ICT v Albion Rovers : Match Thread
"Straford strikes me as being a bit like Duncan....never does anything that really makes him stand out, but plays a simple game with very few mistakes." CaleyD I agree with you and indeed there were a couple of lads behind me at the game and they were talking about Stratford in the same way. Our defending tonight however, was rubbish.. Play like that against County and we will get beat!! Was Rossco trying to out Bomb Scare Lionel? What a difference in Haynes (seems to be losing weight and finding some match fitness) he certainly looks to have some talent, his ball control is brilliant and he is keen to take guys on. I really cannot fault what TB is doing style wise, with the addition of talents of his new players, he's got us playing attractive, passing football using the full width of the pitch.. It's so much better to watch than Brewsters long ball garbage. Cox has me asking "Who was Ian Black?" and he was a player I didn't think we could replace...

ICT Financial Accounts-YE 31/05/09
"?2 mil in the red in 98/99 and then managed to turn everything around to become a profitable club" What you say is true, however we didn't turn it around as in "pay it back the hard way". Having said that we also didn't do a Livi and go insolvent and pay back 5p in the ?.. But Sutherland pulled some kind of buisness accounting "smoke and lights trick" and the debt vanished. I don't think anyone really knows or understands where this debt went just that it was lost from ICT's books. I think it is still there but owed and owned by another company, rather than ICT the club. There are a few on here that worry one day it will come back in some way and bite us on the bum.. one way or another.

Anthony Stokes
There is more too this. From what I've heard Stokes has been having problems keeping himself together and his playing career was suffering as a result. He is rather too much the party animal shall we say and he realises this is no good for his career. Yogi is well known in football circles to have walked the walk and come through other side. Stokes knows this from his time at Falkirk, and he knows that Yogi can help him with these demons and help him be all he can be.. This is why Stokes has taken a massive pay cut to come up to Hibs..

Team for county
I'd give Eagle the first half at least, he usually starts but tends to fade... (fitness?), but is effective to start with. I think the reason he is getting critisised so much is that he's not very good when it comes to taking players on. He needs to work on his physical strength. He's also left footed and has been playing too much on the wrong side. However, he's a better, passer, crosser of the ball than we have had here ... the Norwich fans saw him as poor mans Beckham I guess if you play him to his strengths then he will be fine. What I don't understand is that he has played several times for Norwich reserves as a defender. Even I think I could bully him and pass him!!

Smoking area for half time
Realistically, if the person sitting next to you is a smoker they will prob smell a bit of stale smoke anyhow (whether they go for a fag or not). I don't like the smell of booze on a person. Since I stopped drinking it's really obvious to me. Should we ban that as well, after all drinkers cost the NHS ?millions in hospital visits each year ?? Not to menton the crime that often is associated with drunken behaviour. Perhaps you should stay in your house, close all the windows and wrap yourself in cotton wool so you don't ever have to risk being subjected to car fumes and the reak of stale smoke. I will also bet if it was a attractive young busty blond smoker who was sitting beside you at TCS and she wanted to snog you, you would have no objection. Live and Let Live...

Freedom of movement!! The ability to come and go from stadium at my will. CaleyD you are right, I could pay... but why should I? I'm not going to pay to have my civil liberties restored, I suggest this is a massive social injustice and very very wrong!

Smoking area for half time
This really is an unbelievable situation, members of the Kingsmills club can get out for a fag at half time no prob. Normal punters cannot. Do members of the Kingsmills club get special golden match day tickets that don't have the words "No Readmitance" on them ? I don't think so.. !! So if you are a buisness man who might invest in club we don't want to treat you like a prisoner, feel free to come and go! But if you are a normal paying fan who sits in the stands we will revoke your civil liberties and hide behind our small print terms and conditions.....

Inverness CT 3-0 Stranraer (FT)
We deffo looked better last night. Why can't we have a ref like that every game?? He was so much better than what we usually get. I thought Sanchez did ok, he scored one and was unlucky with another couple. Foran should have had 5.. Eagle did ok to my mind. Haynes had a much better game, when he came to us he certainly lacked match fitness perhaps he's starting to get some. The only player I struggle to give pass marks too is Rooney (to my mind he lacks ball control). I also think, we are much better attack wise when Rossco plays. He can be very effective running down the wing.

