Okay - a real tear jerker for you here.
My friend died a few years ago aged on 42 from the dreaded big C. She had been ill and fought for a number of years. She had been dealt a fairly tough life, but was one of the most amazing people I have ever met. She had two grown up children (one of them with a disability), but she did a wonderful job of bringing them up and made sure that things were in place for their future. She lost a baby by cot death and her way of coping with her illness was that it was now time to be reunited with her baby. She had this song at her funeral and not a dry eye in the house.
Tears In Heaven
by Eric Clapton and Will Jennings
Would you know my name
If I saw you in heaven?
Would it be the same
If I saw you in heaven?
I must be strong
And carry on,
'Cause I know I don't belong
Here in heaven.
Would you hold my hand
If I saw you in heaven?
Would you help me stand
If I saw you in heaven?
I'll find my way
Through night and day,
'Cause I know I just can't stay
Here in heaven.
Time can bring you down,
Time can bend your knees.
Time can break your heart,
Have you begging please, begging please.
Beyond the door,
There's peace I'm sure,
And I know there'll be no more
Tears in heaven.
Would you know my name
If I saw you in heaven?
Would it be the same
If I saw you in heaven?
I must be strong
And carry on,
'Cause I know I don't belong
Here in heaven.
The other song they played was by Beautiful South - 'need a little time'. Which was very appropriate as she had suffered a lot and as the end got nearer she asked people to stop visiting and phoning as she just needed a little time.
