  1. Considering that this is the first time in 15 years that the club's fans have called for this type of action in significant numbers, I respectfully disagree with you. What we need now is for every fan to get back behind the club, and each other, and support whoever the new manager is so that we avoid relegation ..... Incidentally - Grassa has the best record of all our caretaker managers and I would be happy for him to add to his unbeaten record in the next game or two (P2 W0 D2 L0) ..... if we have to.
  2. OK folks, we realise that tempers and frustrations are running high after the last few weeks, another disappointing result yesterday, ill-timed comments from the manager in the press etc etc etc. However. Regardless of these frustrations, it does not mean that our pre-existing site rules go out the window and this public posting is the only further reminder we will give on this matter before taking action against those who continue to breach the terms and rules of this site. Please note these three points in particular The personal/private lives of players/officials are their own business and not up for discussion on this board unless or until those things are firmly in the public domain. When they are public, then and only then will we allow discussion of those parts that are generally regarded as factual/proven. This rule has been in place for 15 years and we are not about to remove it or change it. If you can't deal with that, go to some other site. Although Mr Brewster opened the door somewhat by mentioning the rumours we have all probably heard about his sexuality. I will re-iterate the point made on the matchday thread yesterday. http://community.caleythistleonline.com/in...showtopic=10693 I would point out that this includes sly, oblique and smart-ass indirect references to the above as well. Since yesterday, I have had to delete a few posts that I would term homophobic or which made abusive remarks of that nature towards Craig Brewster either directly or as thinly veiled references. Many of these were reported to us by our users. This posting serves as notice that as from now, bans will be issued for those types of comments. no discussion, no leniency, out and out bans. - Abuse of club officials, directors, shareholders, or their families will also not be tolerated. Graeme Bennett and David Sutherland (Tulloch) have come in for a lot of criticism in recent weeks and whilst we will not censor reasoned debate or opinion about their roles in the current mess, or indeed legitimate criticism, we will remove postings we feel are getting too personal and abusive towards them (or anyone else for that matter) or are just one-liners slagging them off without context. The majority of debate over this is fine, but as with point 1 above - if it starts getting too personal then we do draw the line at that and will take appropriate action. - Abuse of other posters is also not wanted on here. By all means have a discusson, have a rip roaring debate or agree to disagree, but lets keep the abuse directed at each other to a minimum please. Site Admin
  3. sure he didnt mean Giant Haystacks or Big Daddy ?
  4. PLEASE NOTE: Although the user 2 posts above seems to be pretending to be Charlie Christie, I can confirm that the account is not registered to any IP or email address at the stadium and has therefore been suspended until the user informs us of what the account can be changed to. I would just like to remind people that registering with a username that makes it appear that you may be another poster or a club employee, official or player is not acceptable and accounts that fall into that category will be suspended or summarily deleted.

I am sure this thread will see several clever uses of the word "Marooned" over the next few days !!!

Well, it would appear we reached Mr Brewster's 20 in less than 58 minutes and raised him another 69 by the time I posted this ..... am sure the total will climb higher when the 5 official buses and several unofficial buses get back up the road.
  7. link to the interview - what there was of it - on the main site match report page.

As easy or tempting as it can be to veer away from topic on this thread, as stated earlier can we try to stay vaguely on topic - Thanks. If you want to have this discussion in more depth about the subject of flags in general? or Palestine/Israel etc - start a new topic in the serious debate area. This topic is about a specific incident/scenario at the TCS.
  9. ONE thread has been locked today - hardly a sign of anyone who "keeps locking threads". It was a duplicate of another thread already running and a link was left inside it so get off your high horse
  10. interview will probably be on the roundup news after the Jim Trayn-gers show

post in this thread I think - since the poll is already setup !!! http://community.caleythistleonline.com/in...showtopic=10696
  12. Easy answer to that - we agree to change some combination of our avatar, signature and/or displayed username to show who we are !!!! Your profile page also has the option to allow you to post a profile picture which is separate from your avatar - see my profile as an example.

Mr Smith is on holiday I believe so dont think it can be laid at his door .... someone other than Mike normally acts as safety officer now although he does take charge if the other person is unavailable.
  15. Yeah, that was kind of my point in posting this .... it seems so much like deja-vu X10

