I don't see why Steve Frail. I didn't think he did anything at Hearts. You can say Vlad played a big role but Frail just didn't do anything impressive in my eyes to warrant an SPL club.

When it comes to 'affording' managers, I'm not sure it would be that tough to get people like Colin Calderwood (not a bad shout) or Gary McAllister (not done enough at Leeds for me), or even Bruce Rioch. These people are either at the beginning or the end of their career. They either need a long-lasting job quickly or need to develop their careers at whatever level they can get. There are bigger names than Calderwood that start in non-League football. Being a success with an SPL club (if you don't believe you can be a success with a club, don't be a manager) must look good on the CV.

    Why?

That's what I heard people say about Brew in charge of Dundee U and Berti Vogts at Scotland. It's the same players, so what can be done? The answer became obvious. I'm in favour of a new up'n'coming manager but if the board is skittish, there's plenty more candidates with far better track records than Brewster. We know where we're going with him, so that's just not an option for many of us. I can't believe with Brew's contract running out soon that there would be too much money to lose.

Comes to something when even Harry Chibber's saying this! (to think I actually thought you were Brew or Grasser in disguise) Of candidates that may be interested: 1. Steven Pressley with Knox/McCormack/Duffy/Chisholm (preference for assistant in that order - BTW I'm assuming no return for Donald Park) 2. Robbo with Christie/Wilson 3. Not too sure, maybe Richard Gough with one of the assistants above. Maybe Bobby Williamson? Good manager but none too inspiring for the support.

<saveface>I only meant the Dunfermline games where they played St Johnstone</saveface>

Alongside Bayne? That could produce a few goals. How Bayne getting on BTW? Anyone follow St J?

As Alan Preston said 'even if they sack, Brewster, where do they go from there?' Probably said the same thing when Brew was in charge of Dundee Utd or Berti Vogts at Scotland. Pure protectionism.
  9. Tactics? What, those little sweets? I fail to see the relevance!
  10. Not losing a goal against the Dandy Dons was a good result today! (at this point, I'll take anything tenuous)
  11. Rooney with his first goal for the club. Must be. Otherwise he'd be playing more surely?
  12. YEESSS! DARGOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO....here, hang on...
  13. I wonder who Black means? Was this one of the players Robbo said he was helping? (could be anyone mind you)

If the Board had been a bit wiser and got on a longer contract, he could have been sold and a hungrier player brought in. He's obviously going to come good again but, right now, the money might have been more use. As it is, he goes for nothing (or next to). We lose out in every way.
  15. He wasn't going to stay with us once his contract was up. We are a small club and we lose our good players. That's life for all clubs like ours I'm afraid. It's almost impossible to build a team nowadays. If bigger teams than us can lose their best players oce their contracts come to an end then what chance do we have to stem the tide. He has moved to get better money and he will be playing for a bigger club. That's all there is to it. The Brewster sideshow wouldn't have changed anything. He would have left regardless, there has been plenty of interest in the guy. That's not my reading of the situation. Regular fall-outs combined with a running down of his contract to within not just the final year but within the final season of his contract. Meant he had no real option but to consider his future. Anything there to disagree with?
  16. Merry Xmas Robbo and don't take to heart what IHE says. By his own admission, he's on the wind-up most of the time. Oh, and by the way, could you start using these contacts to undermine the manager and get back in? Then it would be a Merry Xmas (go on, go on, go on, go on)
  17. Fact - His contract runs out in six months time and he can move then and take the cash Fact - his contract was allowed to run so that he only had around 3 months to go til the January window and he could negotiate with other clubs, until he was offered a contract. Fact - He was a ballboy there, his dad played there, Georgie is home. Fact - he was prepared to go to Hibs, so not really Fact - if he goes now we get money and we need it. Fact - it'll cost us a lot more if we get relegated due to our best player leaving and who can we use this pittance on to replace him like-for-like? Fact - If he has signed with his heart and not his head, like Robbo, he could regret the move. His heart would be ICT. Given he was willing to talk to Hibs, he's not leaving for sentiment. Fact - We are a selling club, this is a good piece of business. Fact - we haven't sold him. He can either go for a knock-down price in January or nothing in June/July. Fact - Brewster, for all his faults, probably played very little part in this. It would be Ian and his agent getting the best terms on offer. Fact - that's not a fact, that's a presumption. Just as I presume that had he had a better people manager and been offered a contract well before the curent's final death throws, then there would have been a good chance of him staying, given what he's said about liking the club and the place.
  18. And that's good?!
  19. I doubt it, given that both earned massive pay rises with their moves to bigger clubs. Perhaps Brewster can actually be credited with making Black a much better and more disciplined player this season. I disagree. Neither Rankin nor Black were looking for moves before Brew came. Quite the opposite. Only when the troubles started did they both have to consider other clubs.
  20. Like Rankin before him, I wish him nothing but the best and can't blame him for leaving. Mind you...Hearts...with their problems?
  21. I agree with most of what's been put on here but I don't think Hastings has been that bad and I think Imrie is better than suggested - in fact, probably our best player this season.
  22. Russel Duncan is on a long-term contract. Don't think he's anything special either myself.
  23. And the sad truth is, I still don't see where the goals will come from :thumb04:
  24. --------------------------------Esson---------------------------------- ------Tokely---------Duff----------------Munro---------Hastings---- -------------Proctor---------Duncan--------Black-------------------- ------------------------------Cowie------------------------------------ ---------------Imrie--------------------Rooney----------------------- Imrie more of a free role. Very defensive is the best we can do at the moment. I know nobody wants that but we've got Brew to inspire the team. Had a new manager come in, I feel we could have switched to a more attacking line-up with the 'up' feeling a new man brings in.
  25. Yeah, I like Calderwood as a manager too. What I'm interested to know is how Jimmy got to know about the cyber campaign. I'd be pretty doubtful he ever came here. Is Brew asking him for support? And what ever happened to Ralph Milne - the poster not the player? He's gone pretty quiet through all this.
