  1. This thread asks questions about thedevelopment at Torvean and not about the financing of TCS. Could we please avoid straying of topic.
  2. On the subject of so called glory hunters I must also be one by some folks reckoning. I cant get to every home game. I dont live near the stadium and I work abroad. On second thoughts I'm maybe not a glory hunter. I didn't get to any cup games last season either.
  3. Oh well, if you say so Alex it must be right! No not if I say so. All I've written is my interpretation of what the courier says, what the original Torvean plan says and the SportScotland policy for awarding this funding.
  4. No way....................We had Brewster then
  5. Unless your stadium has a roof on it then no. A multi purpose indoor facility cannot, even with the best of imaginations, be made a football stadium. If a stadium was planned then it would need to be multi sport to gain the funding. That means running track round the pitch and long jump in the centre spot. And think of the mess the shot putt would make of the carpet. Not to mention the javelin.
  6. Last time Hamilton were promoted, we were relegated the following season and took 2 points out of twelve from them. Not the sort of form we need to repeat this season. Maybe so but last time we were promoted Hamilton went down following season and we took 7 points out of twelve.
  7. Stoutly
  8. Ach some folks have too much time on their hands
  9. I would have thought that Fleetwood and Birmingham would have been good workouts prior to first league game. Cant agree that Hamilton are a bogie team. We've lost four out of eleven games we've played them.
  10. Laurence look at the preseason fixtures of many teams and you'll see they start in similar vain. A couple of games against lower league / amatuer to build on match fitness then a couple of games against slightly more trying opposition to build on match sharpness then some equal or better to get into the swing for season start. Even Chelsea do it starting with Wycombe then Wimbledon.
  11. David proctor has signed for Airdrie http://airdriefc.com/news/2014/07/davidproctor
  12. No. My understanding is that HRC are bidding for a share of additional funding that will provide a multi purpose indoor sports facility alongside the current plans of all weather outdoor facilities. Training facilities for ICT are also hoped for. Story here. http://www.inverness-courier.co.uk/News/20million-pot-opens-doors-for-sports-hub-plan-11072014.htm
  13. I may well be wrong but I dont think there are International U-20 tournaments. I think its U-21, U-19 and U-17. Thats getting away from topic though.
  14. A lot of what Doofersdad says is correct. NHS Scotland does use the private sector for some services. It will use private hospitals if these can provide a service not available, or available with long waiting times, in NHS hospitals. My wife had an operation in a private hospital in Dundee simply because Perth and Dundee NHS hospitals did not have the bed or theatre space at the time. The consultant who carried out the operation worked for both entities. GP's and hospitals will also use private laboratories where there is a backlog in NHS provision. All of those services, however, are paid for from the NHS Scotland budget. If Virgin Medical come along annd offer to treat cancer patients how is this going to be paid for? From the NHS budget. The NHS is free at the point of service to all and thats how it should remain. Its not privatisation or the use of private sector services that is needed. Its a total revamp of what is provided from within. That revamp must start with getting rid of the high salaried people running our service. Many of whom have absolutely no background in the healthcare profession. We need specialists who are employed by and committed to the NHS. Not people who give half there time for high salaries whilst devoting most effort into their private healthcare provision. If a private health provider is able to provide a service whilst still able to make profit for its shareholders then NHS Scotland should be able to do exactly the same. The people, the expertise, the technology. They are all in place. Its how they are used that needs to change.
  15. And a follow up from this GP. http://www.yesscotland.net/news/scotland-has-rejected-industrial-privatisation-health-service
  16. From report at the time Inverness lad Calum Ferguson, an emerging striker with Caley Thistle, has been called up to play for Canada in an international youth tournament in Spain next month. Ferguson, who scored for the first team in the recent pre-season game with Clach, is qualified to play for Canada because his mother is Canadian. Calum has been selected for the Maple Leaf country's squad for the under-19 tourney in Alcudia from August 7 to 22.
  17. Maybe we already have that quality striker in Ferguson. After all he was good enough to be called to Canada U-19's
  18. Quite simple really. ICT got into severe debt, even with two stadiums to sell, and if it wasn't for Sutherland and Tulloch's they'd likely have folded. Would one of the two teams have got the backing that ICT got?
  19. Yes but would Caley and Thistle, on their own, have reached the top league?
  20. If this quine gets her way we wont need to worry about the type of social healthcare we provide. http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/politics/tory-mp-priti-patel-sparks-1471711#.U8UvI8B731E.twitter
  21. Has this question been answered? Yes. See #6
  22. Found this interesting wee article from 2004 http://www.wsc.co.uk/the-archive/30-Clubs/2065-the-moral-highlands As a matter of interest what was the average attendances of the two clubs in highland league? Article above suggests 2000 average in 03/04. Now we average 3500. That suggests that crowd figures have risen since merger and rise up the leagues. Now lets assume the merger never happened and Caledonian were granted entry to league. Would that team be in top league now with 3500 average crowds or would it be languishing with Montrose and East Stirlingshire with less than 500 averages. The history of both clubs will not be forgotten nor will the history making of the current club but without the two there probably wouldn't be a current club in its current position.
  23. In DD's healthcare world will I be able to reduce my national insurance payments to go private?
  24. Dont think it would be a publicity stunt on behalf of Benni. He hates the limelight. Perhaps its the team supported by his new wife and Edinburgh lass Stacey Munro.
  25. I very much doubt these ladies would be the type that enjoyed tea and cakes more like pints of lager and kebabs but you are right it's another way that new fans could be encouraged through the gates even if was only a few games per season Dougal No dougal. Strictly G&T or spritzers. They were formed about three years ago and chose a name that didn't clash with Accies. Since there inception they have been doing really well and could become a top league team soon. You should go and watch a girls game sometime dougal. Might teach you something about the game and how not to be a sexist arse. Oh come on Alex, talk about opening your erse and letting your mouth rumble! How is this sexist? In my book that line suggests female footballers are of a particular sexual persuasion. Therefore sexist
