Is it just that I'm out of touch with current costs or is the price of an envelope + first class postage really as much as 60p?

Here's Prediction 2
-
Not been here for a while cos the sun sea and sand of Mexico was too good to resist. Everyone can discuss and find different reasons why a person would vote one way over another and I believe there were many who would have swung the result the other way but in the last three or four days of the run up were persuaded to support the political party they supported. Being in Mexico I was able to see a different aspect to the reporting of the debate. I now believe that the final factor that swayed some voters and made others stay at home was the speech and plea from Gordon Brown. I believe that, with an Independent Scotland, the Labour Party in rUK would have become a third or fourth choice party of government and that this fact swayed many labour supporters to reject an Independent Scotland. People are not stupid. They've all had two years of debate and counter debate and plenty of time, as I have, to find out the relevent information to make judgement by but, just as it tears the heartstrings of lifelong SNP supporters to not achieve our goal, it tears at the heartstrings of the lifelong labour faithful to vote in a way that would seriously wound the party that they fought alongside through many years of industrial change and unrest. Sadly I predict the outcome of this referendum is going to end in tears and heartbreak for many people for many years to come. Those tears will come with the results of next years general election. I am not bitter in defeat and I will not slander those who made the choice on 18th September. I live in a democracy where all are entitled to choose there own way without threat of reprisal or a gun at their head. The choice has now been made and we all must live with whatever the consequences.

My predictions. 15 out of 18 correct

Sadly my excuse has to be one of the most feeble. I just couldn't drag myself away from the sands of the Yukatan Peninsula. Viva Mexico.

Not according to Oxford. Craftier is an adjective of crafty. Personally I wouldn't attempt to make comparrisons between Mckay and Rooney. They are both different style of player

So long as there's money there will be corruption. That aside what are my reasons for voting YES? We will be one of the wealthiest nations in the world. We will continue to enjoy free education for our children and grandchildren. We will provide a better life for our elderly. We will support and promote small business. We will provide free childcare for all over one year old. We will have a strong and caring NHS. We will have a government thats closer to the people. Scotland is one of the very lucky countries of the world. We have phenominal natural resources. We have the ability to provide hydro electrical power for ourselves and others. Coupled with that we are at the forefront of wind, wave and tidal research and development. We have oil and gas and we provide many other countries with the technology and expertise for their own oil and gas development. We also export expertise in construction and mining. We have a wealth of food and drink production and export. We have a further education system thats second to none. We educate around 45,000 foriegn students a year. As an independant nation we will have the ability to promote our country and its people and we will prosper. This vote is not about who's in government. Its about the type of government we want. A government of the people for the people. A government accountable to the nation. This is the chance to go forward. To look forward. The world is watching us. Lets make the world want to be us. Vote YES for prosperity. Vote NO for austerity.

That'll be why we leave the Israeli's to oppress. Lets just turn a blind eye to that one because Palestine has nothing to offer and the sons of Israel are the financial blood of the good old US of A. Britian has been involved in conflict in Afghanistan since Hannibal was a boy. Dont you think maybe the threats from the fundamentalists there may have something to do with that? Britian took near riots in the streets before becoming involved in Syria. Britian ignored many of the conflicts in central and southern Africa. We denounced the Angolan people in their fight for Independence from Portugal. Britian ignored many of the conflicts in South America. If the oil and mineral wealth of those nations was known about then as it is now I think our stand would have been a helluva lot different. Sometimes I think that Britians involvement in much of what goes on in the Islamic world has more to do with continuing the christian crusades of the middle ages and imposing our ideals and beliefs on other people.

The frozen pensions of Overseas ex-pat pensio
Alex MacLeod replied to Scarlet Pimple's topic in Serious Discussion
Scarlet, there is no pension pot as you put it. Once upon a time NI contributions were set aside for health, welfare and pensions. Not any more. Its another tax used to run the country. I do have a question for you though. Should a person who has paid twenty years of contributions recieve the same level of state pension as someone who's paid for forty years? -
Not sure how last seasons start was superior to this. We may have had one more goal for but we conceded two. This season 4 wins and a draw with five clean sheets has to be better surely. As to the next three games I believe we can take at least seven points and still keep a clean sheet.

3,830 is actually a decent crowd for a home game against Killie. Every season the subject of attendances comes up along with the excuses etc. truth is 3000 average is about our level of regular support and we need to accept that. we also need to accept that many who once went to games now find other things that are cheaper and more entertaining. Maybe, if we keep up this run, a few more will attend but I wouldn't expect significant amounts in the near future. At least not unless the sport starts to compete with the cinema re prices.

Inverness CT, Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa, Brora Rangers and Airbus UK Then there were three And now there are two

Do Ireland? Nuclear deterent will not deter terrorism but messing in other peoples war will attract it. I would hope that the new Scotland would be seen as a country promoting peace and harmony and, as such, a country that would not be targeted by terrorists.

The frozen pensions of Overseas ex-pat pensio
Alex MacLeod replied to Scarlet Pimple's topic in Serious Discussion
I have absolutely no knowledge of how pensions to expats living outside the UK are worked out so can't comment on any of whats been said. I do, however, know that the once great pension fund that was held by the country to pay future pensioners has been used and abused to fund illegal wars and an arsenal of weapons that would wipe out the world. I also know that the UK cannot afford to pay pensions to those, like me, who dreampt of retirement at 65. Now I must wait till 67 and there's every chance that over the next ten years that age will change. I also know that, in real terms, the pension paid to those eligible is not worth a half of what it would have been prior to 1979 -
At the time of posting the BBC had not updated the HL table. So, as of 12.13 pm Sunday 31st August these are the only teams in senior football England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland not to have conceded a goal. Inverness CT, Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa, Brora Rangers and Airbus UK

Good try BigG. Nearly but Nope!

What do Inverness CT, Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa, Brora Rangers and Airbus UK have in common?

I know of some celtic fans, living in Inverness, who attend our home games most of the time. Some of them have been known to get home tickets for Celtic games. It also happens with fans of a couple of other clubs. My view on all this is that it would be brilliant if we could return to the days when we could attend a match with our opposition supporting mates without hassle and without animosity. Many of you are not old enough to remember those times but they did happen.

League Cup 2014/15 - 3rd Round draw (last 16)
Alex MacLeod replied to Sneckboy's topic in Caley Thistle
Why's everyone getting knickers twisted over the seeding. To me its well obvious. Doncaster and co have it on good authority that we WILL beat tRangers so they seeded us and we got Falkirk. No need to be a brain surgeon to work that one out. -
Looking at the SPFL.co.uk fixture list the Falkirk v Rangers/ICT is not scheduled for the tuesday. Maybe its on wed.
-
Many names in the above list but how many of those were really in the frame and how many were made up by lazy journo's?
