  1. It may seem like a no-brainer but Robbo's interview said it all regarding young Daniel - I doubt he'll be on from the start in any game soon. The old adage about being old enough if you're good enough is all very well and good, but Robbo seems to be well aware of the dangers of over-playing a 16 year old in the professional game. We just have to hope that his mini appearances will have the desired impact at the right time of the game.
  2. Tonight, 31st January, is also the first anniversary of one of the worst outcomes in Caley Thistle's history - the notorious 3-0 defeat at Hamilton which, apart from being a rotten result, also set something of a "tone" for some time to come. Interestingly enough, on 31st January 2017 and 2018 respectively, Caley Thistle by 3 points and Ross County by 6 were both bottom of the Premiership, both having amassed 17 points. However a year ago, ICT had 15 games left to try to save themselves, while as of tonight, Ross County have only 13. This means that County now are in a numerically poorer situation - three points further adrift and with two fewer games left - than Inverness were one year ago.
  3. While Daniel Mackay was impressive when he came on, it must be remembered that he is only 16 and still at school. An excellent impact sub but too much to expect him to start every week against some of the more robust defending we see in the Championship. Not a great game from either side and not much in it until the goal. Think the foul on Doran was definitely a penalty and the booking for simulation was ridiculous. Overall the refereeing was poor again and some of the tackles put in on Oakley that went unpunished were unbelievable including one where the Dundee player had him grabbed around his neck!. Our passing was poor and it was a poor pass, by Calder I think, that led to the breakaway for Dundee's goal. We also defend poorly when we have a corner as poor delivery led to several breakaways by Dundee which could, and probably should, have been more costly. The players we leave back seem incapable of defending so we should look at keeping 1/2 of our regular defenders back. I also think the right back position needs to be looked at. Brad is not a right back although he tries hard. His distribution is poor, as is his crossing and we lose out on good attacking positions as a result. Personally I would move him back to central defence and drop Garry Warren. I think we look much more solid with Brad and Donaldson as central defenders. If we are going to play Warren, then someone has to tuck in behind him as anyone with pace takes him out of the game.
  4. One thing we learnt last night is that Daniel MacKay is a better striker than John Baird, who is nowhere near good enough,
  5. 2 points
Was he ever here? I doubt he was a footballer anyway. Possibly the worst signing ever in the history of the game. We got out of jail there A boy named Zschu.....
  6. Just to reassure everyone that whatever date is eventually fixed for Dunfermline game we shall be running a bus.
  7. A bit of a whimper of an attempt to stay in the cup I'm afraid. Too many players struggled to make an impact on a heavy pitch resulting in poor passing and loss of possession. Bell, Chalmers and Doran in particular. One direct shot on target was a disgrace. Dundee were more composed but the ref also let their defenders away with a lot. Oakley and Bell came in for the worst treatment but got no protection from the officials ref. It beats me why opponents feel the need to rugby tackle them in nearly every game. I think that Daniel Mackay (for Bell) and Trafford (for Chalmers) should have been introduced around the 60 minute mark to allow more time to make an impact. Once again Baird was a waste of a substitution and Mulraney wasn't much better. Calder was unlucky to be subbed because I thought he was one of our main threats to setting up a goal. Poor Brad had to hobble about for the last 7 or 8 minutes after we had used up all three subs. Well done to the crowd sticking out to the end on such a cold and foul night.
  8. Its been rumoured since the summer that a move to the US was what OFW wanted, shame this season has turned his whole tenure at the club sour and what he will be remembered for rather than achieving a place at the Euros with Wales. Glad he's off the payroll (or hope he is) we really need to be making sure that the guys who earn the most contribute the most. Lets hope its not too late for JR to get some new faces with the cash to enhance the squad.
  9. According to BBC stats, not one shot on target from ICT until Daniel McKay came on and brought out a save from their keeper. Surely now he should be given a start on Saturday.
  10. I wonder if Mulraney is away too? He didn't seem at all interested tonight.
