So we weren't a good enough club for him yet Airdrie were. Oh well, see how he does at part time level. He may work his way up.

I think its more like he wasn't good enough for us.

I can see a cup upset comming with MacKay-Steven scoring winner :tongueincheek:

I cant!! He left div 2 of Scottish Football hoping the streets of Liverpool were paved with gold. Failed to make the grade and is now back in div 2 of Scottish Football.

Dewsbury Dude

You are an ironic, funny guy. Hoch hoch

A goal last night and may yet still get a chance to play at TCS this season in a competitive match

Looks like he could be joining United

One of the most talented footballers I've seen. Great left foot.

A real shame we didn't get the chance to see him here.

It can only be injuries, that have held him back. Am I right in saying his trial game with us saw him pick up an injury early on ?

I think so. I remember him playing in the game against Clachnacuddin in the first half and he really was excellent. Looked a real cut above the rest. IIRC he was also due to play for ICT against Forres but got injured in the pre-match warm up. A shame really as he could of been a top class player if he wasn't always injured.

good enuff for Utd, but not for us eh.......could well see us living to regret turning up our nose at him.

One of a few over the years that got away.

He could turn out to be a great player if he stays injury free.

oportunity missed imo thought he could of been as good if not better than hayes for us

I think when we did reject the opportunity to sign him he was in need of 1st team football at a lower level to get back in the flow of things after having been in reserves and having so many little niggles etc. He was not ready for the SPL at that point.

However having proven himself and his fitness, his quality was bound to attract interest and thus an opportunity was missed.

Good luck to the lad!

just had to get taken off in dundee utds game today

Story of his career I'm afraid. A great young player, but constantly injured.

Dundee Utd finished the game with 10 men as they had used all their subs and Mackay-Steven got injured and had to go off. Injuries seem to be story of his career - poor lad.

It's unfortunate that his ankles appear to be made of glass. Perhaps full-time isn't for him? Maybe only training a couple of days would be better for his body.

when he was playing part time at airdrie he played 19 games without injury

so training at a bit less intensity than the rest of the squad could be the answer for him
