  1. I was one of those who was not pleased with Dods when the season started and felt he should be dropped over the Brewster/DUFC link and the talk of him going / wanting to go .... HOWEVER: I can happily eat humble pie on this one and admit that after a rocky few games to start the season he is still giving 100% for the cause so whatever he decides (stay at ICT (hopefully), move to another club nearer home, move to Championship) come the window or the end of the season I will wish him well and thank him for his contribution to ICT.

Alex - you have a good point but does the "field of play" start at the wall or the white lines ? You could argue that it starts at the white lines as otherwise the subs would not be allowed to warm up between the lines and the perimeter wall. If the person crossed into the actual playing field (or gave some form of physical or verbal abuse after being apprehended) then an arrest was possibly warranted but if they were merely overjoyed, got carried away, and ran onto the grass and not the field then your comment (from police officers) that "normally the perpretrator is given a talking to and ejected" might have been the more appropriate course of action ? Was it wrong ? YES : Was it irresponsible ? YES: Was it a criminal act ? Maybe 'technically' but the law of common sense should be more powerful ... (where's the 'clip round the ear' when you need it !!!) If we set aside this incident for a minute and agree that neither of us have both sides of the story which is required to form a balanced opinion, or a law degree to argue the legalities of it, my main concern isnt over the police doing their job or upholding the law - I wholeheartedly support them in that - my concern is with the possibility that more and more people will be arrested by police or worse still reported by Stewards who are unqualified in matters of law, only for these charges/reports to be dropped later. The upshot will be that these kinds of arrests/reports could routinely become used to obtain FBOs BEFORE any court case (or the dropping of charges) and that is not what they were designed for .... the word VICTIMISATION is going to be used a LOT if this starts to happen, especially if there are different standards in different games or for different sets of fans. I am glad to see that Maimie has 'got her teeth' into the subject of FBOs as I believe it is something that Supporters Trusts NATIONALLY should definitely be looking at long and hard, and working with both the clubs and their fans to make sure their is a level playing field for all and that these new powers are used appropriately rather than abused or applied piecemeal.
  5. Well, if she was cooking the pies, you would have to make sure you got in before your live commentary colleagues from Radio Scotland .... EVERY week we suffer the sound of chomping jaws for most of the second half with the odd comment between mastications :015: :015:
  6. Say or think what you like about Bobby off the park - and I know many have issues with him for things he has been alleged to have said or done - but on the park he was one of the best defenders we have ever had. I concede that we will never know whether he could have done it in an ICT shirt in the SPL week in and week out but he made vital tackles, marshalled the players and was one of very few players we have had who could turn defence into attack with an accurate 60 yard pass right to one of our players feet.
  7. Thought you were "on" the programme according to your other thread on this subject !!! threads merged - please dont start more than one about the same thing, especially when its not football related
  8. Cant really fault the guy - he wants to play and is not getting a game which is frustrating for footballers at any level. I hope he stays, and fights his way into the team as I think he is one of our unsung players, but would understand his reasoning if he chose to go
  9. Nothing wrong in Caley Thistle having affiliations with clubs anywhere ... If it means we get a 'heads-up' about players who are promising but not likely to break into Premiership sides then where's the harm .... are we unhappy to have got Morgan and Black from Blackburn ????? Look at the Arsenal boy Stokes who is currently doing not too badly this season ..... I wouldnt want to fill the team with "on loan" players but the odd one wouldnt be a huge problem, nor would getting first refusal on released youngsters to bring on ........
  10. I always regarded Forres as the posh part of Elgin :015: :015:
  11. nope - Zapp is a new poster to our site and comes complete with an Australian email address and IP address as suggested in his first post. If Mr Bannerman did have an alter ego on here, I am sure he would not make it an obvious one ...
  12. So ..... how did it go ? what did you think ?
  13. With Ivanauskas taking a two week break due to 'illness', worrying comments coming from the grocer, Rangers bad (domestic) results, and other problems in the hot seats throughout the SPL ... who do you think will be the first SPL manager to get the bullet ? (Mowbray doesnt count : resigned :004:)
  14. we are forgetting the obvious .... Craig BUROOster (as in 'on the buroo')