Yes, I saw that article and picked up on the "20 fans" comment. If he believes its only 20 fans at the meeting who doubt his ability then - to use a Bush-ism - I think he "mis-underestimates" the strength of feeling. Because we routinely delete unused accounts (monthly), we can honestly say that we have around 1550 "active" members on this site (as opposed to registered members) and of those accounts, considerably more than 50% of them login at least once a week, with somewhere between 1/3 and 1/2 of our account holders logging in either daily or every couple of days. The strength of feeling is certainly coming from more than 20 people whether it is at a meeting or not. I also picked up on another part of the article and I dont know if it was a veiled reference to this site or not. The comment said "He has been caught up in a deeply unpleasant, intrusive and internet-driven debate on his sexual orientation". Not sure if they mean us or not, but personally I take heart from the fact that any so-called "internet driven debate" on this has not involved this site. We allow criticism of the manager, we encourage opinion from whatever end of the scale and although the odd comment has/had been made on this subject we have - and will continue to - remove postings about this as it crosses our own line into the personal lives of players/officials. (just in case anyone needed clarification now that it has been mentioned in the papers).
  17. According to the P&J, http://www.pressandjournal.co.uk/Article.aspx/1031212 Iain Vigurs will "take his time before deciding whether or not to commit to the Inverness club" ...... The article goes on to say attribute the following comment to the player: "I am still thinking about the club?s contract offer. It is still early and I am just concentrating on my football at the moment. It is a good sign for me that the club has come to me with a contract offer. It is great that the manager wants me for the next couple of seasons and I am in his plans. I have always said I want to stay here" looks to me like we have given him an average offer at best and the standard two year contract which will lead to us losing him a year from now on a pre-contract if he progresses as well as most of us think he has the potential to do. Will we ever learn ?

  19. yup - not sure how anything in that article indicates its Mikey over Esson ?
  20. Scotty replied to RiG's topic in Caley Thistle
He will end up being one of those players we talk about in the chatroom during ICT matches ....... "Oh I see <insert name of player here> has scored for <insert name of lower league club here> today"

precisely why I suggested the police deal with flags/banners as they have to justify themselves further up the line through superiors, procurator fiscal and eventually the courts if it goes that far.

I am sure this will be a very interesting debate. I am equally sure that decisions on flags are a hard one to call consistently for the club too and this looks like another can of worms. I am kind of in two minds about this one. The guy has the right to express his opinion as he sees fit, and obviously had the opportunity to do so at the demonstration earlier in the day. You would also have to say the same thing about anyone who is supportive of the Israeli side of this situation and carries an Israeli flag around with them. However, I dont really see how either flag has anything to do with an ICT -V- Partick Thistle match and on that basis I would probably have said the same thing to the guy. The comparison with the OF is like comparing Apples and Oranges (so to speak) .... those sides have traditionally been associated with the two sets of flags their supporters display and regardless of our distaste for the sectarian element of each club's support, that is how it is and either flag is valid. Equally, so is a "Brewster Out" banner or any flag that broadly represents the strip colours of either team. Neither Partick Thistle or Caley Thistle are associated in any way shape or form with either Israel or Palestine so the display of either flag to make a political point at a sporting event is bogus. I can sympathise with the guys point of view, but as they say "there's a time and a place". If I can throw another one into the mix ..... the confederate flag / Southern Cross .... I have seen this displayed at ICT games in the past and although I have no problem with it or the person who brought it as I know it was brought because it is primarily red and blue and has its roots in the saltire, there are many who could find that one offensive too. It may not be as sensitive an issue in Scotland, but the display of that flag in North America has variously become associated with slavery, white supremacy, Ku Klux Klan etc whereas others see it as merely a display of "Southern Culture". Its all about context ...... At the end of the day, I would prefer it if the club did not get involved in deciding what is or is not offensive about ANY flag or banner unless it contains very specific and easily identifiable elements (eg. "Big Jock Knew"). Instead, let the police make the decision as to the offensiveness of flags/banners and take appropriate action based on that. They have a wider range of options, from merely telling someone to put it away right up to arresting the person and allowing them to have their day in court ......

Its a hard one. I can understand why Mike doesn't want to be #2 to anyone as he spent so long waiting for his chance when Mark Brown was between the sticks. He gets that chance and although he has done reasonably well with a shaky defence in front of him, he is looking at a situation where he must think "here we go again" as Esson grabs the #1 jersey. Judging by reports or the highlights, both keepers are of similar quality, Mike does some things better than Ryan and vice versa.
  25. Dalneigh Caley: The original 'crew' of ICT supporters that started in the Caley Inn were myself, Big Stu, his brother Ross and Calum ... we were soon joined by the likes of the Gringos and a few other out-of-towners including Jill, Seoras, Govan Jaggie and others, and over time this band of "Internutters" grew and developed on here and in the Caley Inn and then when that bar went downhill, we moved to the Innes Bar and it continued to develop from there. As far as I am concerned, posting in this forum is absolutely relevant as they met through their passion for ICT, continue to support the club as long term season ticket holders, and are friends of many of the people on here. If thats not good enough reason, then as I said above, I will claim site founder privileges for posting my congratulations to a pair of good friends.
