From the Scotsman (21/10/2010) TOP CHEFS BACK THE P.R.I.C.K.S. TO FOREWARN ICT By Ewan McMurray Top chefs Gordon Ramsay, Nigella Lawson, Delia Smith and John Kelly have voiced their support for the Pie Reputation and Integrity for the Catering of Kilmarnock Society, in the wake of concerns that the supporters of Inverness Caledonian Thistle F.C. may be planning to inflict another injurious verbal and choral assault on the manager of Kilmarnock F.C., in reference to the allegation that the previous managers' obesity may have been closely linked to the over consumption of pies available from the club catering facilities. Previous concerns were raised to the F.A.R.T.S organisation (Fat Aberdonian Reprobate Taunting Salvation) in respect of the prolonged 45 minute plus ?assault?, by factions known as the MOB and the SESH army, at the Scottish Cup Tie last season which allegedly led to the demise of the previous manager, Jimmy fat **** Calderwood. Agents for Mr Calderwood claim that he suffered Post Traumatic Stress Disorder following the psychological ?bullying? ordeal, had a nervous breakdown which ultimately resulted in his resignation. It is reported that Mr Calderbank now suffers from chronic insomnia where he has recurrent flashbacks / nightmares on the theme of kilted Highlanders dancing in a conga around his bed, whilst deriding him about his obesity. He is rumoured to be currently 6 stones in weight and resembles a bright orange, sun dried Satsuma. It is doubtful whether he will ever be able to return to football management although Ross County FC feel that he may be a ready made replacement for Craig Brewster. South Ayrshire Police and Group 4 Security have been in discussion with the CaleyAwaywithTerryandMo ?firm? who are rumoured to be an amalgamation of the two notorious factions previously known as the MOB and the SESH Army. The authorities feel that the dialogue has been fruitful and a fat, old, kilted, bald, grey haired spokesman has assured Kilmarnock FC that there will be no repetition of the incessant chanting of the ?Jimmy Says aye to a Killie Pie? taunt at this weekends? fixture. It appears that the CaleyAwaywithTerryandMo ?firm? have sought legal advice from their Finnish solicitors and have agreed to serenade the present managerial incumbent, Mixu Packalotofkilliefeckinpiesinmafatscandinaviangutlining, in a ?softer|? Finnish version of the chant. ?Mixu says JAA jotta Killie paistos? or perhaps an abridged version highlighting the Swedish word for Yes - ? Mixu says JAA to a Killie pie? will be caroused. A spokesman for the Finnish F.A, responded - ? Ajaa kaikki mik? te haluta koska me hankkia disowned ep?kuntoinen hedelm?llinen h?lm? ?11 points

As the mother of one of the u19 squad and also the mother of the boy who was treated without respect by one of the backroom staff after the aberdeen game and who was in attendence at the keith game , i cant believe what i am reading in these posts. The boys were at rock bottom after the Keith game and knew that they had let the club down and themselves down but they showed great character to bounce back and beat the league leaders in their next game. They lost a game to another team that is football they will learn from that and adapt and if they dont they wont have a future in the game. What the boys need is support and backing and time to grow and develop, not people to come on websites calling for their coaches to be replaced. Thankfully my son has found the staff at ICT to be supportive and that is from the top down ( maybe with one exception).I travelled by train from aberdeen to go and see the Keith game and yes the result was disappointing but i would do it again to show support to the team. Maybe those who are closer could turn out and support the boys and not down the team. In football you win as a team and lose as a team, from the coaches down to the players. So please support the team so you can enjoy the benefits that will come from the team3 points

The name we have now is perfectly fine. It's 2010 nearly 2011 and if older people want a name change thats fine but it's the younger generation thats coming through now and in the near future. To me Caledonian F.C. and Thistle F.C. each have their own history but ICT are who I've grown up supporting and I'd be very surprised if anybody my age wanted a name change. I'm 24 now but looking around Inverness these days there are far more people wearing ICT tops in town and at school than when I was there. This will continue to grow it just needs patience.2 points

