  1. Dont get me wrong....Im quite happy with 20 mins to dl a movie...and a 1.5 mins for an album, but obviously.....if it could be even better......ad be even happier Those speeds i mention are at the very top end of what I can acheive, the average dl time is normally quite a lot slower!
  2. So you're getting a 7.1Mbps service delivered to your door and getting as far as your router. That's pretty good really. I wouldn't say you're losing much speed. There will of course be latency issues on how you're connecting to your router but that's to be expected - especially if you are connecting via 802.11g Wi-Fi. So....its quite acceptable to be getting 7.1 Mbps to your router, but only be recording speeds (from speedtester sites) of about 3.9 Mbps? its not far off half the speed coming in and to me...thats a fair drop if it makes any difference, im using the white BT Home Hub. I also have the black one, lying unopened upstair.
  3. If I see ya Dee....al give ya a wee wave. I will probably be at the bus stop and most definitley be wearing a hat of some sort...most likely a baseball cap...just so you know! Went into my hub...and it says: Your broadband line is connected. Broadband connection details: Downstream 7,104 Kbps Upstream 448 Kbps So....what does that mean in relation to the actual speed im getting? Am i losing speed somewhere?
  4. Im in Castlehill Drive Dee. I think i might have noticed your van before. Is your work something to do with communications? Im quite often at the Bus stop just on Caulfield Road North. As far as BT goes.....i have to say....now that i know how to handle them, they are pretty good at sorting any issues out. I only went with them coz i wanted some new toys (the BT HUB and Phone and BT VIsion). Took a while to get to this position tho. I get a consistant speed throught the day. I landed myself a good deal....as I am on option 3...the all singing all dancing service...which is supposed to be ?25 per month. But...because of the speed issues i had been suffering in the past, and the fact am a fly wee monkey...i negotiated a ?10 reduction in cost. It also helped that when i did it...my contract with them was due for renewal. So i tried the old...surley some money from me is better than none routine..(ie...threaten them to take your business elsewhere)..and it worked! Also....i have this theory that because BT still own the exchanges, BT customers will get a preferential service.
  5. Oh....and Dee......when i checked my number against the BT broadband speed checker thing, it did say that the expected speed on that line was just under 6 Meg. I think you need to be getting onto your ISP. Ive had to do it a few times to get the speed i now do. I too watch a lot of youtube clips and couldnt live with the stuttering. I think the 2 Meg your recieving isnt really acceptable in this day and age
  6. Yeah Dee....I am indeed in Cradlehall, in the Castlehill area. I think the exchange we run off is actually at the Cradlehall shops. Im pretty sure of that. I just did a speedtest and got this result As i say..i believe i actually have about 6 meg coming into the house, but somewhere, im loosing over 2 meg
  7. My preferrence is for Firefox. I find IE clunky and unreliable to say the least!
  8. Are you sure about your numbers Georgios? If you're correct...it means you could dl a movie in 4 mins and an album in 20 secs? Sounds a little unbelievable for up here. I only get about 4Meg here...although, according to BT...i have over 6 Meg coming into the house...so where is the 2 meg going?
  9. I was just wondering, what is considered a good download speed up here? I have been getting some excellent speeds (from my point of view). Today, i was getting 650ish kB/s which equates to downloading a movie in about 20 mins. I have also downloaded an album in about a minute and a half. How does this stack up against the rest of you?
  10. I dont expect 100% sucsess. But....i do expect us to be able to take care of teams like Ayr, Airdre etc. I posted yesterday that at this stage, i would have expected us to be on about 11-12 pts. Thats basically allowing for the dropping off 6-7 pts in 6 games. I think thats not to unrealistic and unreasonable achievment to be reaching
  11. Thats pretty bad DC. My dad (OAP) was walking down Caley Rd one night...and there was a crowd of youths behind him. He reckons they tried to mug him cause they tried to click his heels trying to knock him over. Its a blessing they didnt...coz if i found out who it was......their legs would be broken!
  12. What happened DC?
  13. I must say......i dont seem to get hassled for money or whatever from the dregs ever
  14. Last i heard, there was an estimated 10 000 eastern europeans in the Inverness area Yup, add to that the VERY high number of Junkies in the city now too.....way too many wastes of space!
  15. Sounds good to me :sleep01:
  16. Phone Sony and quote them the Sale Of Goods Act and make out that you know your rights. Sale Of Goods act basically states that Goods bought should last a reasonable length of time. You have a STRONG arguement at only 18 months use that the goods were not of a reasonable quality! Be assertive but polite with them and am sure they will cave in. Also add, if they try and dismiss you, you will involve Trading Standards or seek to exercise your right to take them to court for damages (the cost of repair or replacement) This can Be done for up to 5 yrs after purchase in Scotland. I would point out you are prepared to do this if required, but would be sure that neither yourself or the manufacturer would want to go down that course of action through choice.
  17. You always get a diddy team outperforming their true position at the start of a league, which in this case, is C*unty. IMHO, we should have been aiming to be sitting with 11-12 pts at this time....so we are behind what i would have expected.
  18. You sound like a manager there Stevie!
  19. Meh....makes it worse coz the soap dodgers won :007:
  20. IMHO 1-1 is two points dropped!!
  21. I think the main issue with Inverness is the number of undesireables has gone through the roof....both incomers and locals who have gone to pot (so to speak). And the cause in my eyes...is heavy duty drugs. I include people i grew up with in this. The streets are full of these types now, that look like a bunch of extras from a zombie movie. We have to face facts, Its only gonna get worse. Its all part and parcel of being the fastest growing city in western europe! And...to those who cite the 12am curfew as a reason to leave...you really need to wake up and smell the coffee. Its no reason to consider moving away! When i was a fledgling boozer (20 yrs ago)....pubs shut at 11-45 on a saturday night. You can now drink till 3am. its a huge difference. And i reckon if the UHI comes to fruition....the "scene" will improve no end for the younger ones in Sneck.
  22. Eh? Why not? i have seen several bands do it on glasgow green..(the last being Radiohead last summer)..which is basically the same as the bught (big open space with no fencing). Fair enuff, i think it holds about 30 000. And thats with no ready made car parking near also! It just be cool to see a big act play up here. even in a marquee. Some of the big ones can hold about 20 000+ people.
  23. I'd imagine it would be possible to get 15 - 20 thousand in TCS. Would much more than that turn up at the Bught. Also why give the council the money to waste when ICT can benifit from it. Im talking a PROPER outdoor gig...with 40,000-50,000 + people (which rules out TCS). I am of the belief that if you get a good act...people will travel and be happy to pay to see the act. Am talking about an act of the caliber of Rolling Stones, U2 etc. Why couldnt they move away from the bog standard Hampden or Murrayfield Stadiums.
  24. Am not Rod Stewart fan....and i wont be planning to go...but am all for this sort of thing happening in Inverness. Shame we cant get a big act to play Bught Park. That would easily hold a huge crowd.
  25. The Scottish football leagues are the best attended (per head of population) in Europe!
