    The derby

Hey TM4TJ, I wanted to know where to catch some Fiddle & Accordion music so that I could celebrate the fact that we were on the verge of promotion after victories over Ross Co & Raith Rov. Honest, my enquiry was derby related ! :)
  4. Smee :- No way is it sad to go to a game yourself. The only reason folk are a bit uptight about going to a game on their own is simply because they're worried that others think that by being on their own means they must be unpopular. Last month my son and I were going to the Scotland-Czech match with my mate and his son. On the day of the match my son, my mate and his son all came down with a virus leaving me (billy no mates) with no one to go with. I ended up thourghly enjoying the game, obviously I love going to games with my son, but I found that with no distractions I could really get into the game.
  5. Yep Stevie I too think this is the key factor. Both Brewster & Butcher (until October) didn't give Rooney a decent run in the team, I don't think it's a coincidence that our fortunes have changed since that time. Hypothetical, I know but I remain convinced that Rooney could have kept us in the SPL given the chance, but hey that's in the past ! Russell Duncan replaced Stratford at the same time as our season turned, that too must be a major factor.
  6. That was a brilliant night of results. Dundee dropping 2 points is excellent and I tell you what, the Partick thistle result was absolutely superb too, cause Dunfermline were becoming a major worry to me, they were THE inform team in the division (other than ourselves of course) they've come from nowhere, this is a major set back to them ! This is developing into an extremely exciting situation. Can't wait for Saturday !
  7. I sincerely hope you're right Johnboy, but I've got a horrible feeling that Dundee will go on a good run now. You know the scenario, change the manager and results improve. However good or bad Chisholm turns out to be, the initial "freshness" wont run out until the season is done. Dundee have been clever here, changing their boss at the right time. I'm obviously desperately hoping we can match them until the last game, and then take them on the last day.
  8. I definately want Queens to beat Dundee. Can't see it though, I'd imagine Dundee will start winning again, you know the "new manager syndrome" thing
  9. Slainte. Just had a wee look at their website, have they always been in Church St ? I don't remember it being there
  10. SCARLETT PIMPLE :- I'll not quote your lenghty post, suffice to say I agree with everything you say, it's shocking in this day and age the way in which this world conducts itself regarding animal slaughter. Like yourself I barely eat any meat at all now, I'll admit I still go for stuff like lentil soup made with Ham bone but really , in this day and age do we really need to eat meat ? SCOTTY :- like yourself I'm not an activist type, I will sign the petition thing though, Im not sure though I could watch THE COVE though, I watched a programme once re- seal slaughter, I wasn't right for a couple of days after, utterly shocking, horrendous what those excuse of a human being sorts can do.
  11. We're heading to Inverness in a couple of weeks time, to see the Raith game and have a wee break. It's 2 or 3 years since we've stayed overnight in Inverness. Whats the best pub for ceilidh music ? (sat night) I know previously, you can get a great night in The Gellions, although if my memory serves me right, the live music had a tendancy to finish around 8ish for some reason. Cheers.
  12. I'll be watching. Even more interesting now that Chisholm has moved to Dens.
  13. Finished @ 1-1. We're gonna get you !
  14. Aye that's right 15 goals in the league from just 16 starts, a fantastic return. Makes you think that had Butcher played Rooney at the start of the season we'd be clear at the top. I'd go further than that and say that had we played Rooney more last season we would still be in the S.P.L. I constantly asked the question, on this forum, last season and at the start of this one, basically saying, why are we not playing our best striker ? In the league last season Rooney got a measly 10 starts scoring 5 goals (still our top scorer) both Barrowman & Garry Wood started more games and they didn't get 5 between them. You may say that the boy wasn't playing as well last season as he is this, I'd counter that by saying he never got a decent run, Brewster giving him 7 starts and Butcher just 3 ! Och well, I don't see him sitting on the bench in the forseeable future.

    Morton

I see Morton's big commanding Centre- Half Stewart Greacen got himself sent-off on Saturday. No need for him to be heading up the A9 this weekend then
  16. It's really developing into a very exciting situation. Tomorrow nights game is so, so important, don't reckon it's a the judgement day position yet, so saying it would be a massive blow if we lost. If I'm honest I am very surprised at Dundee's poor record in the last few months. The players that they'd gathered for this season suggested they'd collect the title with relative ease. Not so. I'm being optimistic here but the way I'm looking at it is to assume that we'll beat Q.O.S. tomorrow and Morton on Saturday, that will put us 3 points behind Dundee AND we've still got them at our place. (okay I know they'd still have a game in hand. Home form is going to be crucial, we've got 5 of our next 7 at home, let's hope the team get good support. The games against Ross Co. are going to be crucial too. All in all it's great going into this stage with so many impotant games. Here's hoping
  17. Morton match on the Tuesday followed by the Czech Rep game on the Wednesday ! I'm gonna be popular :(
  18. Interesting. I don't know if I'm being pessimistic though, but had a wee look at Dundee's run-in last night and I thought it looked fairly easyish. So saying they got beat by Airdrie a couple of weeks ago , so who knows.
  19. Not for the first time lots of fans go for Shinnie at L.B. You kind of get the idea that Butcher will be one of the few who don't though. In fairness I've never seen Shinnie, so I shouldn't really comment.........but I will. Give Shinnie a shot !
  20. Sometimes you see some publications showing maps of the Highlands as a diagonal line going from just north of Glasgow running to Stonehaven. The correct line runs in a kinda arc. I've had a wee look at wikipedia, if you type in "Scottish Highlands" you get the right idea
  21. Aye Walker was born in Aberdeen, so that rules him out. I'm pretty sure neither Elgin or Keith are in the Highlands either.
  22. I know for a fact Willie Johnston used to sit on the ball. Not sure about Baxter
  23. Didn't you know Dunoon is situated in the Highlands
  24. Aye Nevin is definately a Glaswegian. There was an interesting question doin the rounds on TAMB recently. Asked how many Highlanders had been capped since the war. Believe it was only 6. Ted Macdougall (Inverness) Stewart Houston (Dunoon) Bryan Gunn (Thurso) Duncan Shearer (Fort William) John McGinlay (Inverness) Don Cowie (Inverness)
