  1. Another very hard earned 3 points. I know it's early in the season, but if we are going to struggle, against one of the teams that are being mentioned to be near the bottom of the league come the end of the season, then it may be a long hard season for us. As a few folk have already said on here, when did we become a long ball route one team? Do we have to play with a tall target man? How about using the pace of Walsh, Keatings and Storey and terrorise their defenders, they always say that defenders don't like teams with pace running at them, but we punt balls up the park to a player who plays with his back to goal, and is very poor at timing his jumps. Robbo has to spring surprises on the visiting team now and again, whether it be tactics, formation or lineup, but we trot out the same thing week after week. When we were on our way to the stadium, we named the starting 11, and the way we would play, and the only thing we got wrong was Rooney coming back early. If we know that, then the opposing team know that and they can set up accordingly. The only thing that Robbo seems to want to tweak is central midfield, so he must be happy with everything else! We need to get the ball on the ground and pass our way forward at pace, it's not rocket science, other teams do it to us, but as with last season, we must be the slowest team at counter attacking in the league, passing the ball back and forth along the back line, until the opposition are back in their shape, and then trying to play through them! I hope we try something different for our next game, but I think I could name the starting 11 and tactics now.

We don't play on it again till the 10th of August, so hopefully that will give it enough time to strengthen up. Even Robbo and Barry were out at half time putting the divots back!
  3. That was tougher than it should have been. We certainly didn't carry our form from saturday through to this game. Cove were very good at carrying the ball and broke at pace, while we really struggled to string three passes together. Sometimes, it's just not certain players day, and our fortune certainly changed with the subs. Todorov looks more of a threat than White, and MacGregor was so positive with his runs and energy that he can't be far away from a first team start. The good thing is that we have a lot of young talent who will keep the pressure on the lads who have the jerseys just now, and make them up their game. Top of the league and on to Dundee on sunday.
  4. Vincent had a very good game, some good forward passes and he worked tirelessly on the defensive part of the game. In my opinion, he is a far better player than the man he replaced, Joe Chalmers. In his first spell with us, he started really well, but injury curtailed his progress, let's hope he can stay injury free this time, and kick on in his career.
  5. Seeing the new kit in the flesh for the first time today, left me totally underwhelmed. It must be the most unimaginative design we have ever had, even eclipsing the deplorable league cup final one. I wonder who had the final say so on the design? Their judgement leaves a lot to be desired in our 25th year.
  6. 23 shots with 14 on target according to the bbc sport app, at least we seem to be having a go this season.
  7. Three assists from Tom Walsh today, I think we have a more balanced squad this season.
  8. Very enjoyable listen, and I hope they continue it.
  9. There are some very good fishermen on here, but there are others who are rank amateurs.
  10. For me, there's far too much caley in the club . In the name, in the stadium name and in the club colours. I can see how the old caley fans don't understand how it affects the Thistle side, but I wonder how calm they would be if we played in predominantly red tops with a smidgeon of blue and we played at the Thistle park and we were called Inverness Thistle C.?
  11. I'm totally underwhelmed with the new top. The front is almost the same as the back, so why the big teasing reveal? I thought as the back was so plain, they would have come up with some really good design for the front. Basically, it's just a blue top, such imaginative designing.
  12. A very good result and some strong performances. The comparison between last pre season and this is like night and day. Robbo has compiled a very strong squad IMO, and this coupled with some very good young players coming through, should see us being serious challengers this season.
  13. Calder Tokely Mann Warren Shinnie Wilson Christie Tansey Hayes Wyness Stewart Brown, Dodds, Tremarco, Sheerin, Draper, Rooney & Mckay.
  14. David Carson was the standout for me today against Clach. Always looking for the ball, box to box, chasing back to win the ball back and very energetic, he would certainly be worth a place in midfield in my opinion. Keatings did well, took his goal well and looks a useful player. Todorov scored his goal while he was injured and just about to be subbed, and young Machado was very lively and ran for everything. Clach sat in, and had seven across the back, mvery difficult to find a way through. Good performance from ICT, a lot of younger players finished the game which will help their progress.
  15. I think James Vincent has unfinished business at ICT. If I recall correctly, wasn't he signed as a replacement after Andrew Shinnie left, and got injured quite early on after a promising start? I have no problem with players returning, as Vigures and Tansey both contributed a lot to the team on their return, so let's hope that James can kick on in his second spell with us, and if I remember, wasn't he a decent penalty taker?
  16. I think there is a bit of plagiarism going on here, did the powers at ICT just have a look at the film, Escape To Victory, and think they would just copy the Allies strip??? Very lazy designing if that's the case. It might have been ok for Pele and Bobby Moore, but I don't think it suits Oor Wullie and ICT.
  17. It all depends how we start the season. If we can get points on the table early doors, then it could be a springboard for the rest of the season.
  18. I hope that's not the 25th anniversary strip, it's so unimaginative. They should have had a competition for the supporters to design one.
  19. Alan Simpson, Storey certainly has pace and he did well for us when he was here, but I think he would have to take a drop in wages. There is an Exit Trial at Forthbank today, so I hope ICT have someone down there to see who is available, maybe we could pick up a surprise gem.
  20. Alan Simpson, I believe one of your heroes has just been released by Partick Thistle, Miles Storey.
  21. I don't get it when people call the league cup a "mickey mouse" competition. I was there when we lost to Aberdeen, and I was devastated to lose that final, and are they saying that a third of the trophies that Celtic won on their historic treble treble are mickey mouse? Every trophy that we are involved in are important to our development and in some cases, our history. I for one, can't wait for the dates to be announced, roll on the new season.
  22. Woop woop! Don't you just love it when a plan comes together?
  23. I'm not usually one for conspiracy theories, but watching ICT's two games against United and their games against St Mirren, I may have to change my view. It looked like they were getting a helping hand to win with some very questionable decisions, by getting penalties, opposition players sent off and the united players not picking up second yellows. I thought that St Mirren would survive and I'm glad that moaning faced Neilsen hasn't delivered for his American masters, he will be under enormous pressure next season, not only to deliver the title, but to win the Dundee derby. I for one can't wait for next season.
  24. I've heard he is a bit of a painter, they could have got him in to give those gates a coat or two.
  25. The problem is our location. If players come up to the Highlands to play for us, they usually love it here, and if they come to the end of their contracts and want to stay in the area, and are looking for a change, the only other option for them is County. In the central belt, there is a plethora of clubs they could sign for, but here, it's the choice of us or county, and at the moment, with MacGregors financial clout, it's county they choose. I hate it when ICT players move to our rivals, but I have a sneeking suspicion that Chalmers won't be the last of our players moving there for next season.
