  1. People who have bought the council house they rented for years and have semi-skilled jobs tend to classify themselves as middle class. This was a key group who Blair needed to reach out to in order to win in '97. Class dealignment has been going on for a long time. Margaret Thatcher even went as far as to say we live in a classless society. I take your point in regard to those who own the MoP and those who are members of the proletariat. Who actually owns the MoP today though? The men who Marx and Engels considered as owning the MoP were the factory owners etc - producing tangible, physical goods to be sold. On this basis, could people like Fred Goodwin be considered proletarian in so far as that he doesn't own the MoP?
  2. Not really Alex. I live in Edinburgh so the ?15 return from Waverley to Killie is a good deal.
  3. No to both from me. What we need is a commanding centre half who can shore up the defence.
  4. Hayek's Road to Serfdom is a book I read a while ago - I now own a copy. While I may not like what Hayek believes, I must admit that it pretty much hits the nail on the head. To talk of the working class is inaccurate. Many working class people perceive themselves as middle class, while we have a burgeoning underclass who care for little or next to nothing - let alone politics. The mainstay in many people's lives are programmes such as x factor and the like. Political ideals have no place. In this situation, there is so much apathy, many people don't care about politics and what's going on around them. In terms of people in Scotland being leftward leaning and therefore the electorate being 'to the left', I disagree. Many voted for the SNP. I don't count the SNP as a party. I view it as a politcal movement with the sole aim of destroying the United Kingdom. (I'm on the wind-up before you start!) The SNP are disparate group with voters electing representatives of all political persuasions. Fergus Ewing being one. I heard of him being referred to as being a 'tartan tory'.
  5. Going off topic here, but while I like having a laugh, a day out and cheering on the team, you have to remember you're contributing towards the coffers of other clubs in the division. On this basis; does helping the opposition financially construe not supporting ICT? When we were SPL, I didn't go to parkhead or castle greyskull on the basis that they have a disproportionate (finanical) support with all of the glory hunters they have 'following' them. In fact, this statement is untrue as I did go to the game where we lost 1-0 to Celtic as I scored free tickets. In my opinion, not going to away games - and instead spending the entrance fee I've saved in the club shop - makes me a better supporter. It would be easy not to buy a season ticket - especially as I live in Edinburgh - and just go to away games. On this basis, and considerig how important money is in the game, would this make me a good supporter of the club? If people save the pennies from travelling to away matches and buy a new top or tie or something from ICT, in my opinion, that's savvy supporting. I'm not sure why people are having a pop at one another on here. I think a great deal of tone and sarcasm gets lost in translation. My response to the op being an 'ultra' was written to be taken as a joke. Keep the personal stuff off here and be thankful that our fan site is nothing like that of the peg selling, sheep rustling unwashed caravan dwellers.
  6. On a more significant point, thats 2 wins out of 2 after Saturday.
  7. Clicky no working 12th man.
  8. Is this a hint for people to buy you a pint Johndo? :)
  9. I'm 90% + sure of making this one. Especially with the 15 quid train ticket. What's the plans? Meet up at Glasgow Central?
  10. Hope you've got it going. I'm in to CoD in a big way - but only on the PS3.
  11. In all fairness stranger things have happened, but this season is still the best chance we'll have of promotion for the next couple seasons at least (which probably doesn't say much about our chances for next season if we fail!) so I'm holding out.
  12. I finally got round to reading it. I found it an interesting read and pretty sad in parts. Saying that, Steve P had some experiences which we can only dream of. I hope his road to recovery is going well and that we'll see him back in some capacity at Caley sooner rather than later.
  13. OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!! Ain't you the 'ultra'. *yawns* Bit much having a pop on here for people not going to Airdrie. I heard 100 away fans made it - I don't think that's too bad a number considering the time of year etc.
  14. Wonder if a mod could pin this? If people can get from the north down to away games, the more the merrier.
  15. Got the Sunday Mail today. First Scotrail are doing the ?15 anywhere in Scotland again. You need tokens from the Record this week too. Just a wee heads up for everyone planning the away games coming up... Roll on the Killie!
  16. Great to get the win. Here's hoping for a win next week.
  17. I've seen it all on here now. People slagging the board, managers, players, ex players, ex managers, former board members, club officials, ex club officials and now fans. Can this become any more negative?
  18. Hi folks, if you have a look at my original post it's about the possibilties of a Highland League manager who is up and coming being able to make the grade at ICT. I understand some people are unhappy about me creating this thread - CaleyD being one insofar as his thoughts that we should be getting behind the current management team BUT my take on this is that TB and MM won't be at ICT longterm so the reasoning behind it is to gleam any info on young, ambitious managers who could move us forward. I'm reading Peles book at the moment and I admire him for writing it. I admire the fact that he is honest in it and that it casts a bigger picture of the club - our club - which is a small club has, in many ways, lost direction and in some respects ambition. There's a much bigger issue here and we've gone over it countless times on other forums. So, are there any future prospective managers who, in the long run, might fit bill?
  19. I'm planning it. I think we've got a decent chance. I think Terry's cup philosophy of having nothing to lose and for the players to go out and just enjoy the game without the pressure of picking up points is great.
  20. And on a more serious note, I glad we got a win! Does the next round match v Killie not coincide with the 'A Night to Remember' dinner though?
  21. I made the statement of doubting there would be hot food at the game on the basis of the statement in the advert posted above. Think it really appears to be poor communication on behalf of the club. I couldn't make the game even! It was decent listening to open all mics though. I didn't like the comment from one of the comments about Robbo being cut off from civilisation because of the snow though.
  22. "For this game there will be no hot food available to purchase". Does this not suggest that there was going to be no pies?
  23. Sounds like a bargain!! If there isn't any catering tonight then that will be poor show. What I find annoying is that you can't take a flask of bovril in with you and the last 2 games when I bought a bovril it was lukewarm. Poor show indeed. Hopefully it will be a good game and I'm going to follow Alternative Maryhill's idea of a couple of beers and a radio.
  24. I doubt there will be catering. I'm assuming this as I believe that the company uses staff from Edinburgh and in the e-mail from the club offering hospitality packages it states there won't be hot food on offer.
