  1. Argentina played as good a 90 minutes of football as I can ever remember. They were absolutely brilliant. Riquelme was something else, and as for that second goal......even better than Albertas I reckon. By a million miles the best team in the tournament, glad I got £20 on them at 8/1 :001: Are they scheduled to play England along the way?? Hope so, how good would it be to se Argentina gub 'em :015: :015: :015:
  2. No. I'm supporting Argentina, the best footballing team in the tournament IMO, and after watching them against a very good Ivory Coast team, I think my £10 on them to win it might come up trumps.
  3. I see todays Courier says that Fox anf Mike Fraser might be off to rejoin Robbo at Livi, while Hoolahan might be coming our way. IMO Hoolahan would be an excellent signing, he took the pish out of us earlier this season. It'd be a shame to lose Fraser though as I think if it wasn't for Brownie he'd have made the keepers position his own a long time ago.
  4. I reckon £5 million for Proctor, and £60 Billion for Blackie. Then we can up our bid for Rankin.
  5. Me too Scotty. If it was any other club offering, I think we'd be being a lot more approachable over any possible transfer moves. It's good to see Grassa telling them where to go mind :021: I can't see any players going on the cheap, it's not like we desperately need the money is it. So until Utd meet whatever figures Grassa and CC have in mind, then Blackie etc will be staying put. Personally I don't want to see any players move on, esp Blackie(who could do a whole lot better than that shower of underachieving *****). Then again, it'd be nice to see Keogh come up against him next season :001:
  6. What an arrogant ****** ET is eh.....it's like he thinks we should just hand over all our best players to him for peanuts :008: If that's how it works then maybe we should offer say errmmm...£5k for Lee Miller????(not that he's worth that much like).
  7. I've said it before, and it's been said on here, the £15 concession price is embarrassing. All kids under 16 should be let in for a minimal fee...say £5, or even a token £1, provided they are accompanied by a full paying adult. Better to have an extra £, plus the inevitable extra £'s that will be spent inside the ground, than an empty seat. Not only are we then encouraging more people along, we are also building our fanbase for the future. I also agree with Scotty about the voucher scheme. The number of people I see at the OF games, who I never see at any other games really pishes me off.
  8. Dargo would definitely be the biggest loss. Finding another 20 goal a season striker would be a huge task. It's not just his goals though, his all round play, which is exceptional, would be sorely missed. Our goalscoring options for next year worry me if we lose Dargo. Neither Wyness or Rory did anything to impress me in the last few months of the season. Black...great player, but the way Keogh played at the end of the season maybe we already have a natural replacement. As much as I like Black I do think he can be a bit of a liability at times, and he could well end up missing parts of the season through suspensions/injuries that he picks up through his style of play. Dods has been fantastic, but in McCaffrey we have an ideal replacement. Proctor...good player, but not a first team selection anyway, and seems to be very injury prone. Losing any of these players would be a big loss IMO, but, with the exception of Dargo, they are all replaceable. What worries me is if we do lose all of them, then we may well still have a decent first team, but the strength in depth would be severely lacking.
  9. I heard Brewster wants to change Utd's name to ICT2....he may as well :006:
  10. Surely someone from within the club must know the situation, so why hasn't there been any official 'Yes or No' comment'?
