  1. i agree suprised about both
  2. profile of Kelly from the Derry website:
  3. Great post, completely agree!
  4. found this on Darren Kelly who according to rumours is attarcting the attention of CC, sounds ok anyway: quoted fromthe derry city website
  5. i understand that permanent defensive signings would be ideal but seeing as were already into the season, have 4 experienced defenders and have not had much luck signing defensive cover then i think Virgo and/or Cuthbert would be good additions to the squad. Its highly unlikley that either player is likely to feature in the celtic first team this season so surely some top team football is better than none. They both seem like versatile players so could provide cover/competition and possibly even become first 11 players until we can secure defenders on permanent deals. virgo - The versatile 23-year-old played at right-back and centre-back, while proving to be a prolific goalscorer when utilised as a stand-in striker and was recommended to Gordon Strachan by former Celt and then Brighton manager, Mark McGhee. Cuthbert - A product of the Celtic Youth Academy who was first included in the first-team squad three years ago, Scottish youth internationalist Cuthbert is a commanding central defender who is comfortable on the ball. Cuthbert has forged a formidable defensive partnership with Darren O?Dea at both Under-19 and reserve levels in recent seasons and is seen a defender of massive potential. He is expected to captain the Scotland Under-20 side at this summer?s World Cup.
  6. dont think its fair to single out one player for being rubbish at the U20's as they pretty much were all crap! Cuthbert obviously is still showing potential otherwise he wouldnt still be a Celtic and i think he would relish a move like this to prove doubters wrong, Virgo i think could be a great addition if we get him too
  7. Article from P&J here:
  8. yeah good idea
  9. More than i thought, so we could guesstimate around ?1million for a stand of simliar construction/design for the west side of the ground.
  10. There's actually a thread about that over on Pie and Bovril [HERE] ...... the suggestion is that it would take MANY MILLIONS to re-route the pipe as it is a national transmission pipeline with gas under far higher pressure than regular run of the mill pipes or even gas mains .... i saw the thread there Scotty but remained sceptical as it was a rangers fan known for posting dubious material who started the thread and i have been aware how many wind ups appear on that site not to read too much into what is posted there. I thought maybe someone on this site might have known. Going back to my initial post on this thread this is something i'd like to see, i dont think it is necessarily needed at the moment, its not something i deem a priority at present, everyone likes to see their club progress and expand and i'm no different
  11. I can understand the logic, but a 3000 seat stand would cost millions and even if you did fill it 3 or lets be generous and say 4 times per season it would quite possibly take 10 years to bring in money to cover just the capital costs let alone allowing any of that income to pay for stewarding maintenance and upkeep. Lets also not forget that a 3000 seat stand is probably never going to be built opposite the main stand as there is a trifling little matter of a high pressure gas pipe underground between the stadium and the A9 that would make that impossible if we were to install a stand similar in construction to the ones we have behind the goals, would they be as expensive as millions? cant remember how much the north and south stands cost to build from memory. Does anyone actually know how much it would actually cost to re-route the gas main if it is a viable option? someone who works in a civil engineering firm once told me that in a project he worked on, that re-routing a gas main isnt cheap running into many tens of thousands, whether that is comparible to our case i do not know.
  12. to generate money, one has to speculate to accumulate. lets say we fill it 3 times a season, lets say 3000 seats @ ?25 per head, thats ?225k? any point in adding ?225k to the coffers?
  13. :015: very true but why should we pay to help them!
  14. it would be cheaper but another stand would generate revenue, a scoreboard is pointless other than reminding fans what the score is, i feel quite comfotable in the knowledge that i can remember how many goals have been scored in a game and can tell the time on my watch suffice to know when half time should be! do you honestly think ICT should get a scoreboard for the stadium rather than improving the facilities?
  15. a 4th stand would provide the cacpacity for growth of our clubs support, as a young growing club we need somewhere to put potential fans, agreed we would only fill it maybe a few times a year but hopefully that will happen more often as our team grows. How many teams fill their stadium to capacity every game of the season? not many i'd predict! a much better idea than wasting loads of money on a fancy scoreboard that is neither needed nor beneficial in any way!
  16. theres a difference between what is needed and what 'luxuries' fans would like for the stadium. I think score boards would fall under the luxuries category. IMO we need more turnstiles, a tarred car park with stewards/traffic wardens directing traffic. However i would like to see a fourth stand and a pub built for match day beers! :drinking09:
  17. the irish guy who was on trial impressed Killie but they didnt pursue the deal because Derry wanted ?50k, why take him on trial if they werent prepared to meet his valuation. :008: IIRC he's on trial at Dundee untied but Gretna and ourselves were rumoured ot have expressed an interest
  18. get in!!!! :crazy07:
  19. i agree, i cringed quite a few times when tokely went in on beasley. :blob09: ha ha
  20. I think the fact Webb can't get a game for Ross County tells us all we really need to know :023: That doesnt mean he couldnt do a job for us, Graham Bayne couldnt get a game for County before he came to us, look at him now, an integral part of the team who was sorely missed at the weekend.
  21. I'm with IHE's line-up on this one. Definitely need Duncan back in the team to mop things up. Webb i think would be a good addition i think, international player, looked decent anytime ive seen him play, i'm sure ive seen him play centre half too which were crying out for too.
  22. Libero

    Sylla

isnt he a midfielder though? dont really think we need any more midfielders, defence is surely the priority
  23. great to have highlights so soon after the game, just a shame it was so painful to watch! :007:
  24. agree with that tm4tj
  25. pretty much agree with that, 95% of the banter was excellent, highly amusing, inventive and continual, all through the game. i was on the whole impressed with the vocal presence however there were a few chants which were not appropriate particularly one chap who took it a bit too far on a few occasions , think he was ejected in the end. tony Bullock took all the banter directed at him in great humour as usual so fair play to him. Also i cant see how the constant booing and jeering of Rory is going to be productive either. The chants of 'Rory is sh1te' isnt gonna help him at all. I'm not his biggest fan either and have yet to see the potential he shows in training but booing him like yesterday is not gonna help the lad one bit. Every team has a few idiots who let the fans down but my overall impression of the support yesterday was excellent.
