  1. same team but keep Rankin in the middle where he seemed to perform better when paired with Hart. I am assuming that Black may be suspended as he has reached 5 bookings but even if not, I think he needs a little time to cool-off. BROWN TOKELY DODS MUNRO HASTINGS WILSON HART RANKIN MCBAIN BAYNE DARGO SUBS Fraser McCaffrey Morgan Duncan Wyness McAllister Sutherland Things not going our way during the game ? switch to 3-5-2 by bringing Caff on (in place of McBain in my list here but realistically could be any of the midfield). Make other substitutions depending on performance. BROWN MUNRO DODS MCCAFFREY TOKELY HASTINGS WILSON HART RANKIN BAYNE DARGO
  2. I was happy to hear Clarke acknowledge Tiger Woods for the behind the scenes support he gave him prior to the competition. Tiger knows only too well how hard it is to lose a loved one and then try to play sport in the public eye a short time later. Well done to Darren and equally well done to Tiger !! You are both gentlemen. I would also like to see a few people - Bernard Gallagher and Thomas Bjorn in particular - eat their words over Woosnam's wildcard selection. It could have backfired spectacularly but history will show his picks of Darren Clarke (3 out of 3 points in the games he played) and Lee Westwood (4 out of 5 pts) were inspirational ... the crowd reception for Clarke undoubtedly played a part in motivating the European team and Westwood played all 5 rounds without losing (3 wins, 2 halves) so a few slices of humble pie are required .....
  3. Radio commentators made the point that the team performed a lot better when Hart came on. I will defer to those who were actually at the game, but it sounded like he did enough to get on from the start this weekend.
  4. Official Stats supplied by Ian Broadfoot have the following caveat for Charlie's managerial career. "Excludes two periods as joint interim manager with John Docherty - 13 to 23 November 2004 & 14 to 21 January 2006 - 5 matches" those would be Sat 13th November 2004 - 3-0 defeat at Celtic Tue 23rd November 2004 - 1-1 draw at TCS V Dundee United Sat 14th January 2006 - 3-0 win at TCS V Livingston Mon 16th January 2006 - 2-0 win at Ayr in the cup Sat 21st January 2006 - 4-1 win at Falkirk
  5. full stats attached [edited and re-uploaded as i forgot to include Saturday's result]
  6. Think the 'performance' of Alan Freeland might overshadow him this week ... when EVERY pundit agrees that he had a 'howler' then it must have been bad ......
  7. There has been talk of a court case in December so I assume he WAS charged with breach of the peace
  8. Starting lineups - see attached files
  9. Midge is neither of these people. The user consistently posts from the same IP address and neither IHE or anyone else has ever posted from it.
  10. yeah ... was thinking along the same lines myself yesterday ... even did a google search to see if I could find a sport beginning with S that had SIX, SEVEN, SIXTEEN or SIXTY players/people on a team
  11. dont like the phrase 'vote of confidence' as we know what usually comes next ..... but I guess if it is coming from fans its not as sinister as coming from the chairman :004: If you were to say or write something then personally I think you should avoid the 'confidence' phrase and go with something like "...despite calls from one or two for CC's head, the vast majority of online fans displayed their continued and unwavering support for CC as manager" (sure you can word it better though CB)
  12. The first aim in ANY season is survival in the SPL, anything else is an added (but thoroughly enjoyable) bonus. The difference in cash between the SPL and Division 1 is PHENOMENAL. Put it into perspective. No matter who the manager is, we are a small team, in a small city, with a small support and a small wage budget. We ARE growing each year and if we can stay in the SPL for a further 4 or 5 years we might be able to build on what we have so we can change our wage structure, attract more supporters etc. A candle that burns twice as brightly only burns half as long ... ask Livi !!! As for Charlie not attracting players to the TCS, I think that is complete BS. Sure, he might not have the same contacts as Robbo or Brewster and it may be slightly harder for him. However, in this day and age AGENTS are the people who tout players to clubs just as much as managers look to their old stomping grounds. Look at both Robbo or Brew who both came back to ICT for players after they moved elsewhere. Do players go to Gretna because of Rowan Alexander's magnetic personality ? no, didnt think so. Did players sign for McCall at DUFC because he was a fine upstanding gentleman ? Did half the squad hate Brewster because he was such a nice man ? Players sign for a club either because they have an affinity/loyalty towards it or because of the money on offer ... At ICT's level/size, signing for a club because of who the manager happens to be is a very rare happening. Presence is one word for it :017:
  13. will merge the threads - keep it all in one place
  14. Midge ... I make that 17-1 in favour of CC staying and 3 requests for your head :017:
  15. ok - mystery solved : Banning Order ? as seen on the 'we are not immune' thread that Gringo started
  16. sorry reffinweed - it wasnt your comment that confused me, it was Maimie's ...... thread title "first banning order for ICT??" and first post says "i hope not" .... to me that suggests that something has been in the paper or on the web somewhere to suggest an ICT fan might get one of these ?
  17. sorry - it feels like this is the middle of a conversation ? Has someone fallen foul already ? Is the information on another link or another site ?
  18. NO (ridiculous question IMHO)

    Gretna

GRETNA: I dont really care about them one way or the other. Their success is all tied in with the money that BM has ploughed in and thats fine. As RiG has said, we have benefitted from Tulloch but this was more to bail us out of a tight spot and keep us on an even keel rather than offering silly money to attract players. I dont even think 'the Grocer' would have offered silly money if his side were trying to climb leagues instead of stay in the top one - but its BM's money and he can do whatever he likes with it. Brooks Mileson: I have to admit that I quite like him. He always comes across in any interview that I have heard as being 'a punter' and a football fan ... albeit it a stonkingly rich one. He even supplied the 'Charlie's Angels' T-Shirts for LG and the crew after CB left - no strings, just a 'fair enough, here you go' deal ... kudos to LG and the others for raising some money for his favourite charity in return. Rowan Alexander: Met him in the Palmerston Bar at the QOS ground (also met the female friend that helped end his QOS managerial career and his marriage) when he was manager at QOS. At that time he seemed like a tit and my opinion hasnt changed. If he thinks players are coming to Gretna for any other reason than money then he is quite clearly disillusioned. He is however finding out that the higher up he gets in the league, the more difficult it becomes as some of the other teams already have players just as good as those he has overpaid for .... not only that, but the arrogance of both the players and management seem to be showing through - I wish him nothing like success :004:
  20. The difference between our scoring (or lack of it) this season compared to last season so far are the goals of Craig Brewster .... Dargo didnt start scoring until October and then couldnt stop whilst Brew hit something like 6 in 7 games at the start of the season .... if our current strikers cant score and McSwegan is fit then maybe he is worth a shot - see if one oldster can emulate our last one !!!
  21. Just received this email from the Ticket Office. Rangers V ICT (14/10/06) Tickets for the above game are now on sale. This is an all ticket game. 22. ... were you at the game caller ? :004: lets also put this result in perspective. we lost 1-0 to a fellow SPL side, who, over the last few years have proved to be a club performing at about the same level as us whether that was in the SPL or while we were both in Div 1. The same can be said for St Mirren ... its not like we got humped by a 2nd or 3rd division side (no disrespect intended). We do not have a divine right to win games and it will be interesting to see comments from those who were actually at the match. Were we shoite ? Were Falkirk better ? or was losing by that single goal just one of them nights ? The stats show we had way more shots than Falkirk - but they also suggest we couldnt hit a coo's erse with a banjo.
  23. Stats According to BBC (see attached graphic) 4 fouls - 3 bookings .... you can tell its Mr McDonald !!! :notworthy01: [attachment deleted by admin]
