  1. It is very early in the season but compared to this time last year there are so many positives. Billy is now playing his normal game. No longer a midfielder. Sole and Longstaff - Louis and Liam both exciting wingers. MacIntyre a great find. Wotherspoon a massively experienced player. The two Alfies now more experienced and more determined. Calum our new right back. Old Joe adding more experience. The squad looks very healthy. Even the pitch looked in great condition now that the old Gardiner has moved on!!!
  2. Hey, ibm, you see her every home game she has only turned 10 playing in the under 12’s. 😀 The girls did very well, won a few, drew a couple and scored some cracking goals. End of each game she came over to me at the fence and said ok what did I do wrong. I have to start focusing on the good points, but that’s what you get from a glass half empty pessimist. She lost her water bottle yesterday so we walked along the perimeter fence, me on the outside, her on the pitch side. I found a credit card and said the name on it. She said that’s one of my coaches. I am just waiting for Amazon prime guy to turn up with all the gear I ordered.
  3. A great performance today from all the team apart from a few errors, pushing forward all the time, not the sh1te we had to watch under Robbo, Dodds and big Dunc! A very enjoyable afternoon with a good support and the young team in fine voice more of the same next week please and more will come back.
  4. Not there yesterday, but looks like the comments from those that were are confirmed by this Peterhead player.
  5. Here's the goals for you...
  6. Sterner tests to come surely but can only beat what’s in front of us and we have done so impressively thus far Not often pre-season optimism stretches to three matches…and the aforementioned players still to come back…not felt this good about football for a long time…thank you Alan Savage and management and players for getting everything so sorted from the mess we were in
  7. That was more comfortable than I’d anticipated in windy conditions. Wotherspoon took his goal well after good work by Mckay in the box to lay the ball off to the impressive MacIntyre. Sole’s goal was a tap in after a good move. Other than some sloppy passing as bc has mentioned (add Savage and Devine to the list) and again picking up needless bookings, a very satisfactory afternoon and it’s good to be off the bottom of the league so soon. MacIntyre deserved the MoM award I thought MacLeod did well at right back, whilst Sole (hope his injury is not bad) and Longstaff caused problems wide, and McKay, Wotherspoon and Stewart all had good moments. Onwards and upwards.
  8. Blame it on the opposition's English goalie
  9. Well done to the under 18's today! bishbashbosh was going to see his grand daughter play today, she might be one of them and we might get a match report . My grand daughter is on the 6am bus with the under 12's tomorrow, good luck to them.
  10. The Caley Jags took a deserved lead as half time approached, the tenacity and quality of Wotherspoon on the end of a superb move. Liam Sole added a second ten minutes into the second period and that ended the scoring. Alas he went off injured soon after and with that the game went into a bit of a lull as the hosts recorded their second win to climb into positive points with Peterhead rarely troubling the home goal.
  11. I enjoyed that. We were very much the better side and I thought the attitude and effort throughout the team was excellent. There is still a lot of potential for improvement though. We gave the ball away too often and over-elaborated around the box because players didn't see the pass to a team-mate who was in a better position to hurt the opposition. Hopefully this will improve as players get to know each other better. It was strange to see the Peterhead keeper take so long about taking the goal kicks. It was as though he was resigned to defeat and was wasting time in order to keep the goal difference down. The referee was a disgrace. There were several totally bizarre decisions and almost all of them went against us. It didn't affect the result, but in a tighter game, such a woeful refereeing performance could have serious implications for the side on the receiving end. As Robert said, it was great to hear the crowd being above 2000. Indeed, it was also great just to hear the crowd. Well done to the youngsters who never stopped singing all afternoon.
  12. As a different example of ignorance, I used to get upset whenever I saw something saying that County was the "most northerly" SPFL club. I corrected The Guardian more than once, and pointed it out to other sources as well. I even set the question "which is the most northerly SPFL club" in a quiz that I was setting years ago, and was impressed that 20 out of 27 entries had the correct answer. One entrant pointed out that at that time County's own website made the claim. Easy to see why you'd think of County - you have to travel northwards from Sneck. But in fact the correct answer is Elgin City, whose ground I calculated to be about 4 miles further north than County's. Have a look at a map if you don't believe me.
  13. I agree that Sole’s was ridiculous as it was not a dive, but from the view I had of it I had no complaints about Savages. I also felt Devine was lucky not to be carded given the poor performance of the referee. Peterhead were adept at influencing his decisions. But I didn’t mean to detract from the team‘s performance as the start to the season has been excellent. 6 points and 2 clean sheets, we look a threat in front of goal again, and the players seem to be enjoying life. With Allan back, Millen and MacKinnon recovering and Davidson making progress, we have genuine competition for starting places. It was also great to hear the crowd being above 2000.
  14. Bookings were ridiculous apart from Longstaff's. Poor Poor referee who virtually decided every tackle was a foul especially when the Peterhead players shouted in agony. Easily one of the worst referees that been here and that's saying something.
  15. I’m hoping, perhaps expecting, that our home fans will see more wins this season than for many a year.
  16. It’s time to make our renamed stadium a fortress again. We’ve done better away from home than at home in too many recent seasons so I’m hoping we start a great run of home league results today. We are the team the others in this league want to beat most as we are seen as the biggest team, and we can’t expect any game to be easy. Peterhead will be confident after last week’s result, and the wind may have a part to play too. But here’s to three points!
  17. It's ok my flairs are long gone! I will behave tomorrow as I will be there with my son and grandson, got to set an example
  18. CaleyJags.ComFantastic tribute to absent friends on the above site. I'll leave this one here, one of our best known faces. 84 photos to scroll through if you hit the link to the FB page above
  19. For me it will always be the Caledonian Stadium, Caley Park the same as the Caley Hotel where I went dancing in my younger days good to get the sponsorship though.
  20. Like the tower cranes in the image. Gives a more imposing view. Offer Sarsens to advertise there plant by parking extended cranes on the open side of the ground!😃