  16. no worries - although to be fair, I 'made' the image from two others that dont belong to me :010:
  17. Sandy - please dont make scurrilous accusations. There are only two admins on this site (and several message board moderators)and I do not think either of us have said anything derogatory about him on this site. The same cannot be said of recent postings that you have directed towards the site admins. I have spoken to Mike in person a number of times, and we continue to keep in touch even now that the site is unofficial as we have provided (and continue to provide - in respect of Club Shop and Email) the club with temporary resources while their new site emerges from the planning and development stages and into its infancy. I would agree that he is a 'decent hand' as you put it, and always seems quite willing to stop and chat with fans and on both occasions when I have visited Inverness since he took on his position, he has made the time to sit down with me for a good long chat. I have had disagreements (as opposed to arguments) with our chief exec on a couple of issues while the site was official, but these shall remain private between us. It is true that other fans have commented on their opinions of his effectiveness in his role and I can only assume you are implying that by not deleting these posts we are agreeing with those opinions. If that is your assumption, then you are incorrect.

Some of us did !! Allowed to be applied unchecked, they are in danger of being used to suck all the enjoyment out of football (or the portions that are left anyway) by giving underqualified and over-officious matchday staff (stewards/police) the power to ruin your weekend hobby/passion for merely getting a little excited about your team's performance. There is a place for these 'orders' in controlling truly bad behaviour (both physical and verbal), but I fear more 'minor infractions' will come under the umbrella of the FBO leading to more 'arrests', most of which will eventually be dropped by the PF but not before the 'offendor' has been slapped with one of these orders. Give it a year or two and you wont even be allowed to rustle sweetie papers !!! Agree with you there. In actual fact, dont know if it has happened yet or not, but I believe at the away end, the height of the wall is to be increased to make it more difficult for supporters to invade the pitch. This comes after several away end encroachments onto the park. Common sense is what is required. They broke the rules and should maybe get a severe talking to about their over exuberance, made aware that it can hurt the club financially if the SPL choose to fine us, and then either kicked out or returned to a 'responsible' adult but the details that have been posted so far seem to suggest that the treatment was over the top. Totally agree. two wrongs dont make a right.
  20. “It’s tough at the moment and it will be tough in the first division because that’s where we are heading if we carry on playing like that” .... a rare moment of truth from the Big Man “Maybe people will question my ability. I had the ability when I was at Inverness where the boys there responded to me brilliantly but at Dundee United it’s not happening." .... maybe it was the team that had the ability Craigy boy ... not you ??? “But it doesn’t matter how good you are, you can only work with the tools you’ve got.’’ .... Its official, Dundee United players are 'tools' .... or maybe you are the tool for taking the job in the first place Craig ??? (I know someone else had this, but him calling his players 'tools' made me laugh out loud.
  21. Didnt realise how bad he was when compared to McCall & Chisholm "However it is portrayed, the fact is that after winning just three of 29 games in all competitions (McCall won 28 of 92 and Chisholm 10 of 36) and confessing, in the wake of a sorry performance at Pittodrie, that he isn’t sure if he can keep United up, Brewster looks to be on his way." But these three quotes have to go in the Brewster quote thread ....
  22. I would say that one of our biggest strengths is the settled squad and the team spirit that this breeds. For all his faults, Pele put together a good squad at ICT, and Robbo, Brew and now Charlie have only had to make minor adjustments to it. The players have come up through the ranks together, been written off as no-hopers together, and also succeeded together. The job isnt 'easy', but perhaps ICT managers can concentrate better as they dont need to check the car park every 15 minutes to see if the Chairman has removed the sign beside their parking spot and replaced it with another name, or check whether the handyman is oiling the hinges on the revolving door ! CC may have a lot to learn - and I am sure he would freely admit that - but in the last few weeks, we have seen that he can obviously read the game and make telling substitutions that affect the outcome - something that none of our managers have really done that well before.

I would suggest emailing the chief exec (mike.smith@ictfc.co.uk) but to be honest, if it was the police who arrested and charged the lad, then there is little he will be able to do and maybe even less he will be able to say.
  24. I have a wee soft spot for QOS that was born when we played them in the lower leagues and met and got great craic with their fans on numerous occasions. They always gave us a decent game and I thoroughly enjoyed my visits to Palmerston despite the distance. To be honest, I hope that both the wee nyaff and Brew get their jotters next week although I think the baseball cap wearing, paint can kicking ned might last a little longer than Brew.
