Forfar KDM Trophy

Disney Time Again

Yes it's that time again. Disney time. Disney matter if we win or lose to be honest. The Cup we all love to hate, or is it hate to love. The KDM Trophy fixtures are back and it's game five of six in the qualifying group stage with only eight teams dropping out after this stage. Those positions are occupied by 'B' Teams. Forfar Athletic are the hosts and they are one of the better placed teams only three points of the pace. For Inverness, it will be an opportunity for some of the defenders to redeem themselves after a less than impressive display last weekend against Hamilton, gifting goals like they were going out of fashion. The Caley Jags last two fixtures before the knockout stages commence with the introduction of the Premiership big boys are this one at Forfar and Dundee United B come North next month on the 11th November. the Game at Forfar kicks off at 3:00pm on Saturday 11th October.

Forfars Starting XI in the 2-1 defeat at Elgin City in League2

League2 Results

  1. Forfar 1-0 Stranraer

  2. Clyde 0-0 Forfar

  3. Forfar 4-0 Binos

  4. Spartans 1-0 Forfar

  5. E Kilby 5-0 Forfar

  9. Elgin 2-1 Forfar

Forfar are going well in the KDM Trophy and they sit at the top end of mid-table in League2 just outside the play-off slots.

They have beaten Dons B, Hibs B and Dundee B in the KDM and their only defeat was to League1 Montrose by 1-0. Heaviest defeat was a 5-0 drubbing by East Kilbride in a League2 game at the end of August.

It wasn't a defensive masterclass, however, just the two defeats in the League so far and none in the KDM Trophy. Maybe freshen up the defence and get Ross Millen, Mathew Strachan and Mitchell Robertson on from the start.

The Manager of the Month award curse eventually caught up with us at Broadwood as Scott Kellacher won the award for the second consecutive Month having gone through September with a 100% record. Unfortunately we went to play Hamilton Accies in October and suffered badly from the curse. Hopefully the weather is better this weekend and we can get back to playing football the way it should be played.

Will wait until after dinner tomorrow night to look at the score. Don’t want to waste any of the 26 degree Cyprus sun.

I had no power for 41 hours last weekend, after 12 Hours got £30 per day per head in the house. Also a food van was parked in munlochy in the evening serving food to the locals. We found it difficult to spend £60 a day on food. TM4TJ, you don’t look it, but if you are over 60 years old you can sign up for SSEN priority services. After 24 hours without power you can book a hotel on the leccy company. No need to shiver. 🥶

H/T: 1-0 ☹️

MacLeod & MacKinnon put us ahead 10 mins after the break. Luis added a third & Billy a fourth.

FULL TIME: 1-4

Looks like a game of two halves lol Well done, lads!

I am of the opinion that all games matter. It's important to win, to keep winning, and to learn how to win.

I noticed Millen came off after 40 minutes. Was this another injury for him? Also seen Liam Sole subbed after 45, tactical shakeup or was he poor?

Things can still shift with one game to go but we’re currently v either Clyde or East Kilbride in the next round.

Millen pulled up when running towards the ball, so definitely an injury of some sort and regarding substitution of Sole could be either or both, didn’t have his greatest 45, needs to move the ball on quicker.

Sole is one of those players who can be delightful or frustrating. His pace and skill means he can take players on and beat them easily, but he can also be a bit greedy and not pass the ball to players in better positions.

In a choice between him and Longstaff, I’d always go with Longstaff, but when our line up enables both to play we can cause real damage to teams.

It comes down to who we pick as our “front four” given we’ve Bavidge, Wotherspoon, Zimba, Mckay, Longstaff and Sole competing for those places.

We also then have MacKinnon, Allan and Alonge who can play in an advanced midfield role too, as well as competing with Chalmers and Stewart for the central midfield positions.

Good decisions for Kell to have to make, but key ones as getting the line up right can be key.
