  1. Butcher and managers before Hughes seemed to get on okay with signing players for less money than Yogi had to play with. Why did he sign so many stinkers? He was a great manager for us and took us to places we'll realistically never see again but it was time for him to go. The public fall out between manager and chairman was only going to end one way. Foran was an unmitigated disaster. On every conceivable level. We'll rue the day he wasn't punted after that Accies match you mention. Who knows where we would be if he had been binned and we got someone else in. All ifs buts and maybes now sadly.
  2. Travelled to the first game, called off 30 (?) minutes before kick off. Trudged back up north. Couldn't make the reply as I had a chemistry test that afternoon and the teacher wouldn't let me take it at another time. Also missed Bucharest as well so I've probably missed two of the biggest nights in ICT history. Wouldn't trade it for Stirling Albion away in the League Cup though...
  3. The stewards in front of the YT were always quite lenient with them but unfortunately events at Brechin last season and Polworth this season have seen a number of the YT absent for varying reasons. I am not condoning their antics but they are a miss in terms of what they brought to the support in terms of atmosphere as are the other supporters who are clearly drifting away. The North Stand is slowly but surely thinning out. It's not much of a surprise that it is akin to a morgue most Saturday's now. The last time there was a decent crowd in there was the last home derby game.

I can't remember exactly what the phrase was Gregor used I'm afraid That was just the first thing that came into my head.

Two starts, two goals. A 100% strike rate. And at a higher level as well.
  6. Indeed. Many a successful football empire has been built on hosting gigs during the summer months.
  7. Outstanding bait.
  8. I see Vigurs had a good night out in Inverness last night.

The fact that players see moving to Accies from us as a step up is hardly a laughing matter and is a sad indictment of where we are these days.

Works out at something like an extra £8,000 per club in the Championship IIRC. That will cover OFWs wage for a few weeks.

That wasn't even close to happening.

    Not happy with that TBH.

I don't have a problem with Friday games either really just prefer it if they are played at a more normal time and the fans know well in advance so they can make arrangements to get to games.

Pawlett is a decent signing. Butcher is rubbish. Didn't we sign Barry Wilson from Livi just before a transfer window closed?

So has our away game against Partick the following week also with a 1905 kick off. What's the obsession with this bizarre kick off time?
  16. Bad error from McCart but he's been pretty solid for us this season regardless of where he was been asked to play in defence. Would like to see him and Donaldson feature as our regular CB pairing.
  17. He apparently came on for the last 25 minutes of their game at the weekend so I think that he'll make an appearance pretty soon...
  18. Looks like another 442 setup from us. McDonald came on on the right side against Falkirk but floated inwards a fair bit towards the end. I wonder if he is on the right again and maybe Chalmers on the left with Welsh and Polworth in the middle? Either way we're basically playing with four central midfielders across the middle.

  20. Weather forecast looks ropy. Wouldn't be the worst thing in the world if it was off given we are likely to be missing Ridgers, Donaldson, Walsh and Doran.
  21. Yeah some good chances passed up yesterday sadly. Would be good if someone had the info to work out conversion rates for our players when it comes to taking the chances presented to them.
  22. I didn't claim there were 17 clear cut chances to score. I said that we had 17 shots yesterday and of those 9 were on target and we scored 2 (source: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/46929128 which can be taken with a pinch of salt but it's the best we have to go on). I don't disagree with your point about preventing goals but it's not the big issue for us this season. It's our inability to convert the, at times, plethora of chances that come our way that is seeing us drop points.
  23. For all of Falkirk's possession in the second half most of their chances were crosses fizzed into the box with no one around to make anything of them. I felt we handled them pretty well for most of the game. One thing we did struggle with in the first half was the long balls over the top and passes down the flanks which brutally exposed our lack of pace in defence but we sat a bit deeper in the second half and this seemed to work. Rudden was excellent moving off the ball and the equaliser was a well taken effort but poorly defended from us. Same with the opener. I expected a shot so I was surprised to see Chalmers drive it low towards Rooney for the opener. Lovely strike from Doran to put us ahead at the break. I think he was our best player yesterday and it was a shame to see him go off injured (again) especially when it looked like he might (!) be through on goal with a decent chance to get a third goal for us. The goal from the corner was awful to see from an ICT PoV as Cammy Mackay was only there because Ridgers missed out with injury. Can't help but feel that if Ridgers was in goal he would dealt with that a lot better and generally wouldn't have shown the same levels of nervousness that Mackay did throughout the game. He flapped at a couple of crosses as well and just generally did not look comfortable at all. Oakley and McDonald had good chances for us with Oakley heading straight at the keeper and McDonald flashing a low drive past the post. We also had a decent looking shout for a penalty turned down. Fair play to the Falkirk TV commentators claiming it was a great block Obviously Falkirk had the wonderful chance at the end with Rudden blazing over under no pressure at all so whilst I think we deserved the won overall we were lucky not to lose it at the death. McDonald looks a useful player. Could be decent playing behind the striker if / when Polworth goes in this transfer window. MacCauley looked okay. Some size of lad for a wide man. McCart again looked decent and Chalmers and Welsh continue to do well in the middle. Definitely not the greatest collection of players we've ever had but Robbo has done well to assemble a decent enough squad with the financial limitations at the club.