CaleyThistleOnline has been asked by 'Bronson', one of our long time members, to post the following story/information regarding an organisation called Cafe Football and we are happy to oblige. My name is Simon Macdonald and I work for the Highland Council as a family support worker. Over the years I have helped to create a football group for teenagers with learning, physical, social and emotional difficulties who attend all the home Inverness Caledonian Thistle Football Club games. I have developed a great relationship with ICT and was recently approached about becoming involved with an organisation called "CAFE FOOTBALL" . CAFE stands for "Centre for Access to Football in Europe" and one of their vision's is to improve the footballing experience for supporters with disabilities by setting up local supporters groups and raising awareness of any issues. CAFE FOOTBALL have the support of Uefa, the SPL and the SFL and are to meet with the SFA soon. Disability Support Associations are now in place at Aberdeen, Dundee, Dundee United, Dunfermline, East Fife, Falkirk, Hearts, Kilmarnock, Livingston, Motherwell and Rangers and all these clubs have pledged their support. Although DSA's are not in place at Airdrie, Celtic, Hibs, ICT, St Johnstone and St. Mirren, positive contacts have been established and it is hoped that they will soon be on board too. I have been in touch with Keith Ferguson the UK and Eire Development Officer and we have arranged a meeting on Monday 25th October at 7pm at the Tulloch Caledonian Stadium to which any disabled supporters, family members, carers and representatives from organisations are invited. Keith will be there and will hopefully be able to gain the views of those interested and look into the possibility of creating a Disabled Supporters Association for the club. I would also appreciate it if you could forward this information to anyone you think would be interested in attending the meeting and I ask that those interested in attending send me a private message to enable me to gauge interest levels and numbers. [send PMs to username Bronson] I look forward to meeting all interested parties on the 25th, Regards Simon Macdonald1 point

Your son's development will be very much down to the quality of coaching and treatment he receives from the coaches so I hope you can see where I am coming from. Beleive me, I hope your son and any other deserving member of the U19 squad make it to the next level but they will need all the help and advice they can get. That generally comes from those with experience at the highest level. I do understand where you are coming from but you cant focus on one result. Shock results happen at all levels of football. As a caley fan you should understand with caley going down to celtic park and beating them a few years ago. The boys showed heart and guts to come back from the keith game and beat aberdeen, that you seem to be over looking as you seem to want to concentrate on knocking the coaches.1 point

We weren't doing it all the time last season though. How many goals last season came this way from closed down pass backs? Ultimately, in the grand scheme of things, it's a pointless activity.1 point

I was just going to say all that.... basically the rebels are in a complete minority and getting less, there is a whole new generation of fans going to games who never saw Caley or Thistle and probably dont give a monkee's :******:1 point

Yup, AAO sure was a bit of a moneyspinner. The best estimate is that it made a profit of £10 - 15,000 for the club. And just to confirm what I got out of it - the opportunity to give an account of an important part of the history of Inverness and a very nice engraved Caithness Glass bowl which wasn't even part of the deal but which they were good enough to present me with to mark publication. As for old Buenos, it's maybe quite good to give him the odd cameo appearance from time to time - just to remind us all of the considerable progress which football has made in Inverness over these years!0 points

Buenos of That Ilk. A "prominent" Caley Rebel who posted on here for some time under that name. A "life long" Caley fan who, when taken to task for throwing the Chic Allan Trophy into the river, was alleged to have asked "So who was Chic Allan anyway?" I've spoken to him, and he is actually laughing at you, as he knows he's got under your skin. As c'mon Charles, you do seen like a tad pathetic on this. You have mentioned him what 3 or is it 4 times in this thread?.. Let's face it, the merger ended up a bit of a money spinner for you with AAO.. i do believe it is you who needs to move on now.0 points