Smoking area for half time
I fail to see how opening and closing a door at half time costs any money.. There are plenty of security people who are employed to stand about anyway... Addicts are some of the most strong willed people you will ever meet, ask anyone who works with them... nicotine has been proven to be as addictive as heroin. So I don't really think self control is the issue, if you were an addict you would realise it's nearly as simple as that.

"You are born Working class. You CANNOT move to middle class. Even with all the money in the world. If you started working class then you had to WORK for your money. So you cannot move out of your class. Sounds stupid, you may not agree. But its true." DornochCaley So middle class people don't work for their money?? You are confusing the middle class with the upper class!!. Sorry but your concept of middle class is wrong, it's not so much about money, more about job status, attitude and education. My Father was brought up in a family of 5 in a 2 room and kitchen (council flat) in Glasgow, his dad was a joiner (so at this point he was a working class kid). He left home at 17 and did 2 university degrees and became a church Minister . He married a teacher who's parents were wealthy professionals and came from a posh area of Glasgow. His brother got a degree and a teaching qualification and became a school dept. headmaster he also married a teacher. So both brothers went from working class to middle class. ** Sorry about going off topic again ! **

That's exactly what I would like them to do. There would be no need for bands as you could just show your ticket if required.

Smoking area for half time
I've tried packing it in.. I've a history of success with packing in addiction having stopped drinking due to addiction many years ago. However, I'm finding stopping smoking impossible... the help isn't the same... When I came off booze I was able to stay in a clinic for a while away from it. and was given drugs to keep my calm through the withdrawals. Sadly, no such treatment is avaliable to heavy smokers (that I have found!) And what about those who choose to smoke??
-
Smoking area for half time
It may do, but because it states as a term and condition does not mean necesserily it's legally enforcable. Anyhow, how often does someone get tannoyed to move there car ect.. presumably these people get back in?

Smoking area for half time
Personally, I don't see why I cannot leave the stadium and come back in. Surely this is an infringment of my personal liberty and might be challengable in a court of law..??
-
Smoking area for half time
I'd rather not break the law! and why should other non-smokers have to put up with my second hand smoke in an enclosed area.. Surely a sensable solution could be found. At a recent cup game I was able to get outside thanks to the fact that some reasonable person had left the door where the Aberdeen Angus van (wasn't there) usually is open..

Smoking area for half time
I am an addicted smoker and find it uncomfortable to go 1 hour 45mins + without a fag. I'm sure many other fans are the same. Could we have a smoking area so that those of us with this problem, could at least get a fag at half time. As far as I understand it, I cannot leave the stadium at half time for a fag and come back in.. This is daft, if I go to see a play at Eden Court I can.. I'm a paying customer, what I do in the break and where I go, is surely up to me. Why can I not do so at TCS? Do other clubs provide an area??

Interesting comment birdog. Would a fanatic miss several minutes of a game by going to get a pie? Or leave the ground 10 mins early? I doubt it!!

I agree there is a problem, what we have now have is a bigger underclass.. but I stand by my original statement that Inverness is mostly middle class, the middle class in the UK has grown hugely in % terms, due to home ownership, education and the change in jobs from manufacturing to service areas. This thread is going off topic somewhat... perhaps we need a new thread on anything goes to discuss economic demographics.

I think as a cab driver I know Inverness better than most, yes there are areas of Inverness that are poor, but as a percentage of the whole city.. it's only a small part. What % of houses in Dalneigh/Hilton for instance are still council owned??

Refreshments kiosks
I'm amazed those in the Kingsmills suite eat meat pies. I thought they would be more volivonts and cucumber sandwich kinds of people...

On one hand.......
I agree that Imrie is more likely to get past defenders on a run up the wing than Eagle. However Eagle has far more control when on the ball and is more likely to deliver a decent cross. In pre-season we saw Eagle deliver great crosses to Forans head which resulted in 2 or 3 goals. When was Imrie ever that accurate.?

"Brilliant post birdog , probably the best post I've ever read on these boards . The middle classes have killed the beautiful game without a doubt , imagine going to a game and hearing " sweary words " Britains class structure (if you believe we still have one?) has changed hugely in my lifetime, nearly everyone is middle class now.. So is it any wonder things have changed?. Thatcher wiped out the working class.. We are also talking about Inverness here, which has always been a middlle class kind of place. I would say that without middle class punters you would not have a football club... there are not enough working class fans left..

Team for Dundee
I think you are being a bit unfair on Eagle. He's new to the scottish game and is probably used to more time on the ball. I really didn't think he put in that bad a shift.
