  1. I think he would definitely fancy the Dundee job but Evening Standard have said it's Jim McIntyre v Gordon Strachan.... Jim Duffy was very unlucky last year at Morton, but whether bridges have been mended I don't know, there is some talk of him replacing Stevie Aitken at Dumbarton.
  2. Csaba Laszlo, Alan Archibald, and now Neil McCann all before November. If we keep going at this rate, Kenny Shiels will be back on our shores...?
  3. Yep, a team with new owners, wanting CL football, if England - Aston Villa? We had Football's Next Star 2010 four years after the show, Ben Greenhalgh, so we have form...
  4. Thanks! The Challenge Cup is very poorly represented on BBC Scottish football page. Very easy to miss (at least for me...).
  5. Just looking at BBC and noticed Partick played Dundee Utd yesterday. If this was an international weekend was it optional for clubs? Winning start for Neilson anyway and Patrick look like having the kind of season ICT had. Wonder who will get that job?
  6. Our draws at home were against Ayr, Alloa, QotS and Morton. The scoreless draws against Ayr and QotS (and RC) as well as 1-1 v Morton I think is Carl implying that while the defence is doing their job, they are frustrated that perhaps others are not. It must be frustrating for him as a defender and captain to see home scoreless draws and or low scoring draws against teams not shoo-ins for top positions. Being in playoff positions at this stage of the season is good, the finals standings will have the same teams in at the end bar one maybe two. To avoid being in that two, the players are obviously starting to look at the goal threat. To stay in the playoff positions or higher we need a few players in double digits. If we don’t have that then in January we will need to loan it in.
  7. Absolutely. Besides the ethics of the actual awarding of it, and the construction of it, FIFA have allowed shifts from Summer to Winter and a drop from from 12 stadia to 8.
  8. Population density = funding/resources. Project Brave is for high population areas only. ICT and Ross County lose out hugely by not having a JD Performance School nearby. These young players (boys and girls) are getting 200 hours of expert coaching year on year in high school. I would like to see ICT and Ross County push the SFA for a school in Inverness/Dingwall to become a JD Performance school. If it is SFA funded (not SPFL) then it has to be national and this is anything but. But nowadays its hard to know what is SFA and what is SPFL.
  9. I think it reflect the fact the Chair is a lawyer mediator in family courts - there's no hubris, fluff or spin.
  10. ? Like for like (up to mid October): [2009/10] 3297 v Ayr ; 3218 v Partick ; 3011 v QotS; 3021 v Morton [2018/19] 2376 v Ayr ; 2424 v Partick ; 2029 v QotS ; 2186 v Morton (Dunfermline last season and 09/10 were no different though...)
  11. The Chairman via the digital programme v Morton stated that they are convening a Fans Forum / Q& A and "more information will be available soon". I presume that will be more CEO/Chairman & board oriented? I'd not have been able to go regardless, but wasn't aware of the sponsor evening until I saw this post/Twitter.
  12. Both times ICT scored the RC players time waste - the goalie just chucking it towards the corner flag - moral victory for us.
  13. The evidence is not robust, granted. They only had a 6% response rate - equivalent to 170 footballers which is a small sample size. http://www.ppf.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/Problem-gambling-research-PPF-2014.pdf
  14. Maybe not at TCS, but what about away? The reasons for season tickets falling are many, but SFA reported that UEFA found SLOs had financial benefits through increased attendance. Surely despite any differences of opinion, all are concerned with the empty seats and evidence that an SLO could assist with that isn't something to dismiss lightly? If there was a volunteer model in place, would you support the club giving the SLO a season ticket gratis, and paying for their seat on the travel club bus and the ticket to away games (plus a hospitality table for a match or something and/or some other benefits that don't require outlay?).
  15. Being in playoff positions after 8 games bodes well but now need to stay in them, draws at home means away wins become more necessary.
  16. Police Scotland refers to liaising with SLOs in their national strategy for policing football. The SFA see SLOs as helping to reduce violence and better conflict management. I am quite surprised considering how our Chairman is a global health & safety and risk management specialist, the SLO has been overlooked. The idea of an SLO as a tick box license requirement or Q&A conduit is just deficient. What is worse, the falling season ticket sales (12%) last season will not be reversed but exacerbated by this needless episode. That's the financial cost, but there are other costs to refusing to have an SLO. The club needs to lead on this, if they did, I'm sure the Trust and the support would assist them, but the club have duty of care for the thousands at their stadium and away too. That's not falling on anyone else.
  17. Great time to score, we have drawn more games than any other team (just ahead of Morton) so need a good 2nd half/goal.
  18. Maybe - for the SLO there's a SLA (service level agreement) allowance, as opposed to a contract/job description. It (SLO) is still only one of 18 criteria in one of four categories, but might be the difference between Gold & Silver for that category. Viewing the SLO as one of the many licensing criteria and trying to get it through on the SLA technicality is indicative of the bigger picture. All a bit grubby.
  19. But that's not an SLO - that's a contact page. UEFA and SFA back the Supporter Direct Scotland description - which is an individual, present, home and away matches, who supporters know, who the club knows, who the stewards and police know. The club say we can't have that - and for some that's ok, and for some it is not.
  20. Apparently they need a coach-type manager as Lazlo was good at everything but that. Neilson is a good shout, as except for that poor run at MK Dons, he was doing well.
  21. What videos are these? Is there a link to them? A bit tangential, but a massive threat to sponsorship of football in Scotland is the 2018 USA Supreme Court ruling to legalise gambling in the USA, with many states now moving to allow it. This will have a knock on affect as advertising there will follow, now that it can't be charged with aiding or abetting a crime (i.e gambling). Meanwhile, the ethics of gambling is having an effect with the English FA ceasing its links with Ladbrokes last year and FA Ireland to do so end of this year. SFA has William Hill but that will probably go. League football is bankrolled by betting companies and it's hard to see them follow suit. The male football population has a 6.1% incidence of problem gamblers as opposed to 1.9% of the general male population (PPF, 2014). That was four years ago, I imagine it hasn't improved much.
  22. Except for Dunfermline and QotS, it is (as far as I can glean). Ayr and Alloa don’t have one/no info. I understand the ‘fiscal discipline’ approach but this seems like a cost saver (in terms of staff duties, better attendances, better communication for uptake, etc.) and an essential service considering the importance of fans to any club. Even if the resolute position was to not pay any salary, surely in the same way we offer free advertising/hospitality in exchange for essential services free/ a reduced fee (flooring, cherry picker, desk...) then something could be worked out as in ticket & travel? Indeed, that might even be preferable to some.
  23. No probs, I should have sourced it properly - It's from the SFA's club licensing manual (national & UEFA), p58. I agree supporters shouldn't nominate, and it's up to the club, but there is precedent via a shortlist: Trust in Killie drew up a shortlist for a fan rep and KFC selected Cathy Jamieson from that list. Anyway, as the SFA manual and the SLO handbook indicates, it is assumed to be a person (as with most clubs, including RC...) at home/away matches, not only for supporters but for the police, stewards, and club, and also in between games ad hoc.
  24. The SFA & UEFA state it shouldn't be from senior management. They also refer clubs to Supporters Direct Scotland for further guidance on Gold/Silver - and was why the Supporters Trust passed on the handbook, which has excerpts such as: "...senior management who will make the appointment..." "...chosen from among the supporters where possible..." "..ideally SLOs should come from the fan base..." "..in most cases we would recommend the appointment of a recognised supporter..." "...this does not mean an existing member of the club staff cannot be chosen for the role..." "...the SLO must be present among the fans. They SLO must know them and be known and accepted by them."