A lot of sense has been spoken on this thread. It begins with the overwhelming outcome of the poll (just take a look), it moves on to yngwie's robust questioning of the validity of the original question and continues with MUCH of what has been said in the last eight or so posts - of which I quote, as highlights, the above and this from yngwie... But did you have the foresight to see that the merger would never have been approved by members if the club names were killed off? (Sorry, I don't know how to do these multiple quote thingies.) It is absolutely correct to say that the merger would have suffered instant death had the original club names disappeared. Those who were present at the First Battle of Rose Street (for the benefit of the younger generation this was one of three highly contentious Caley merger meetings at the Rose Street Hall and took place on 1.12.93.) may remember that the Caley Rebels, even before they left the hall, were adopting a fallback position of what eventually became the name. Although there was still a further year of grief, the adoption of "Caledonian Thistle" played a major, major part in securing the agreement which eventually was made. Similarly on the Thistle side, the name gave them at least something which they felt they had held on to in what had to be an unequal merger, given the disparity between its two components. (Another feature of that is the frequency with which the club is referred to simply as "Caley" which - despite my Dalneigh roots - I regret, but this is to some extent inevitable.) In "Against all Odds", I quote the average combined attendance at Kingsmills and Telford Street at around 600 and have seen no evidence in the intervening years to contradict that. There were, for instance, 4800 at Saturday's St Johnstone game. Almost two decades on, it's therefore difficult to conceive of how thin Jags and Caley attendances were back in the early-mid 90s. Perhaps think "Clach - plus" (but not TOO big a "plus") I could even be generous and concede that the "stayaways" ran to a bit more than 12th Man's 5% estimate, but even then they are still a drop in the ocean compared with even the modest attendances of the day - never mind current attendance levels. And that's before you start questioning how many of these guys who keep materialising in pubs to tell you how much they are missed were frequent visitors to games in any case. Buenos Hornell.... are you still out there? Here's another way of looking at it. At none of the Battles of Rose Street did the Rebels - despite scouring the highways and byways just as thoroughly as the Establishment did - ever muster more than about 250 votes against the merger. We also know quite well that a great number of them subsequently came on board and have been supporting the club for years. So how many refuseniks does that leave? And 16 years on, how many of even these are still in Inverness, still alive and still refusing to go to games? You can also ask the same question of the Thistle fans where the numbers of dissidents were even smaller both in percentage and absolute terms. The crucial, central feature of the 1994 merger was the inequality of its two components and a solution had to be found which reflected that, whilst still convincing the Caley and Thistle support that it was neither respectively selling them short nor constituting a takeover. That was eventually achieved - by the skin of the club's teeth - and an integral part of that was the club name which then had the "Inverness" extension added in 1995 partly at the Council's request to reflect the Stadium land deal. "Inverness Caledonian Thistle" therefore not only reflects 125 years of football history in this city but also the fact that so many odds were overcome to put together a club which, within a decade of its formation, brought SPL status and a great deal more to this city. I make the final statement of this post with a degree of mixed feelings since I am reluctant even to dignify the original question with an answer but.... if it ain't broke - don't suggest trying to fix it.0 points

MissICT I'm not sure where your negativity stems from. First of all why do you doubt that it was supposed to be played against County? It was there progression to the Alba Cup Final that caused their call off. Who says we won't be playing our first team? Who says only 1500 will turn up? I'm sure we won't play all of our 1st team, but I'm equally sure that a number of them will feature. You might not be far away with your crowd prediction, but I hope people will come out to support Roy as he has served the club well over the years and deserves his night. The opposition shouldn't matter.-1 points

My first post (Not relation to anyone in the U 19's before you start caleyboy). What are you on about caleyboy?!! These are young men (16, 17 & 18 year olds!) developing their own individual ability in the game!! Yes it is a game!! Nothing to do with attitude, just a bunch of young men learning their trade and making the odd mistake. Some will be better than others and unlike other professions, most will have to go and find another career at the age of 18!!! I made a couple of mistakes at my work today but no-one is accusing me of having an attitude or blaming my boss. And I am 29, not 17!! you think I would be more perfect at my age, like you!! As for blaming the coaches, what playing pedigree do you think/know is required to coach our U 19's & what qualifications do you desire our club coaches to have? This was my original post re this game: "An absolute disgrace getting beat at this level by a SHFL youth side some of whom also played the day before. Was this an attitude problem? Was it a quality problem? If it was attitude the coach needs replacing! If it was a quality problem the whole structure needs an overhaul! Now I know why we don't hear very much about this squad. Sorry to be negative but this is the reward for doing everything on the cheap and the Club investing absolutely NOTHING in our youth programme! This is NOT the players fault - they are still learning - it is down to coaching, discipline and the teaching of good habits!" I have fully supported our Youth Development since the club was formed but we are an SPL club and this is a Professional squad so it is far more than just a GAME. To get to this level the kids obviously have the ability which now needs development on a full time basis but the essential elements required are ATTITUDE and GOOD HABITS. As an SPL club, I would expect our U19's coaches to have at LEAST a SFA YOUTH LICENCE! However, I would also expect them to be working towards the EUROPEAN PRO Licence. You will find that our U19 coaches do not hold either. Just as important, I think PLAYING experience at a FULL-TIME PROFESSIONAL level is also a MUST in order to impart the knowledge to our young pros. I beleive the Club already has 2 individuals suitably qualified in both areas but they are not involved with our U19's. Sorry if I have upset anyone by my comments but it is VITAL that the club gets this right for our future eg Grant Munro & Nick Ross to name just two who have come all the way through the programme.-1 points
