Don't know if the person who runs the club's Facebook page reads this, but it would be good if the page could provide live score updates for those who aren't at the games. I think the twitter account does this, but not everyone uses that. Even if the FB page was linked to the Twitter account it would save someone typing things out twice. 

What's this obsession with 'social media'!? To access it, you obviously have to be on-line...and if you are, why not use BBC or SKY Sports. There are dozens of live scores outlets, including the excellent http://www.livescores.com/.

When I'm on my phone Facebook is easier and quicker to access than the BBC and Sky Sports Apps which take longer to load and navigate. Social media is an important tool for engaging with fans and the club should be using it as much as possible. Having said that, the club is doing a good job on that front - it was just a little suggestion I was making.

I may be wrong, is there not a way that you link your Facebook and Twitter and pages up?  That way an update on Twitter would become a Facebook status and vice versa (I think).

Facebook timeline doesn't lend itself to being used to stream updates in the way that Twitter does....and nor are it's users tolerant of such activity, meaning we'd likely have more people tuning out than tuning in if we tried it.

 

There's no way to have tweets feed in reply to a single post automagically on Facebook either (that I am aware of), which would allow it all to be kept tidy.

I don't necessarily agree with your point that users would be intolerant of the activity on matchdays though - after all, they support the team so getting goal updates shouldn't bother them. ESPNFC app is a lot better than SKY or others I find .... The SKY app crashes when you try to view lineups and they have never fixed that on their free app (or on their paid version from what I hear).

If it's purely goal flashes/updates then that's easily within the realms of doable.

Yeah that was all I was meaning.

The BBC can be miles behind when it comes to the HFL or LL. Even for the SPL (I'm still calling it that for the time being) twitter is far quicker than the BBC.

The clubs twitter feed is far superior than what the bbc or skysports feeds can provide when it comes to whats happening in our games.

If you check further back on the clubs Twitter feed you'll find it was announced sooner...that was only the tweet put up when the article went on the website.

 

If you want to get picky then technically speaking Hamilton were the first to announce it with the team lines

 

(A delay in the paperwork on Friday meant it wasn't a done deal till after business hours. People travelling to the game and other things prevented the club making the full announcement properly on Saturday.  Sunday.....feck it, we all deserve at least one day off!!!).
