  1. Alec Cleland seems to have signed for about 3 different teams according to various stories going about. Saint Johnstone was another one mentioned.

    It looks like a chestnut.
  3. Quality signing. On the other hand - no luck Kerr :002:
  4. lol
  5. The obsession continues :(

Think we had 3 drums when I used to do it. Good times. Hope it goes well for you this season.
  7. If they performed as well as they have done in the past for us then: Barry Wilson Barry Robson Dennis Wyness
  8. Just so you know I've merged your thread in with this New Signings thread which is already discussing the Odihambo deal :011:
  9. Personally I would have to say no. If they make the right signings that they actually need and the team comes together quickly although it might not need to given the talent it will have then they will be very hard to stop. In Griffiths they have bagged an excellent striker who will score a bundle of goals for them. If we are to have any chance we really need our forward line to start firing them in right form the start of the new season. I think we have a solid backline and I am happy that we have Odihambo for another year but my real concern is lack of any creativity in the middle of the park. We have no Rankin, Black, Sheerin type player for us at the minute. If we can add a couple of midfielders and another quality striker then we can give them a good battle but I think we will be pushed a lot harder this year than some folk think. I'm looking forward to the new season simply because Saturdays without football are rubbish and I am interested in seeing these "new" teams in action against us.
  10. How many goals did we concede down our left hand side in the final few games of the season? Teams certainly seemed able to exploit our left side of defence far easier than our right side.
  11. I would say I think of him as too much of a liability to be anywhere in the team.
  12. Happy that Odihambo has signed a new deal albeit only for one year. Gives us another option up front along with Rooney and Barrowman. Now we need to look at the midfield now which is lacking an creative players particularly through the middle.
  13. Go to Edinburgh.
  14. It is. Look further up this thread (about 4 or 5 posts) and you will see a link to confirm it is him.
  15. Interesting poll running on the Livi Lions site. Basically a simple yes or no poll asking fans if they want Massolini to go: http://www.livilions.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=16239 Check out post number 40
  16. Who else now plays in this Champions League of sorts?

But buying the league names is pretty much what Livi did (and Gretna albeit to a lesser extent). I mind when Livi lost 2 or 3 nil to Raith Rovers then went and signed Marvin Andrews, Steve Tosh and Alex Burns off them about a week later for less than ?100k. They signed Barry Wilson and Mark McCulloch (and later David Xausa) from ourselves. You could easily argue that players like Griffiths and Harkins are similar signings to Dundee as they also look to hoover up the best of the rest.

Point taken and I'm sure Dundee are well aware of that. However it doesn't detract from the fact that after splashing loads of cash on players it didn't take long for either of those teams to gel before eventually steam rollering their way through their respective leagues.

 I don't think anyone is saying that at all.

Gretna and Livi seemed to manage fine in the past. I don't know what the latest on Harkins is. With McCall signing a new deal at Partick I am hopeful that he can convince Harkins to stay and therefore scupper Dundees chances of getting him. Will be a boost for the rest of us!
  21. Massolini has apparently said the bill wasn't paid so as to deliberately show the fans what would happen to Livi without him
  22. No. But then I never thought for one minute we would get promoted anyway. I've said for a while now that Dundee are favourites for the league. What would be an extra worry however is that with players like Kerr and Morais etc all leaving (and with Kerr going to SFL1 rivals) it isn't going to convince people like Foran (little chance anyway) and Obidiambo (or however you spell it) to stick around as well. I know we need to live within our means but it is becoming all the more clear that we don't have the financial muscle required to push for the title this season and maybe even next.
  23. I had thought about a poll but I'm not sure there would be enough options!
  24. RiG replied to Jay_7's topic in Caley Thistle
Kerr to Dundee from us was a no brainer really, it's been on the cards for some time. I am more concerned about the Leigh Griffiths story. Dundee will romp the league this season.
