  1. DODDS Personally I think he decided to leave due to amount of fans that have spelt his name wrong this season... I hope Paatelainen is not so easily offended :029:

  3. Official Site Link Well done Bayne on making the 100, and it's nice to hear of a player that wants to stay at the club. Bayne provides far more than just goals for the club by defending from the front. He's had a great season and has never stopped running, great fitness levels!
  4. Of course he isn't worth the money. Do you think Rooney is worth the £30 million Man United will end up paying for him? No footballer is worth that obscene amount of money. If Rooney makes the club that sort of money during his career (which is more than likely) then he it is a sound investment, Shevchenko will give Chelsea 2 more seasons (if he is lucky) before he is punted or retires and there is no chance of him making his club anywhere near what was paid. Sheva has not had a good season but you can see from the goals he scores he still has the talent. To try and dismiss that based on him not being nominated for the PFA awards is foolhardy. You need only to look at what he has done over the years to see what an excellent player he is. Class is timeless and there is no doubting Shevchenko has it but he is running out of years and has been almost woeful at times this season. Rooney has the class, is still young and matches any striker with his current form..... if you were a manager making a decision on which player to sign who would you sign? No it isn't! :015: That's a ridiculous comparison to make given that United have done nothing for years now. Had United still been winning trophies right up until last season then had the season they are currently having then that might have been closer to the mark but what you have said is plain daft! :015: Because of Shevchenko's age he is never going to be as good as he once was, seems like a good comparison to me
  5. Birddog's Sig "Forget about who you thought you were, and just accept who you are!" :015:
  6. Why is that so laughable? Have you seen what Sheva has done and his medal haul? Top scorer in Serie A and one of the all time highest goal scorers in the CL as well as winning the competition. When Rooney has accomplished half of what Sheva has done then he might be onto something. He still has some way to go. Sheva is an outstanding striker. Rooney is just a very good one. Shevchenko was the best player in the world but since joining the EPL has been average and certainly not worth the money that was paid for him. Look at the PFA awards Shev was not mentioned in any catogories, not even the shortlists. Currently Rooney is a better player than him, better goal scoring ratio, better contribution to the team, better player. I am not saying that Rooney is the best forward in the world, for that you would look to Shev's striking partner or David Silla. To say Shevchenko is an outstanding striker is the same as saying Dundee United are still a major force in Scotland. He is no longer as good as he once was
  7. did someone not previously mention he has family in sneck?? :024: now that would be interesting :015:
  8. This does mean that even if they do go down their players are less likely to move away because of the chance to play in europe.. shame I was quite set on the idea of Burchill if Dargo leaves
  9. my hero :clapping03: :016: well said!
  10. Fair play to Dunfermline Steven Kenny was extremely emotional in the interview after, fair play to them they deserve some success this season
  11. What a fecking game, coom on Man U!! :crazy07: Get in! "Shevchenko is better than Rooney"..who said that :029: .... err No!! ... and once again Fletcher was outstanding, a hero is coming to the fold mark my works!!! (just like McAllister will be to ICT :004:)

  13. Doesn't apply to us as every player we sign turns to gold (apart from McSwgan :023: :003:)

But why give him so much stick? do you honestly believe that it will help his development? I think Agent N has got it spot on IMO, why not try and encourage him and you never know... next season he may turn into the hottest prospect in Scotland (lets face it there is not that much competition). This year Scotland has been starved with decent youth players and as soon as one turns good the offers that go on the table are incredible, if Rory has one good season he could be worth millions to the club. Is it not worth giving the boy a break and seeing what he can do with some backing for a change rather than the constant abuse. If you look down south in terms of youth development, the first thing that is noticed is physique and speed, they look for athletes because the rest of a players game, positioning, composure, finishing etc. can come with good coaching, especially for front men as this is the easiest position to play on the park. Rory's main problem (and I think this is obvious to everyone) is confidence and no wonder, he just has to have a peak on this forum and it's obvious to see the negativity.
  15. I think one of the main reasons we have been linked to Sheils in the past is because 'apparently' he has had a good working relationship with Parkie in the past. I'd love to see him at the club
  16. That's an extremely fair post Bonzo, what you had for breakfast? :003:
  17. What do you mean 'you know what some people are like?', you suggested it :015: No chance, we need to show the rest of the teams at the bottom that we are no relegation contenders for next season by getting as far away from them as possible. Could also get us another player for next season.
  18. Think he left at the time because his wife was about to have a baby and he needed the financial stability... or at least that's what he said in the papers
  19. what did Wyness do that was unprofessional?
  20. Yeh, can't really argue with anything he has said, it's makes a change to hear a player conduct himself well infront of the media. Really hope he sticks with the club

:025: :025: Well someone obviously thinks highly of him :003:
  22. .. or false hope?
  23. Yip - I feel that ICT could go a bit further afield in the transfer market. Englandshire is a pretty poor market as teams in League 1 proffer better wages than us. Jamie Cureton is probably earning as much as all our forwards combined !! The "markets" to look at is the League of Ireland and the Conference - young and experienced paddies and young and up coming from the Conference. But small team mentality persists. Agree with that, CC should stick a permanent scout across the pond, with the amount of talented youngsters that are getting picked up for peanuts!
  24. :010: Colchester are on the verge of the playoffs for the Premiership and he is also playing for the team he supports, his wages would be 3x the contract we have offered to Dargo to stay on. He is a belter of a player though but we really have no chance. It really depends who goes down, if St Mirren go I would like think we would put in a substantial bid for Sutton, if Dunfermline go then (as mentioned by 'Sir C the third' on another thread) Burchill would be an interesting option, Wilson is a possibility for centre half (although a thug). Buchanan has netted 18 goals this season and could be worth looking at, Bryan Deasley from Dundee is a very nippy young striker. I think the signing of Proctor is a done deal for cover if nothing else.
  25. Dargo gets a second... Spence isn't even watching the game a hattrick for Dargo will certainly attract some manager's attention
