  1. I don't see anybody claiming we'll beat France apart from a couple of the younger posters on here. The general mood amongst our media is that we can scrape a draw (personally I think it'll be about 3-0). The fact is we punch above our weight in the rankings for a nation of 5 million, apart from when Berti was in charge and we managed to punch below our weight.. England consistently fail when measured against nations of similar size, e.g. Germany, Italy, and even much smaller nations such as Portugal and Netherlands.
  2. I set that up but thought nobody would tap it in :clapping03:
  3. You obviously stood at the other end though :004: I stood at both ends but there was a substantally better atmosphere and view from the Howden End. I'm glad to see that you know your Telford Street geography ! :sillywave: Yep, and sampled the product on a few occasions too :drunk01:
  4. What, for saying the Fort have a mountain to climb? So you reckon Spartans is just a molehill then?
  5. That's it over. 0-0.
  6. The home fans have just been finding out what away fans at VP have put up with for years. The away toilet facilities were rubbish too any time we've been there.
  7. Thistle all end in tears you know :019:
  8. Drawing you mean. Ukraine were winning with a minute left- as good as a defeat though. Goalless at half time in Milan :021:
  9. Anybody remember the ad (Tennents?) with the guy in London who chucks his briefcase in the bin and comes back to Scotland? All to the strains of Frankie Miller and 'Caledonia'.
  10. I think if it's your first season he buys you a drink every week.
  11. You obviously stood at the other end though :004:
  12. Worked that time anyway. Was staying in Riof/Reef last week but never saw the great man this time.
  13. Your link needs a login Hairy....
  14. It's called 'Going Home'. Good idea even if we'd be copying Newcastle. Love the film, must have seen it a dozen times. For years I kept suggesting 'Battle' by Wolfstone but I think the Tinks have stolen it now.
  15. What round does the seeding end anyway? The semis maybe? But yes, you're paranoid.
  16. Nobody needs to be ashamed of liking Queen before about 1977. They were a great band and very influential. However, as Mr Naelifts will tell you with a yawn, I cannot let mention of Queen go by without saying Freddie was influenced by touring with Mott the Hoople and there would have been no Bohemian Raspberry without Marionette.
  17. Aye, they were fined ?200 which Jimmy Falconer gladly stumped up on the spot apparently. The game I mentioned was in 92-3 (October) while the Urq header was 93-4 (May). So there was a year and a half between them.
  18. Not long before the merger, a soaking wet day. Caley 2 up at half time and cruising. The Jags scored twice to equalise then Wilsie Robertson scored a 25 yard screamer past Jim Calder in injury time at the Howden End to the delight of all the completely dry Caley fans.
  19. Second away game in a row when all I've seen of ICT was a flash of the lights from the team bus as I headed down the A9 on the Saturday night. :007:
  20. Racey. I'd kick their heids in. Prog is the bollox though.
  21. Fawlty Towers. No contest. The mini Mantises got me the DVD box set years ago. They still buy me Blackadder, Office, Extras etc but 12 episodes of old Basil does it every time.
  22. That reminds me of a mate of mine back in the 70s when the double decker buses had the door at the back. He was out on the pish and got the bus home. He sat on the long sideways seat at the back door and asked the conductor to wake him up at his stop. When the conductor shook him he just jamp :002: out the door onto the pavement, but the bus was still moving at the time and he got a trifle bashed.
  23. Last year I put two contact lenses in the same eye. Also- Mrs Mantis works in a load of different chemist shops as a locum. One day I drove her to Musselburgh in the morning. Then at 5 o'clock I sat outside Penicuik branch waiting for her until she rang my mobile and gave me a mouthful of abuse.
  24. Mickey Rourke as 10CC
  25. Letting the top juniors in is a step forward. They should let more in (only 3 this year instead of 4, as Linlithgow Rose qualify on 2 counts). They will leather Newton Stewart about 12-0, you heard it here first. Same with Pollok v St Cuthberts. Not so sure about the new format though, many of these clubs will struggle to afford the bus for these North/South clashes. Lossie should beat Whitehill, who are a shadow of the team of the late 90s who won at Elgin & Fraserburgh. I think the Clach tie will be very close- how about an early kick-off to avoid ICT v Falkirk- but Fort William have a mountain to climb!
