  1. I think we can all agree that this is a top site and we are lucky to have it. Since the advent of Facebook many clubs have closed down their fora for this very reason I hope it continues and subscribers treat others as they themselves would like to be treated. Sometimes a thick skin is useful.

  2. Well done scotty. If i want personal abuse based on inarticulate rants about politics socioeconomic issues and historical issues then i can listen to twitter. If i want baseless inarticulate freindly fiction about caley thistle i can come here for these sort of gems. Any key tropes i have missed. Vive la difference Elsdon is the new maldini Bring terry butcher back Sack robertson. Its not caley its thistle We had bigger crowds at the swimming pool when i was a boy. I once went to jail with Richie Foran. I once went to school with pauline pie. The young team did nothing wrong it was a big boy who did it and ran away. Lets have fun and if these have touched a personal nerve think about context and buying me a pint to discuss not a balaclava and a petrol bomb.

  3. No one should abuse any other poster , But to ban discussion is to be not the right policy although I can why it is considered so To put my serious head on, which I do infrequently because it reminds me of my former life, when I had to be ultra serious and not to make mistakes because it could have serious consequences, Thirty years and one day I was a firefighter in Lancashire, I went through the ranks to a moderately high level when I had to be in charge of many men ( no women in those days ), I have seen sights in fires and road accidents, I don't care to remember and in writing this I will not sleep tonight. ( Because it is all coming back) I have seen families distraught in losing their loved ones , husbands , babies, - Putting on a brave face when I had to interview them, to get the facts of the case, usually for me to give evidence at the inquest into the death . So I get a little frustrated or more than that when I see subscribers on this forum, who have never had to meet serious danger head on , decrying service personal that have put their lives on the line in foreign places when told to do by their superiors officers. How can a person who has never had more danger than sucking the lead in their pencils know what it is like to face an enemy determined to kill you, or in my case burn me to a cinder. So when the ICT club or anyone else wishes to pay tribute to those of us that protect our life style , we should be there with them one hundred percent. These people may not show it but fear is the is there every minute of the day , not just fear for themselves but fear they may put their colleagues in danger. On a personal note a close relation of mine went in on D day two hours before the main landings as part of the South Wales borderers as a CSM with the Canadians , Many of whom their main language was French, You can imagine how they felt landing to free the country that was part of their heritage,. Those Canadians landed with 5000 men and lost 5000 men in two days of fighting. The 5000 were replaced as they moved down through Normandy. A little boy saw the troops and ran into his farmhouse " mummy French soldiers outside ", "They are speaking French mummy". No amount of gibes can diminish the efforts of these soldiers , of what ever nationality, and I include German soldiers in that they had little choice in many instances., There is a high price to maintain the peace in the world. Good night and sleep tight, you owe your nights rest to the emergency services, and to the military, never forget it

  4. So this weekend, TFC drew 2-2 in Atlanta before a crowd of over 71,000 (new MLS record) . The point earned confirmed TFC with the all-time highest points scored in a season (69). 1:15 Atlanta get a penalty after video review. 1-0 to Atlanta. 2:45 Jozy Altidore makes it 1-1. Gets beer thrown at him and Seb Giovinco drinks it and throws it back 4:00 Atlanta make it 2-1 5:10 Giovinco scores another amazing free-kick to tie it up at 2-2. As Steven Caldwell says in the commentary ... sublime ! Canadian Championship Winners 2017 (qualify for the CONCACAF version of Champions League) 34 League games - 20 wins (13H), 9 draws (3H), 5 losses (1H). points per game average 2.03. 74 goals scored, 37 conceded. goals per game average 2.18 Supporters Shield Winners (League Champions) 2017 now to the MLS Cup playoffs as #1 seed. Can TFC reach the final for the second year in a row? If so, can we go one better and win it this time and in the process win the domestic treble (US/Canadian domestic Cup, Supporters Shield, MLS Cup) The omens are not good as not many teams have won the MLS Cup after winning the Supporters Shield and no-one has won the domestic treble of the US or Canadian domestic cup, the supporters shield, and then the MLS Cup ! Its been a great season, but it would end really well if TFC could do it all and win the cup final on December 9th, in Toronto (highest seed left in the competition hosts the final) .... The playoff format means TFC and New York City in the east and Portland and Seattle in the west get a bye to the semi-final whilst other teams fight it out in the knockout round. TFC could face Chicago, New York Red Bulls, Atlanta, or Columbus. We will know in a couple of days how it all shapes up as the knockout games happen tomorrow and Thursday. Really don't want Atlanta again and could do without drawing Chicago so hoping for a Red Bulls or Columbus win which should (on paper) be easier for TFC. Not too fussed about the eastern side of the draw. The top two seeds are definitely the best teams, but if Vancouver could make it all the way through and we had an all-Canadian MLS final that would be another first and an epic final (in Toronto) against two sides (and cities) who dont like each other much ! This is the playoff 'bracket' (as they call it over here) : https://www.mlssoccer.com/mls-cup-playoffs/2017/bracket

