July 19, 20196 yr Here's a very interesting article, starting with Berwick, about social media and footy clubs: https://www.theguardian.com/football/2019/jul/17/football-clubs-social-media-berwick-rangers-bayern-munich-roma-celtic-motherwell Motherwell sound quite switched on. Maybe our club could take some inspiration from the examples cited, particularly the philosophy of getting fans, not just from our club, involved.
July 19, 20196 yr What happened to our Twitter Lad he was proper class? Was he the one that was sacked for accidentally liking the gay porn?
July 19, 20196 yr A good read. We've had some good and bad social media over the years. The commentary of eurovision stands out as a low point, while the commentary from the 2015 semi final was great.

Our club has done pretty well on Social Media at times. has even won awards. It went through a rocky spell a couple of years ago when it became corporate messaging and marketing spin with very little actual engagement but does seem to be back on track again now.

I'm not knocking them at all, but there are some interesting examples in that article of how you can reach fans outwith your own club.

July 20, 20196 yr Good idea - With all our draws we would only have been 4 points behind the Arabs last season and not 9 points !!

The semi final tweets were magnificent but I think the Eurovision efforts were a symptom of them believing their own hype.
July 20, 20196 yr Here are Berwick Rangers last ten results in competitive games,, a period that saw them relegated from the League. Berwick score first. 0-6 0-7 0-3 0-2 0-3 0-5 0-3 0-6 0-2 0-1 I’m sure going viral made up for it.
July 20, 20196 yr Author You are rather missing the point of the article, which starts off as an amusing anecdote, using Berwick as an example of a club not understanding or profiting from social media (the volunteer social media person got sacked and is now in a well paid football job - so Berwick lost out from a potential boost which, who knows, they might have benefitted from). The Motherwell example is far more enlightening and relevant for clubs like us. Social media won't affect your results, but it *might* improve your profile, winning you fans from afar, as well as improving relations with your own fans, and in turn improve your finances.
