored a great goal, and then he steps up and scores one of the best free kicks I have ever seen. For me, we must start the game on Monday with the team and formation that ended the match, with Devine coming back in for harper. Having Allardice and Welsh in the middle is a must now, and we mustn't be so passive. We could be 90 minutes from the top league, so let's believe, we know that if we put some pressure on them, they are there for the taking.
  10. If memory serves me well, wasn't it Steven McLean who missed the Meekings handball verses Celtic in the Scottish Cup, and Nick Walsh who unbelievably sent Polworth off against Dundee United in a playoff game? So a mixed bag there.
  11. My nerves are shredded, but what a feeling. Also a feeling of deja vu, remember the Hearts game? play a team in maroon, we are down to nine men, they can't take advantage of having two men extra, we defend like crazy in extra time, and we win it on penalties. Campbell said something like arbroath had 600 passes to our 200 or so, but does he not understand that passes don't win games, goals, or in our case, penalties do. How Gollum gets away with some of the decisions he makes, is unbelievable. Michael Stewart had him sussed with his comments on Gollum. It always has to be the Willie Gollum show, but try as he did, he just couldn't get arbroath over the line. I really hope we can at least bring in some youth team players, to fill the bench, or we are going to have to rely on agents Rooney and McCart to win the next one! Well done all at ICT, you made a happy man very old!
  12. We need to get a hold of midfield, and if that means five in the middle, so be it. The team also continue to use the long punt forward, just for the opposition centre backs to win the ball, and start another attack. I don't see Dodds screaming at the team to stop it, so he must be happy with it. All our best moves and chances were created by passing the ball on the deck, that's were we will win this game in my opinion, get hold of the midfield and feed the attacker. I really think we can win this, but not with the futile long punt.
  13. A match I had high expectations for, was a bit of a let down. Dodds must be happy with them punting the ball up the park to our non existent target man, otherwise he would be screaming at them to cut it out! Our best chances were created by stringing some passes together, but those were few and far between. Fridays game is now a cup final for us, winner takes all, and we must get our passing game going, play on the deck and be at it from the first whistle. We have the players to do it, and we have to leave every ounce of endeavour out on that pitch to achieve our goal of a shot at getting back to the top league.
  14. Job well done. It was so important that we got the early goal, as it took the onus of us having to defend our 18 yard box in the latter stages of the game. We still have this bad habit of just punting the ball up to out diminutive strikers for it to come straight back at us, we play our best football on the deck and when we pass the ball. Great goal from Samuels, and I thought Welsh, Sutherland and Carson were our standouts. It's a quick turnaround, but, as the old saying goes, players would rather play than train, so we have the momentum with us, so on to the next game, and same again please.
  15. Amazing result, I would have taken a 1-1 at the start of the game, so coming away with a victory is terrific. We must now get our tactics right on the next game, and not defend from our 18 yard box for the majority of the match. Sutherland has certainly grabbed his second bite at the cherry at ICT and goes from strength to strength. Well done to all the team and travelling support.
  16. Best first 45 minutes I have enjoyed for sometime. It just shows you what the team can do when they pass the ball quickly and at pace, instead of just pumping it forwards. 4 good goals and some really strong performances. Walsh had his best game this season, it's what he's capable of, so let's hope he takes that form into the playoffs. Sutherland ran and fought for every ball, and has had an excellent season, he has exceeded my expectations. Carson is a beast of a player, he's the kind of player I would want in my team, fearless in the tackle, good on the ball, and gives everything for the team. And I was really impressed with Hyde, it's the first time I have really seen him play, and I think he is definitely one for the future. He gave a short wayward pass to Carson early on, and Carson let him know about it, but after that, he grew into the game, has good feet, and was strong in the tackle and shielding the ball. The second half was just seeing the game out, and when you consider we ended up with seven midfielders on the pitch at the end, we got through the match relatively unscathed, apart from Duffy, who I hope isn't too badly injured. So, if we can get our passing game ready for the playoffs, I look forward to the next part of our season.
  17. I didn't see the game, but was wondering if Dodds played Carson at right back again? If he did, did he not learn anything from Friday night? When he restored Carson to the midfield we started to get a hold of the game and got the result. I am a great believer in winning the midfield first and foremost and building the game from there. We now have two chances to get the points we need for third place, let's not blow all the good work over the last few weeks.
  18. I've said on here many times, we can beat the top sides and struggle against teams in the bottom half. Is it a mindset thing? Does the team think it will be an easier game because their opponents are at the bottom? We had a great chance today to keep the feel good factor going, but we let a team, who are all but relegated, beat us! We really needed to at least get a point. Very disappointed.
  19. I have been critical of Billy Dodds tactics and subs throughout the season, but credit where credit is due, he got them right tonight. We were losing the midfield battle until Carson came on to give us a little more bite and drive, and Doran gave us a bit more composure when we needed it. Sutherland again impressed me with his desire to never give up any ball that others might. A fantastic win for the Jags, it's just a pity that this great run has come a little too late to challenge for the title.
  20. I never saw the match today, but reading most of the comments it looks like the Ayr manager, Lee Bullen, had a plan B, to get his team back in contention, while Billy Dodds is again found wanting and is unable to counteract the change in our opponents tactics. A very disappointing drop of two points, especially after the great start we had. In my opinion, I think Billy Dodds brief at the start of the season was to get ICT into the playoffs, and barring some catastrophic swing of results he has achieved that. We had a chance of going for second, but I think that has gone now, so we must try and finish as high as possible, as there is a difference in prize money ( I don't know the amounts ), between third and fourth.
  21. ' Football's a funny old game ', I think that's been said many times before, and it never ceases to amaze me. A few weeks ago we were in a bad place, I think Partick were on the same points as us, but had three games in hand, which if they won, would have put them up with Arbroath and Killie, now, after their slender win over QOS, they sit with the same points as us, having played two more games and we have a goal difference of 14 compared to their 8. So this is the time to focus and keep our good run going, starting with three points at Ayr on Saturday, and if we continue to pass the ball, as we have in our previous matches, I'm sure the rewards will come our way. I believe we are hitting our best form of the season at the right time.
  22. We started this campaign with a five game winning run, it would be great if we could better that from now till the end of the season.
  23. A fantastic three points, and a very good performance, once we stopped punting the ball up the park for a ten minute period. An amazing goal from Mcalear, we were right in line with it, what a strike. There were good performances all over the pitch. Some games it was difficult to pick a man of the match, because the performance wasn't good, this game was the opposite, so many players could have been man of the match. Can't remember the last time we won three on the bounce. Happy days.
  24. That's what my son said it reminds him of, and he wears high -viz!
  25. Do you think there's enough blue in the strip? Just asking for a friend!