  5. I think its probably a 2 horse race between Yogi & Jim McIntyre however it is harsh on Mackinnon, last year he narrowly missed out on winning the play-off with Hibs having the biggest budget and winning the league. This season they are still in contention and its highly likely that youngsters from both St Mirren & Dunfermline may move in Jan as there is plenty positive hype around them - making the competition weaker. Regardless of who is in charge all 3 are more than capable of getting DUtd to the title.

  6. this thread has been taken so far off topic and has become so abusive between posters that I am shutting it down. If posters want to discuss the american military, jingoism, national service or anything else that is barely relevant to the topic of ICT having a forces appreciation day then start a thread in the relevant place.

  8. We were excellent today, thoroughly deserved the win and it probably should've been more. We appear to have stumbled on a formation and style that works, or it has the last two weeks anyway. We built on the performance against Falkirk and improved on it. We set up in a pretty standard 4-4-2, relatively flat in midfield with Chalmers left and Mulreany right. Vigurs and Polworth sat in the middle in front of the the same back four as previously, including returning hero Donaldson. Up front we had Baird and Bell. United had a few chances early and forced Ridgers into a reflex save from a shot (didn't see who hit it) and then we had to scramble clear from within the six yard box after a prolonged stramash. After that we really took over and started having an impact in an attacking sense. Baird and Tremarco missed headers and we had a few other openings before opening the scoring. Following a corner the ball was headed clear to Vigurs who shot in from the edge of the box. We then doubled our lead with one of the best goals I've seen us score in years. A United attack broke down around our 18 yard box and we broke with a little dink into midfield from Donaldson (I think). We then moved the ball quickly through midfield and released Mulreany with a weighted through ball. Mulreany rinsed the left back for pace and drove into the box, where he hit a driven low cross that Connor Bell drilled in from a couple of yards. It was a ******* belter, everything about it was perfect, the passing, the pace, the finish. When Mulreany got the ball I said to my mate that this would be goal of the season, I can't imagine us scoring s better one this season. We had a couple of other breaks which could've lead to goals in the first half, Mulreany, Baird and Bell all had opportunities. Into the second half and we again sat strong and broke, with Mulreany probably having the best chance when he was pit right through but didn't shoot quickly enough. Donaldson also had a header that he put over but should've got on target. United, oddly, played with their centre half Durnan up front from an hour but that had zero impact, I don't think a single chance came from it. There were a couple of set pieces that Ridgers had to save but weren't really threatening. It was nervy for the fans because we've been so bad but looking back, we cigar'd it in the second half. Overall, we were excellent. Vigurs was at the heart of everything, he ran the midfield. He has been superb this season, strolling though games and dominating possession. He can switch the play but it's the way he plays little passes to create space, flicks round the corner of players and turns with the ball that makes him so effective. He really has been a class act and is the heart of our team. Defensively we have somehow become settled and solid. Having two experienced full backs in Tremarco and Raven is a help but Donaldson has been a rock the last two weeks, defends well, no nonsense, quick and good in the air. He clearly loved getting that win, going by his celebrations at the end. He looks like being a real find. Up front Baird and Bell aren't likely to be prolific but the way they pull defenders about, hold the ball and make runs is vital to creating the space for our chances. Mulreany has kicked on in the last two weeks, another confidence filled game today, including an actual assist, miracle of miracles! Second week in a row he dominated the full back and his end product was better. Great stuff

  9. A great result and not one many of us were expecting. A clean sheet also good for confidence and goal difference. A great TEAM performance apparently ?️?

