Coaching at Motherwell

QUOTE

"It is embarrassing. We have only ever been in one final and two semi-finals.

How can we justify calling ourselves a world football power when we are not?

We have become all Billy Big Time and become too big for our boots, and yet we have got nothing to shout about because we have done nothing. This is what annoys me.

We have no right to be as confident or arrogant about our football as we are. It has been not been anywhere near good enough."

QUOTE ENDS

Several years coaching at Motherwell seemed to have given Terry Butcher a hefty dose of reality, unlike so any of his compatriots. He will be a loss to Scottish footie and should have been in the frame for the hot seat.

Really wasted sitting on Bondi Beach sipping cold beer and watching the Sheilas. *Has a "George, where did it all go wrong?" moment*

Full story.

Terry tells it like it is, or at least like he sees it.

Laugh at him if you like, but Graham Taylor is another who tells it like it is. Butcher has always been one of the most honest of men and the summarising of both he and Graham Taylor have been top class throughout the tournament.

It was a shame to see TB leave Scottish Football - along with Tony Mowbray he was one of the few that actually came across as genuine, honest and knowledgeable.

Even though he did play for one half of the evil twins, I wish him every success in his new adventure and hope his replacement can also talk sense .... Charlie and Mogga need some company in that department  :001:
