  1. No Mantis, he had not been ill, and had spent a normal day a week last Friday, before suffering a sudden and sadly fatal heart attack at home on Friday evening. No suffering, but a terrible shock for the family. Thoughts and sincere condolences to them - hard to believe after all these years that we will never see Gordy at the football again. Another link to the past broken.
  2. This has been a fantastic season, most exciting for years, but I'm glad we're back where we belong!!!
  3. Fantastic result today. County now 16 points behind us with 4 games in hand, so really just us and Dundee now. Looking forward to Dunfermline game already!
  4. Hamilton came on early in the second half and was very impressive - made a big impact with his pace and all round performance. Must say I really enjoyed the game, and even at under 20 level the physical side was tremendous - huge tackles going in and fitness levels amazing. Best entertainment at the stadium for quite a while!
  5. Just in from the game. Fully deserved three points today, tho didnt look like we were going to get them as we created and missed so many chances. Fair play to Rooney for taking the second penalty after missing the first one (to be fair their keeper saved it well). Great performance from Hayes, well deserved MOM. Given ourselves a chance now if we can keep this run going.
  6. They have access to tools on the site Far too many tools on the site if you ask me! :hale:
  7. Defence was once again very suspect today, and both goals were preventable. Having said that, second half was much better and we would have been worth a draw if we could have taken one of the fairly easy chances that we created. Overall I thought we actually played quite well at times today, but until we get more solid at the back we are going to lose more than we win.
  8. Midfield is completely ineffective these days and that is a major problem - almost nothing created for the strikers and no assistance for the defenders. Cox and Stratford contribute a bit of running about with no end product, and Proctor in midfield is just a stop gap at best. Meanwhile we have Roy Mcbain, with 5 years SPL experience, getting his first few minutes of the season today as sub - something wrong there?
  9. Have yet to see anything from Rooney to suggest he deserves to start as striker. He wins nothing in the air, his first touch is dreadful and he lacks pace. Very noticeable today that most of our offensive threat disappeared when Foran came off (why?) and Rooney came on.
  10. Agree with the above. Hamilton were a disgrace, and the SPL would be well rid of them. Having said that, we were woeful in the first half and only slightly better in the second - the work rate increased but that was about it. Never has our lack of a striker been more obvious than today. It took a big deflection from a scuffed midfielders shot to get us our goal, but thank god for it! Imrie in particular was an empty shirt today, but tbh nobody really shone. Nervous times ahead for sure, but we are four points off the bottom and not four points adrift as we were under the previous regime.
  11. Interested to know if you agree with what seems to be general opinion that the standard in the SPL is probably as poor as it has ever been, including the OF. If so, why do you think this is - cant be just down to money (or lack of it)?
  12. Hi John - whats your view on the Kris Boyd situation? How can it be sorted, and do we even want it sorted - would he be an asset to the international team?
  13. For me, Gazza was quite simply the most talented footballer I have been fortunate enough to see for myself. A natural footballing genius - sad to see him as he is now. Laudrup and Larsson would definately be the other two.
  14. The trouble is we dont have the luxury of a few games to see if it works - every game and every point is vital now. I thought Morais was pretty anonymous yesterday, and Imrie is certainly no striker, so I would go with Rooney and Foran to start up front against Killie - just think those two have the potential to score some goals together which might see us still in the SPL next season. Need to find a proper striker in the summer though.
  15. Exactly - lots of effort, pressure and posession but no strikers. Hopefully we will have enough about us to stay up this season, but an experienced striker is a priority for the summer.
  16. Not posted missing - they certainly could not be faulted for effort and deserved to take something from the game. However, as I said a week or two back I think our lack of a genuine striker could kill us in the end. Imrie works hard but is not a natural finisher, and same goes for Odhiambo. Rooney has the potential, but is not there yet. Thats the difference between winning and losing games like today.
  17. Not that it matters, but how did this end up in the non-ict section? Just about the whole article is about us and our relegation battle - how is that not ICT related?
  18. We are the subject of the strange ones thoughts this week. Seems he may be changing his mind about us being relegation certs! http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/chickyoung/2009...ent_battle.html
  19. My only worry is that there will not be enough end product - goals - between Imrie and Odhiambo, which after all is what you need your strikers to provide. Both are pacy, and movement is good, but you dont get three points for that unfortunately.
  20. I know exactly what you mean. The last two or three seasons have been boring towards the end - this one will be anything but. Bring it on - I love happy endings! :thumb04:
  21. I dont think Kilmarnock are out of danger yet either - they are in freefall at the moment and look like a team very low on confidence. No worries - the "Butcher Bounce" will save us!
  22. I'm sorry but do you really believe all this? Brewster only played 4-4-2 because of postings on this site? "Natural side" isn't more suitably for 4-4-2 (as he did for Hearts match)? Esson got his chance not because Fraser had had a few bad games but because the fans had noticed this too? Otherwise Brewster would not have noticed at all that Mikey was going through a bad spell or would have ignored it? Choosing whether to play McGuire, Proctor or Duff at CB isn't a tough decision with arguments in all directions? Striker rotation isn't a policy adopted by a lot of Managers, plus is needed to give them all a chance to put their hand up for a start when nobody's been outstanding. And, shock horror, the Manager doesn't lay his plans out for the delectation of the CTO Championship Manager RPG crew. Isn't it wonderful, everyone can complain if he doesn't play their pet system and selections, and then when he does they can moan about it again. Spectre - blind faith inevitably leads to a dead end. His performance with Dundee United, where he was given considerably greater resources than he has here, should have been warning enough. Had they not acted when they did they would have been relegated, and he has simply carried the same performance here with him. There is no Gretna to save us this season, and every press interview he gives increases the impression that here is a man at a loss as to how to turn this around. Returning to the first division would be a disaster for the club on every level - action must be taken asap.
  23. The CROWD at todays game were shocking!!? I have had the misfortune to attend every home game in 2008 and after what we've witnessed its a wonder there is any crowd at all! One inept performance after another, team and tactics (tactics?) varying wildly from one game to the next - I have been supporting football in Inverness regularly for the last 40 years and I can honestly say I have never felt less enthusiasm for going to a home game than i do just now. Considering the high ticket prices and the standard of entertainment on offer its little wonder that the home crowd has been numbed into silence!
