  1. IHE, Hull is rather standard fare...my father was born close by--in Goole I think. Situated on the river Humber isn't it? Nice wee country pub at Blacktoft village also on the river and not THAT far away where my aunt lived before she passed away. Anyway, if this helps, at the age of 14 I was met off the train in Hull by an older woman who took me to the pictures---or maybe it was for a walk. Oh yes! It was for a walk 'cos she curdled in me a desire to do something I shouldn't oughter But I refused to surrender my principles until she persuaded me with a winsome smile...and so I boughter.

Well,l, as my Dad used to intone. "There are no bad whiskies, some are just better than others."

:lol:If you don't have the black to contrast the white how do we know what colour we are looking at? Unless they are accompanied by something designed to up-lift our spirits, of course. Er--like my hand on a glass of Chivas Regal ..eh? So negative criticisms do have their place. Mostly in the dustbin.
  4. There's many a slip twixt cup and lip, Mr Butcher. I think you may still be at Easter Road next season but, if things don't go according to plan, then your career may be well-nigh over. And also remember you had better be nice to the people on the way up because you may need them to be nice to you on your way down. And that doesn't mean betrayal .

DD --Never thought I would ever say this but..."are you on something" Just kidding. Back to my cruade. No

Chums--it's not that we blame you or abhor the expression of your opinions. It's just that it's sssooooooo depressing to always hear negativity, negativity, negativity. How does that help anyone improve the club of feel better about the moments that are less than sterling? It's like listening to a girning bairn ALL the time instead of having our lives enriched by looking at their lovely wee faces puckered up in cute little smiles ....ahHHHH! Don't you just love these cute little guys?
  7. bUT DOESN';T THE PLASTIC GIVE RAZOR BURNS ON THE PLAYERS' A..SES Anyway, sniff, it's all ,the fault of IHE with his dastardly dwelling on the dwindling resources of the club related to the cost of implementing the dire necessity of draining the Aquifer. D'OH!!!!!!
  8. Hope he showed you his cheque book, Alex. The last thing we need is another Vlad the Lad poking his nose into our club's business. Mind you, ,this Guy is from Eastern Europe whereas Vlad was from Latvia, eh? So maybe they would be ...Poles apart, like?
  9. You keep this up, Dougal, and you may become a favourite poster.
  10. I can just hear you chortley-ting then?
  11. So------never a dull moment on here then?
  12. Post #10 is a great post by Caley 100. I was thinking exactly the same things!
  13. Well, life's like that --one minute you think you are the bees' knees, know your job very well , are full of ideas about this and that including performance, and then life stops you in your tracks and dishes out a cold shower that leads to increased humility. And greater caution as to when you open your mouth. It shut up the negative naysayers though, didn't it! And I still think that John Hughes, by speaking the word "educate" truly meant "educate the players in my methods" rather than any attempt to put the players down. In his after-the-match interview he really sounded pumped and re-energised. That's good --this will bring the whole team, the Manager and the big boss upstairs (whose reaction after the game has been duly recorded on this site ) together as a very close unit. I'm looking forward to this being a good end to the season now, with lessons learned and growth recommenced. And congratulations and praise to big John for making changes and corrections because it show his flexibility and dedication to ICT.
  14. Rainbow I think you may be referring to VPN? Was too late to get on Scotty's list this term but I will follow up on your lead. Kind regards from the Canadian Western Wilderness. Guess what ad featured as soon as I came on here--- beautiful scenery of the Pacific Ocean shores and Humpback whales in the Canadian North West. Fantastic to watch but right now I am focussed on the footie. Thanks for responding, No doubt we will have Caley T V of the highlights in the not too distant future and won't that be something. My oh my, when I look back and compare what we were years ago to what we have become now, it's ...AWESOME.
  15. EDUCATE? He meant simply ...educate the players in his methods or views. Not that he is arrogant..
  16. Tch! Tch! You'll make an younger man blush....
  17. Handsome is as handsome does....... i.e His chickens are coming home to roost.
  18. My thanks to Renegade for alleviating the irritation I feel at reading the odd post of his that I hardly agree with, by demonstrating his unique sense of humour above. Rennie, old chap, you should use that weapon of yours more often since it is wry, subtle and quite insightful and for an old Pimple a good chuckle in a rather demented world. Be thankful --you are blessed; you got it man!
  19. Well, Laurence thinks I am Uncle John's daddy--or something. So that's it all sorted I guess. Grrrrr! Totally negative.. Anyway, that's my opinion , Laurence and eh'm sticking to it. Good try though, Larry the Lamb.
  20. Richie has a loose bone chip in his knee--and seemingly a bone of contention about the mistakes of other teammates. Not good.
  21. If we don't get into Europe that may be the best thing for our team this year. It would be a just reward, mind you, but at what cost? The proceeds of the League Cup final could then be made available to search for players whereas if we go into Europe it will just cost the club a lot of money, maybe even a ton of money depending on the location of the opponent(s). You just know that the chances of having full houses at Tulloch are remote....sadly. e.g How much did St Johnstone make out of their foray last time? Did they even break even?
  22. Bughtmaster is tiring. Cites O A M on view--he really means Old Age Man, then?

What the problem with the naysayers about John Hughes on here is : 1. NEVER CHANGE THEIR MIND 2. always LOOKING FOR THE NEGATIVE COMMENT 3. DON'T SEE THE PASSION AND EXPERIENCE OF THE MAN. 4. Can't appreciate that he will gain nothing against a stressed and tired bunch of good lads by getting angry, petulant, overly critical and berating them for every mistake as soon as they get back into the dressing room. Did you hear what he said about Brill--he balanced the mistake he made in the last game against the excellent save he made in the previous game. 5. They don't fully understand that it's not all just about winning games because without adversity, and the cauldron of fire to stress the steel and harden it , you don't get the growth or the resilience to realise that life is a battle-- unless you want to crawl into a corner and hibernate. So I suggest that you adopt a completely positive approach and listen to the voice of experience, John Hughes ,his fired up imagination and passion, his positive ideas, his vision and frankly his inspiring thoughts. And learn.

If anything, maybe John is a tad too gentle ..but...if he comes on the hardman at this stage when the boys are down and tired then he will deffo lose the dressing room. He HAS to think every day about what he says etc. He came in when the tide had turned whereas Butcher had the whole team on a roll which is m7uch easier to keep m going. And, Laurence, you are not an old couch potato just an old ..CHIP.. off the young block.
