If Accies go bust....

Obviously with today's news about Accies It is not looking good for them and I sincerely hope they survive. I fully expect them to enter administration within the next few weeks and with mounting debt, no assets and no stadium, it will be very difficult for them to survive. I have looked up the rules regarding teams going bust mid season.

SPFL Official Rule (Handbook Rule C11 – “Club Ceasing to Play”)

“In the event of a Club ceasing to operate or being expelled from the League during the Season, all League Matches played by that Club in the Season shall stand and count in the League Competition, provided that at least 75% of the scheduled League Matches in that Season have been played. If fewer than 75% have been played, the Board may determine that all results involving that Club be expunged.”

This means that as we have zero points from our game against Accies then we have nothing to lose points wise f the worst happens.

But certainly if they were unable to compete and fold any time between now and February (ish) there's a high chance that other teams will lose points.

Losing points in this scenario so far:

Alloa: 3

East Fife: 4

Cove Rangers: 1

Peterhead: 1

Annan: 3

Queen of the South: 3

I hope this scenario doesn't unfold but these are the circumstances that they are.

I have just moved this to General Football Drake, there is already another thread about Hamilton an I think it will become a bigger talking point over the season.

Annan’s win wasn’t a league game.

Accies are required to respond to the SFA by tomorrow 'We note from the records at Companies House that Mr Strain is currently the only director of the club. We have informed the club to write to us within seven days to outline the steps it intends to take to ensure it complies with its legal obligations following the implementation of the determination referred to above.'

Unless Strain is successful in an appeal against the SFA's judgment that he is not fit and proper to run the Club, tomorrow is key because someone has to certify that the Company is a going concern. A Go Fund Me appeal by supporters is currently at £20k against a target of £50k. Could be a dramatic day tomorrow for Accies and possibly for the League.

Accies are doomed. I read the interview in the Record and all Zengin kept doing was blame the SFA for some "conspiracy" against them. They broke the rules on multiple occasions but somehow it's the SFA's fault. I thought we had it bad with Coco and his performing monkey but Jeezo ... they haven't got a hope with those two chancers involved. What's sad is the club was almost bought by a group of Nigerian businessmen with money from oil. The two clowns wrecked the deal and then found they haven't got the funds to keep the club going. I'm afraid Accies are not long for this world. The SFA will hammer them. Sad to see - how many clubs have we seen almost go to the wall due to total mismanagement? I can sympathise with the Accies supporters - we almost went that way. I feel for Rankin who has done a tremendous job with such limited resources. We just have to keep concentrating on getting the results and getting out of the league.

  • 2 weeks later...

'Hamilton announced that Rankin, who had been in charge for three years, resigned after the League 1 side lost their Lanarkshire derby 4-0 away to Championship strugglers Airdrieonians.

Describing it as "a deeply sad moment", Accies praised his "immense" contribution during a time when they have been subject to points deductions, a transfer embargo and switch in home stadium stemming from financial difficulties.'

John Rankin has been immense in my view in what has probably been a complete nightmare. Presumably players close to not being paid before yesterday's game impacted on their performance. Who knows what we will face in a few weeks time'