  11. Top 6 has to be a realistic target next season. And a decent cup run/s would be good too.
  12. That was from the 'Record' site RIG. I also noticed a similar interview in the Mail(I think) as well.
  13. Barry being interviewed in todays papers.... 'Wilson has no desire to be reunited with his former gaffer because he believes that Caley Thistle are a much better side than the Tannadice outfit. Brewster has been linked with a number of players at his former club and is said to be planning a summer raid on the Caledonian Stadium. But although veteran Wilson reckons some of his team-mates could have their bank balances boosted by a move to United, he reckons they would be mad to follow Brewster out of the Highlands. And Wilson revealed this Caley Thistle team sure know how to get as much cash as they can from their generous board of directors. The former Livingston player said: "The players know the importance of finishing seventh in the SPL table. It's no secret that we are not the highest-paid group of players but the board have been tremendous and have shared the proceeds with us. "I think the last few weeks have shown that the boys like a pound or two. Bonuses make up a large percentage of our wages at times and that shows in our play." Wilson then warned former boss Brewster that if he hopes to see any of the Inverness players sporting United colours in the top flight next season he will have to pay handsomely for their services. He said: "Everyone is under contract at Caley Thistle so if Dundee United want them they will have to come in and pay money. "This club has been great to people and hasn't stood in the way of players who wanted to move and better themselves financially. "United would probably fall into that category but I don't think there's any question that Inverness Caley Thistle are a better side than them. "I'm not trying to be controversial. It's a fact because for the past two seasons we have finished above them in the league. "This club brings the best out of their players and, no disrespect to United, that's not something that has happened at Tannadice for a number of years. "I am convinced Craig will change that eventually down there but at the moment the guys are getting their chance here. They play for a good club and they have the support of a fantastic board. "There was some talk about me leaving but Craig Brewster said to me at the start of the season that if I proved myself here he would extend my contract and he did so in January, just a few weeks before he left. "Inverness have also said they are going to give me a benefit game next season." The SPL stats do not lie but Caley Thistle can consider themselves extremely unfortunate not to have finished in the top six. Christie's men also addressed their SPL split jinx as well in emphatic style. Last season after the split Caley Thistle failed to post a single victory in their closing matches. Now Wilson wants to improve further next year and finally crack the top six. On a personal level, the player hopes to finish his coaching badges so that when he finally decides to hang up his boots he can move in to the coaching side of the game. The 34-year-old said: "It speaks volumes for the players that we bounced back from the disappointment of missing out on the top six by winning all our games and keeping five clean sheets. "We are now established in the SPL and at no stage over the past two years have we looked like being relegated. "The aim now is to break into the top six. Last year we finished eighth and this time around it was seventh so going one better seems like the natural progression. "We have a very solid foundation and if the manager gets in the players he wants we will get stronger. I have signed until the end of next season and from now on I'll just be taking things on a yearly basis - until the fat lady sings. "I feel I have a few years in me yet and as long as I keep looking after myself I can definitely cut it at this level. "I have been working on my A licence in coaching for the past three years and I'm going to finish it this summer. I have been working with the kids and the reserves at Caley for a while now and I really enjoy it so coaching is something I want to do when my playing days are over." The Highlanders have thrilled, shocked, entertained and played some silky football with a touch of determination and their style can only be admired. Three away defeats in one-and-a-half seasons speaks volumes for a proud club - but what about Inverness Caley Thistle taking their first steps on the European stage? InterToto Cup? They're not having a laugh.' Better than Dundee Utd Baz???? Couldn't agree more :021:
  14. He said that there's another avenue we've been told we can go down. It just needs clarifying......who knows :017:
  15. Not sure if anyone saw the Scotsman's team of the season yesterday? For those that didn't... TEAM OF THE SEASON CRAIG GORDON A tremendous consistency of performance from the Hearts goalkeeper saw him collect the football writers' Player of the Year award. Has kept 19 clean sheets and made a string of stunning saves, such as the one from Thomas Buffel of Rangers in March which ultimately proved so significant in the race for second place. STEVEN WHITTAKER The attack-minded right-back was sidelined for a chunk of the season by injury, but he remains one of the country's most exciting young prospects. Still has a bit to learn about defensive discipline, and may even evolve into a midfield player, but the 22-year-old provides one of the most exhilarating sights in Scottish football when on a forward charge. STEVEN PRESSLEY The Hearts captain would merit inclusion in any team of the year for his diplomatic and leadership skills off the park. Aside from coping with the chaos behind the scenes at Tynecastle, however, Pressley has shown he is definitely officer material on the pitch. His