Celtic Game (18th October)
Hi. Looking ahead to the above game and I think it must be one for moving to the Sunday for Santa TV? Anyone have any news - maybe I have already missed it being moved! Thanks!

Dougie's joined the believers
What I like about the recent stories about ICT being tipped to go down is the reaction from the players. I think every single one of them wants to give the pundits a big GIRUY at the end of the season

Rumours are Setanta are wanting to move this game to the Sunday afternoon :thumb04:

Hamilton Tactics
Accies looked good tonight. Very quick off the ball when going forward and quick to close down when defending. Cery looks a very good keeper. Pulled off some stunning saves and you could tell his defence was confident in him coming to collect cross balls. Tougher game in prospect than the diddy seagull outfit we thrashed.

Couple of goals from set pieces for them tonight as they are currently beating Dundee United 2 - 1. I am confident but we certainly can't, and of course won't, underestimate them. EDIT: 3 - 1 now. Front pairing "looking" lively so hopefully the defence can hold tight.

Marius Scores on Debut...
Has the signing on fee ever been sorted out?

Photos?
Peter was there. He was taking photos of us when the 2nd went in. Probably has a fair collection to upload. I can't wait to see them

We're still top!
He did indeed :015: Damn disgraceful decision from the official. And some hilarious reporting from Keith Jackson in the Daily Record today: What a clown

BBC Highlights
No wonder your match reports are rubbish I loved it - Duncans sliding on his knees was good :thumb04: It was a huge match for both the players who had been written off by pundits an d the chance to get a win against an Aberdeen side, who I have always said, are not that good. Delighted they did it and you could see how much it meant to them. No. I was shaking until we got the 2nd. Such a great feeling when it hit the net. It took a second or two to register but when it did we went ballistic. I can't mind what I was doing but I lost my voice and my knees were sore by the end of it :018:

We don't need Marius! We don't need Marius!

I thought he was fine and he was very quick off his line to come and collect the ball. Kicking good, looked fine under pressure. Who was commentating for the game on the radio?

*Aberdeen Pummel ICT Apparently* Rubbish from the BBC. Where are our efforts in the first half? The chance for Imrie? The chance that McBain had chopped off? Munros outstanding tackle to save a certain goal? And from an Aberdeen point of view - Mackies glorious chance that he scooped wide? Dross. However, it is very much worth watching to hear the Aberdeen fans around two minutes into the video. "BOOOOOOOOOOO!"

I believed . . .
Yeah. We may as well be realistic after all.

Return of the Counter Attack?
Agree with this Chris. Our midfield was fine tuned for its purpose yesterday but it didn't stop Black thundering forward at times. Imrie and Cowie seemed to take it in turns to support Barrowman who held the ball up well. Duncan did the dirty work while Black sprayed the ball about well to the likes of Imrie and Cowie to led the break. I just didn't notice McBain until the 2nd half really when he seemed to come more and more into the game. Our 2nd goal is the best example of a counter attacking goal. It will be used to illustrate how to play the counter attacking game to perfection

Likewise, when the players give us something to shout about we make (more) noise.

I believed . . .
I didn't believe we would get the win yesterday but apparently Aberdeen have never secured any points under Calderwood on the first game of the season. Had I known that.... ....I probably still wouldn't have felt we could get anything from the game. But I am happy to eat humble pie on that one

Good point about Imrie Mannie - at half time he applauded the fans for their backing of the team and at the end he was one of the first players to get across to the South Stand to thank the supporters for their support.

Captaincy
Completely agree. Some last ditch challenges that saved the day for us. He seemed much more vocal as you say and really looked like he could handle the pressure of being both Captain and a rock at the back for us

I thought McBain was quiet in the 1st half but came into the game much more in the 2nd half. I wouldn't say MOTM for me (that remains tightly fought between Munro, Black and Imrie for me) but he did have a good game. Maybe I should have rated this out of 10 instead of 5? Surprised about your thoughts about Cowie Richard but it's all down to opinion and that's fair enough. I thought he had a good game and supported Barrowman well throughout most of the game. He was direct in his play and helped to pack the midfield when we were under the cosh. The rating I gave for McGuire I thought might cause some debate but at the end of the day Miller, Mackie and MacGuire did hoop all for Aberdeen and that isn't just down to Munro and Co. at the back. McGuire had a role to play and while he wasn't perfect I thought he did the majority of what he had to do well. Hopefully he can go on from here.

Aberdeen vs ICT
Billy Dodds is a cock. Apparently through the week he said, after Rangers defeat to Hearts Reserves, that certain players aren't good enough to play for Rangers and that "everyone know who they were". When asked who he meant he said "I'm not naming names" - what a trumpet

Player of the Year Poll
5 - Black 3 - Imrie 1 - Cowie And that was hard! I have added these votes by the way but just posting them to confirm them

Fraser - 3 - Did what he had to. Never really under much pressure. Assured when coming to collect the ball and good distance on his kicking to relieve us of pressure. Tokely - 3 - Anyone know who Aberdeen had playing down the left hand side? Never saw much of them! Coped well with whatever was thrown at him and got forward well. Sent in a wonderful ball to set Barrowman up for the opener. McGuire - 3 - Never really did anything wrong but lost a few aerial battles as Aberdeen turned the screw a bit in the 2nd half. Partnership with Munro will be under scrutiny. Munro - 4 - Fantastic performance. Showed good leadership at the back and throw himself in at the deep end to help preserve our lead when he blocked a cross attempt by Miller/Mackie to Miller/Mackie (delete as appropriate) which would have led to a certain goal. Excellent showing from the Captain. Hastings - 3 - Again, solid and did what he had to do. Was often too keen to lump the ball back up the pitch and thus turnover possession but Smith didn't give him much bother unless he cut inside and attacked from the centre. Cowie - 4 - Non stop running and linked well with the midfield and Barrowman. Looked keen to get on the ball and run at the defence. Played some intelligent passes that nearly resulted in goals for us and showed yet again why he will likely be playing at a higher level next season. Black - 4 - Our best passing midfielder. Hosed on Mark Kerr in midfield and took out about 3 Dons players with a nifty little turn. Sprayed the ball about intelligently and always offered himself for a pass and supported the attack a lot than I have seen him too. Duncan - 3 - Some good runs and simple passing and really broke down a lot of Aberdeen attacks but still misplaced some key balls that lost us the chance to get a goal. However, on the whole, a solid performance on one that is typical of your "dirty" deep lying midfield player. McBain - 3 - Never saw he was playing until 10 minutes in but he gave us some extra width on the left when we broke and Imrie was elsewhere on the pitch. Still needs to try and use his right foot more often but he was dependable and di what he had to do well. Stunning finish when put clear at the end. Imrie - 4 - I thought we paid too much for the lad but he is fairly justifying his fee. A wee bit of pace about him, strong when needing to win the ball back or holding off players and can put in a good ball. Another good showing from him but if he can keep a cooler head then he would have had a goal today to show for his efforts. Shame he couldn't keep the effort down. Barrowman - 3 - Predators finish for the opener which is why we have bought him. He is looking like the penalty box goalscorer we didn't have last season. Got into some good positions in the area but the ball never found him. Was sometimes caught dwelling on the ball but when he adjusts to the pace of the SPL he will be even more dangerous. Subs: Wilson (for Black) - 2 - A thundering challenge on Diamond (?) was the highlight of his brief appearance. McAlliser (for Barrowman) - Never knew he came on. Was too busy celebrating.
