  1. Tansey is quite clearly in pole position. That was a sweet hit at Midden and had to be as the keeper guessed right but with that kind of power and positioning it was unstoppable.
  2. Well the most entertaining bit (or bite) of the day was the "Fly in the Pie" incident pre-match in the Alamo. Personally I do not understand all the controversy as I have enjoyed at least one fly in my pie every time that I have been there, especially when the Beer Garden is open. The main positives to take from the game is that we were solid at the back, we were in complete control when we had 11 and never really looked like getting beat when we went down to 10 men. Wee Billy looked like the all action forward of old and Ibra looks like a player of similar ilk. If he had been playing for Midden he would have been Zebra. The three points are gratefully received but the game itself was simply dire. There was few chances at either end, our final pass is still terrible and Middens shooting was thankfully woeful. But the person who totally spoiled the fare was that idiot Gollum in the middle. The standard of refereeing in the League this season has been very poor but that was a ridiculous performance. Apparently wee Ryan got a second booking for unsporting behaviour - WTF!! Deano had a better day and actually looked commanding with one excellent finger tip bottom corner save. He was helped by a far more solid back four and there was NO tippy-tappy on display. Need to see the highlights but it did look like a Tremarco handball late on. Now Ross a Draper has a go at refs and his reputation in the Record and then is lucky not to be our second sending off with a number of CLUMSY, needless tackles/shoves. Tansey was my MOM by a country mile. He looked like the only "footballer" on the pitch. He also slotted home a beaut of a spot kick. Plus I don't know what the junkies were whingeing about as Warren almost had his shirt taken off. But it was really good to watch the Billy McKay of old. He was really unlucky not to score although one was a near to sitter. But he ran the line and chased everything and has evidently been buoyed by the arrival of Ibra - who looks like a cloning of Dean McDonald and Eric Obdiambo - hopefully turns out to be better. He does look in the McKay mould BUT I am unsure as to how they will play as a pairing. He certainly has movement and pace. He should have passed at the death but went fer goal. Some may say that he was being greedy but that may be the sign of a goal scorer. And Yogi's substitution were tactically spot on. So it was pretty dire entertainment but another three point away day.

I agree billy is snuffed out by double teaming the central defenders on him . If they want to take Ibra and billy out that way then their whole back 4 are committed so loads of space for others to capitalise!
  5. I did get the penalty prediction right though!
  6. I have missed a couple of games this season trying to finish off reading posts by Caley D

Think we are making a big thing re County crowds they have done little to boost attendances last 2 home games and with potentially 4 trips North for other fans perhaps county going down might actually help us
  9. In my view it's globalisation and it's irreversible. Satellite TV and ease of travel mean that nobody punches above their weight any longer. I first became aware of this when I made my first trip to North America in 1998 (also the last time Scotland reached a major finals). I went to see the Blue Jays take on the Yankees at baseball and enjoyed it so much I went to another game in the minor league at Kitchener. I realised that the major league played to full houses in magnificent stadiums and pitchers were paid about $3m even then. Meanwhile, just below this level, the minors played to crowds of about 100, just like our Juniors or HL. So just as everything that happens over there, follows here about 10 years later, we have the elite such as the Champions' League and the Premiership, where the rich just get richer and people such as Wayne Rooney no longer breathe the same air as the rest of us. In the 70s you had a fair chance of bumping into a top player from the Scottish or English League on the High Street or in a pub, and top English sides sent up a strong team, not a reserve side, to play the likes of Rangers or Hibs, and as often as not they lost. By the same token, when I was at school, people got annoyed at seeing Old Firm scarves instead of Hearts/Hibs ones. When I started teaching in 1981 I started to see the odd Liverpool or Man U scarf. By the time I finished teaching in 2012 the boys tended to have a 'big' team from outside scotland, such as Chelsea or Barca, and didn't really take Scottish teams seriously any more. I have a friend in his mid-thirties who has QOS as his wee team as he comes from there, but he has a season ticket at Anfield. As for the national team, I used to tell the boys in my class that I felt sorry for them as they had never lived through the days of Scotland expecting to qualify. They just assumed that we had always been rubbish, didn't believe that we once qualified for 5 tournaments in a row and couldn't relate to watching legends like Law and Dalglish rather than Scott Brown and Alan Hutton.
  10. Great result for the lads today I feared the worst when we went down to 10 men with 40 mins to go - so well done lads
  11. An excellent 3 points today - well done!. Collum must have been told to keep his cards in his pocket this week after his efforts last Saturday - which has gone under the radar - as it was played abroad! He was reffing the Hungary v. Romania Euro 16 Qualifier. TWELVE yellows!
  12. Cant help thinking that the artificial pitch gives the home team a big advantage.
  13. Imrie has really surprised me. Earlier this year, when we played a doomed Morton side, inevitably heading for relegation to the third tier, he looked just that - a player who'd had his best days and was dropping to his 'appropriate' level. Fast-forward 7 months and he's starring for the team currently at the top of Scottish football!