resolve and tenacity have been the bedrock of Hearts' success. RUSSELL ANDERSON After a period when his promising career stalled, the Aberdeen captain has returned this season to the kind of form which marked him out as one of the country's most accomplished central defenders. A model of consistency and will be pushing hard to become a Scotland squad regular. TAKIS FYSSAS When you recruit a European Championship winner, you are entitled to expect quality and that is exactly what the Greek left-back has provided for Hearts. A robust tackler who reads the game well, he also lends intelligent support to his midfielders and strikers. DEREK RIORDAN He may have failed to convince Walter Smith of his worth, but one thing not open to question is Riordan's pure footballing ability. Fitting the 23-year-old into the rigid systems of the modern day game remains a problem for managers, but his 20-goal contribution for the Easter Road men this season simply underlines his value. PAUL HARTLEY The renaissance man of Scottish football. From journeyman midfielder to the player who makes Hearts tick, not to mention becoming a first pick for Scotland, the 29-year-old's rate of improvement has been quite remarkable. His dynamic performances, and a tally of 18 goals, have helped drive his club to a first crack at the Champions League. NEIL LENNON When the Celtic captain was sent off for his shameful behaviour at Ibrox in August, it was easy to suspect his time was up in Scotland. On the contrary, the man who raises the hackles of opposition fans more than any other has responded with his most effective campaigns in the heart of the SPL champions' midfield, earning the 34-year-old the offer of a further year's contract. SHAUN MALONEY A peripheral figure for the first three months of the season, the Celtic forward emerged as one of the key men in the title triumph. Employed to great effect in a previously unaccustomed role wide on the left, his energy, imagination and terrific close control impressed his peers to win him both the SPFA Player and Young Player of the Year awards. KRIS BOYD All he does is score goals, say his critics. Uh-huh. Boyd's double for Rangers at Easter Road on Tuesday took his tally since moving to Ibrox in January to 18. Having netted 17 times for Kilmarnock in the first half of the season, he will finish with the distinction of being top scorer for two SPL clubs. CRAIG DARGO A series of injuries threatened to undermine a player who was long regarded as one of the most exciting striking talents in Scotland. Happily, his move to Inverness has provided the spark he required to re-ignite his career. Has scored 20 goals this season. Not too sure about Whittaker, I'd swap him for McNaughton I think and I'd also swap Riordan for Naismith So mine would be.... Gordon McNaughton Anderson Pressley Fyssas Naismith Lennon(much as I hate him he's had a great season) Hartley Maloney Boyd Dargo
  16. Every time I've seen him he's been gash
  17. I notice Charlie saying in todays HN that one of the players being released is Ben Jackson. Never got to see him play so I've no idea how good he was anyway.
  18. There were definitely more there last night than there were at the Utd game. Mind, I was amazed when they gave the Utd crowd as 3600 because the people I was with all reckoned it to be under 2500!!!
  19. Very entertaining first half, the second was more a case of going through the motions at times. Russell's goal was a beauty, and Dargo's.....well, what more needs to be said about the wee man, He just oozes class, and I could put up with losing any of the other rumoured 'targets' over the summer, but we HAVE to hang on to Dargo. Fraser was excellent in goals, he even managed a wee dribble out of the area at one point. Sutherland looks a very promising talent, and Caff showed why we need to keep him. Keogh didn't stop all night, and Morgan had the best game I've seen him play. The only disappointments for me were Dennis(again)...not sure why, but he's just not doing it at the moment. Hopefully he'll rechatge the batteries over the summer and come back the player we know he can be. And Rory.....sorry, but I've seen him on a number of occasions now, and each time I really want him to prove me wrong, but unfortunately I think he's just not good enough. Oh well, that's it for another season at home....it's been fantasric, roll on the start of next season :D
  20. Their tannoy announcer is funny for sure. Wasn't there on Saturday, but when we played them down there the other week he played 'The Diddy Men' tune when we ran out for the second half
  21. Best Game - 4-2 at Dundee Utd Worst Game -0-3 at home to Falkirk Best Goal - Dargo at Ibrox Worst Goal - Livi's extra time winner in the CIS Best Atmosphere - away at Dundee Utd Best Player - Dargo....by a million miles! Worst Ground...Celtic Park Best Ground...Tynecastle
  22. If that cheating, diving wee ***** Dargo hadn't got Caff sent off at Killie, then Dods would be the one warming the bench every week
  23. If I was Caff I would feel I'm not getting a fair crack of the whip. People mention Hastings, aye he did sit on the bench for a long time, then when Golly got injured, his standard of play merited him retaining his place. I'm not sure on this, but to mind Caff has played 3 SPL games this season (Hearts, Celtic, Hibs)??...and in each game was, arguably our MOTM. Yet every time the regular starter is fit/available again, Caff gets dropped. I'd love him to stay, he's as good as anyone else in our defence, and he's still young. Unfortunately, I can see all those plus points attracting offers for him this summer.
  24. He's the best defender in the defence as well IMO. We should be doing everything we can to hold on to quality players such as Caff, and I hope we are. Ultimately though, he'd be right to leave if someone else could guaruntee him first team football.
