Jim Hamilton? Robbie Winters? Charlie Miller? This thread is a belter!

Matchday Thread: ICT -V- Montrose
I seemed to be in the minority when I thought that Foran went down too easily for the first penalty claim. Not sure about his second claim either to be honest. Of the three claims Montrose easily had the best one. If the referee thought he dived, as he did because he booked him, then I'm not sure why Foran wasn't booked either unless he thought it was an innocent / accidental coming together.

Dear Mr Butcher
What concerned me most about Saturdays performance was that after it people had already started saying that we need "someone like Robbie Winters". How long till someone proposes Charlie Miller be looked at as a possible signing?

Alan Shearer - Newcastle United Manager
Here's the team they put out: Krul Beye Coloccini Taylor Enrique Duff Nolan Barton Jonas Smith Martins So essentially the team that could easily have started most EPL games last season was beasted by a team in the division below them

Matchday Thread: ICT -V- Montrose
The ICT Away support is made up of the same people who were moaning at yesterdays game and don't think they can't moan just because they sing. The North Stand would have been just as critical of the display yesterday. You are only fooling yourself if you think otherwise.

Matchday Thread: ICT -V- Montrose
I am seriously puzzled by some of the stuff on this thread. I would comment on the game more but it really doesn't warrant it so I'll be keeping it relatively short. We were very poor. In fact that is the worst I have seen us play for a long time. I ended up leaving before the end so I could get my train back to Aberdeen. Also, I had simply stopped caring. Hopefully Butcher fires a rocket up the players backsides before next week. At the back we seemed okay. Montrose didn't offer up too much but there were some pathetic passing from Djebi Zadi at times one of which almost led to a goal and then Munro and Esson seemed to lose all sense of communication that nearly led to the opening Montrose goal. Nothing down the left or right to speak of. In midfield we had so little creativity it beggared belief. How we miss a player like Black or Rankin in the middle of the park to provide a wee spark of creativity or a goal threat. In the wide areas, Ross started okay but faded very badly as the game went on. Stratford and him had one or two good moments but on the whole were poor. Maybe some more games together will help but I wasn't encouraged by yesterdays showing. Cox seemed good. Really fired up and got stuck in but he seemed overwhelmed at times by Montroses midfield and he often found himself crowded out. Duncan did his usual get stuck in but then give the ball away. With Black gone we seem to have a midfield that can't pass. Worrying indeed. Up front we were toothless. Enough said. This long ball mince that was served up was garbage. We had a nice wee attack in the second half that saw about 8 - 10 wee passes played between our players on the right which ended up with us carving through the Montrose backline. We can do it but for whatever reason we choose not to pass the ball. I don't see why. The only player I thought that could come out of the game with their head held up would be Cox. As Yngwie mentions, it will be interesting if the people who think we have "the best squad in the division" have a different opinion now. We talked pre match yesterday of the last team we had in the First Division with Ritchie, Bingham, Wilson up front, a bustling, energetic midfield of Keogh, Hart and McBain with a rock solid defence marshalled by Mann and Caff with marauding Tokely and Golly as full backs. That team would have mutilated yesterdays outfit and if that is what we have out as our team most weeks in SFL1 I think we will do well to hit 5th.

Nick Ross
I didn't recognise half our team yesterday. How I will miss names on shirts. Only player who got semi decent pass marks was number 4 for us. Is that Cox?

Better than expected?
Erm, how can people say this squad is stronger than the one we had last season? We've seen these news guys in friendlies and a bit of training. Maybe in terms of numbers and cover for positions it is stronger but I think we need to wait and see if as individuals and therefore a team they are stronger. But I do agree that it is looking better than it was a month ago. Will be interesting to see how these new guys play. Can't wait for tomorrow

Stratford Signs
Dunfermline thought the same in recent seasons. Relegation probably has cost us that much actually. Have a look at the PWC report on SPL finances and you'll see our turnover before our entry to the SPL was around ?1.2 million. Whilst in the SPL, thank largely to the TV deal, it was nearer ?3 million.

Just a little thank you...
I've got all the (Home) programmes from our first SPL season. Also have a signed on from the lads for a Buchan Cup game v Peterhead about 2 seasons ago.

Just a little thank you...
So basically the club are getting rid of last years clutter by passing it on to you guys?

The article says it will happen for Annan. What players? :P

Cup game v Montrose
Can see this going horribly wrong. I assume then that all seats in the main stand are unreserved for this game?

Wonder if I'll go to this and then continue on to Aberdeen afterwards...

Brechin City game
Finished 5 - 0. Rooney got a couple as well.

Brechin City game
I got the team sent to me. Now I will say now before one of the anal posters starts going about formations and the like - this is just who is playing not where they are playing. Reidford, Tokely, Djebi Zadi, Munro, Bulvitis, McBain, Ross, Cox, Foran, Sanchez and Stratford. It's currently 2 - 0. Foran and Ross. Foran missed a penalty.

Season Ticket Renewals
Well part of it is geared towards finding out whether renewals have been affected by relegation etc. If we are talking about all fans and renewals then that is what the "I am a new ST holder" option was for (based on not being one last year).
-
Season Ticket Renewals
Just simply wondering how the recession, relegation, decrease in ticket prices, opposition quality etc. is affecting (if at all) the fans desire to renew (or not) their season tickets. Not sure of any figures forthcoming from the club but if anyone has any that would be good to know. Cheers.

Trialists...
Good to hear if that is the case. Feeling more confident about next season

Butcher mentions in the article that Eagles can play left or right. Imrie has already been used on both wings (how effective he is on one side is debateable) so there is a degree of flexibility there at least. Still would like to see another wide man and perhaps a creative central midfielder then I would be very happy with our lot. I might give Terry a text now actually about my suggestions...