  10. You are banning discussion. You are looking threads rather than banning the offenders. Very George Orwellian like

    • Montrose 0-0 Inverness CT - Play Off 1st Leg
      FULL TIME: 0-0

All to play for on Saturday, but don't hold your breath...

However, if we continue like this, it will be our final game this season.

Best performer for us was Samson Lawal, the only bright spark on the field.

Alloa 2-2 Hamilton was the other semi-final score tonight. On this evidence, I doubt either side will be quaking in their boots.

    • Inverness CT 3-1 Morton - Report
It was a lovely evening for a game of football, what could possibly go wrong? Well, what did go wrong was Queen's Park beat an understrength Airdrie 2-0 at Hampden, therefore despite beating Morton 3-1, Inverness head for the play-offs. Morgan Boyes opened the scoring with a thumping volley after half an hour. Kirk Broadfoot benefited from slack defending to level before the break then proceeded to earn the wrath of the home support with an embarrassing celebration in front of the North Stand. Cammy Harper relieved Billy Mckay of penalty kick duties and duly slotted home from the spot ten minutes after the break. The scoring was completed just after the hour when Sean McAllister drilled home into the bottom corner. Robbie Muirhead had been sent off for simulation then taking a wee fit to himself and was promptly sent off after 58 minutes just after Harper had knocked in his penalty kick, probably aggrieved that he never earned a spot kick for his dramatic dive.

Well, where do you start. It was clear from the begining of the season that something was wrong. Poor signings, dismal performances in the League Cup followed by an abysmal start to the League campaign saw Billy Dodds removed from his position after winning one point in the first six Championship fixtures and replaced by a man with no track record as a manager. A sort of publicity stunt if you like. After the initial new manager bounce wore off, we found ourselves little better off with Big Dunc than we were with wee Billy. We did claw ourselves up to the coat tails of others but the most damning part of our season has been our inability to score goals, especially at home. Only already relegated Arbroath are worse than us. Our team is now full of mercenaries, loan players with no affiliation to our Highland pedigree and many fans have tagged us as being the worst squad ever in our short history. Where are the Golabeck's, Tokeley's, Wilson's..... Much of this can be attributed to our lack of financial nous in the boardroom, failed ventures and now the begging bowls are being put in place to save our club. Having drawn at Dunfermline last week thanks to Aribim Pepple's first goal for the club combined with Billy Mckay's penalty miss, it's now out of our own hands. LAST SIX: D L  W W L  D

    • Dunfermline 1-1 Inverness CT - Report
Out of our hands now: It ended in disappointment for the 319 visiting fans with news that Queens Park had hammered Arbroath 0-5. To rub salt into the wounds, Sheridan and Welsh were amongst the scorers. It's out of our hands now, but it's a must win next Friday and hope Queens Park falter.  Inverness play Morton and Queens play Airdrie. A draw might be enough, but it's a long shot.

I'm not convinced that Billy Mckay was the right man to be taking that penalty, his second failure from the spot in successive games against the Pars.

    • Dunfermline Ath -V- Inverness CT - Preview
Aaron Doran looks likely to have pulled on the Caley Jags strip for the last time after limping off against Raith Rovers last Friday. Sean McAllister returning was a bonus though but the mystery deepens as to why Roddy MacGregor, Austin Samuels and Nikola Ujdur are not featuring either on the injury list or the team list. Baffling to be honest as Roddy has the midfield attributes required, Austin has the speed and potential and Nikola in my opinion, if fit, would be my first choice on the team sheet. Are these guys on the way out? Add to that seven or eight loan players, then next season will see a massive restructure and rebuild at the Caledonian Stadium. I imagine the board members are squirming in their seats like Angela van den Bogerd at a Post Office inquiry.
