  1. I'm genuinely surprised he's heading to AFC. I thought he'd be going south to an English Championship side.
  2. Entirely sensible points he has made in the P&J. 6 week month in terms of pay day, and arctic weather? He's spot on about January. Summer football is 100% the way forward.
  3. His team is still bottom though.
  4. Doran - and especially Christie - offer a creative spark which was desperately lacking yesterday.

    The pitch

This happened to his team when he was in change at Hibs.
  6. Agreed - and also a difficult aspect to manage within the context of the year of a footballer or indeed many other team sport players. The problem is that football has no obvious "peak" and players need effectively to be at a high level of performance for the entire season. Apart from a few weeks' pre-season, this leaves little scope to have periods of the year where players can focus on strength or top up endurance which must be a nightmare from a coaching point of view. Coming from an athletics background where you can identify a relatively small number of targeted peaks, I don't envy the dilemma of football coaches. For instance, when there is a game every weekend (and sometimes midweek) of the season which is no less important than most others, how do you programme in your SandC? At one end of the week you need some recovery from the previous match and at the other you don't want to let it run too close to the next one. The same goes for topping up aspects of running related fitness although games do contribute here, and all of this is on top of the time needed to work on teachical and team aspects of the game. On the other hand there is the option of "double sessions" which are a perfectly viable consideration for full time professionals with no constraints of a day job to manipulate training requirements round. Fascinating you focus on the physical side of things Charles. It's evident the manager knows a great deal more than you do.
  7. Old Firm? The Rangers are only 2 seasons old.
  8. Decent article about crowds from one of the DR journalists http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/david-mccarthy-gates-hell--4737398
  9. Fully agree with what Charles has said above.
  10. Off topic, but I wish the TV companies would decide which matches they want at the start of the season. A lot of our fans travel to home matches. There's nothing more frustrating than booking public transport only to find out a fixture has been shifted to a Sunday or Friday night.
  11. Land Rover > Skoda
  12. and shoot for the boot should be done with a land rover.
  13. With no football to talk about today, I've nabbed this link from P&B. Accurate description of our fans? https://yougov.co.uk/opi/profiler#/Inverness_Caledonian_Thistle_F_C/demographics
  14. With falling attendances, might be worthwhile for our club to consider giving U16 supporters free season tickets?
  15. It was interesting to chat with Motherwell fans on Twitter last night. They were of the opinion that the fan-based route their club has gone down isn't working, I wouldn't be surprised to see most clubs in Scotland operating on a part time basis in the long term.
  16. I'm of this opinion too. They do have 'fans' who boycott our ground.
  17. I'm sure RiG will be able to help you out with this if you're stuck Scarlet. He knows all about this technical stuff.
  18. Try running the link through a VPN scarlet.
  19. Scarlet, you'll get access to the highlights on the link TM4TJ has shared above before us. Worth adding the link to your bookmarks.
  20. Fully agree with everything you've written in the post above Clacher_holiday2. I couldn't make it up for the match yesterday and had to go to my local to watch it on Sky. Every screen in the pub (bar one showing our match) was on the Man U v Everton match and the commentary was on the English match too. Sad state of affairs. What's the way forward? Summer football Restructure the league set-up Clubs to work collaboratively to bring through youth players If no steps are taken, I imagine we'll see more clubs returning to being part time.
  21. Pay to get in, or watch it for nothing in a pub? TV coverage is ruining the game in Scotland. Do the revenues the clubs get from the TV companies make up for the revenue lost elsewhere? *edit* Just noticed on P&B Motherwell have launched a flex-ticket deal. Would be really good if we could have something similar http://www.motherwellfc.co.uk/2014/09/08/new-fir-park-flexi-ticket/
  22. Fully agree, Kind of Blue. The atmosphere will be awful. I'm gutted it's on the Sunday and the transport problems don't help either. I've just checked the scotrail website and there's planned engineering works: http://www.scotrail.co.uk/sites/default/files/11417PerthInvernessSept14.pdf From twitter it appears there's a lot of fans who are based in the south who won't be able to make it up now.
  23. As Nod has pointed out, there's no trains south on the Sunday. Highly doubt I'll travel up for it now.
  24. It was good last week at Fir Park. While we were seated separately, the catering and facilities were open to both sets of fans. I enjoyed the banter with the Motherwell fans.
