I have been embarrassed in the past watching ICT on the box in the company of my mates down South and have faced a lot of heckling and banter in regard to the rubbishy fare being produced - but - many last night felt that it was as good a game as they have seen all season and they picked out Warren, Meekings, Draper and Doran as their star men. I aint going to bother with individual smileys as they all deserve FIVE feckin each - and Terry B deserves SIX - one extra for having to sit beside Falconer and behind the Jeggie impersonating the Cat in the Hat - those images simply should not be shown after 9.00 pm. Reguero shall henceforth be dubbed Manuel Calder - I can see a howler coming but he is entertaining and a solid enuff stand in. Can you imagine how "proctorised" David Raven would have been if Fotheringham had scored from Raven's only mistake of the match - the good news is that Proctor never had that luck. Warren and Meekings are forming as good a central defence pairing as anywhere in the SPL. The Shinnie brothers did the Highlands and Sconnie Botland proud. Now that is how and where to play Andrew Shinnie. Draper was close to my MOM but I still have dounbts about OTJ. He had a great first 15-20 minutes but I felt that he disappeared after that. Feel sorry for Morrison but OTJ was Terry's "pick" so we have to give him a few more games. Rasatmouse was certainly introduced to a true Derby and looked bemused at times but what a world class pass he put through to Doran. Again I feel for Pepper but again he is a great stand by. Poor Richie soldiered on with an injury and probably had his most ineffective game in yonks but that was covered by Doran's mosy effective game in yonks - lets hope that my MOM now shows the consistency. Butcher played a system, a selection and an attacking style that - sorry folks - but quite a few posters have been crying out for - for a long time.

I have had a group of mates in the hoose tonite who really do take the p**s out of SPL football but they all thought that was a really entertaining though the booze was and is flowing. They all likened Tinkerville to a "poor mans Wimbledon" in the first half - not only becos of the long ball ploy but because most of their team looked liked ugly thugs - they thought that Scott was a Spock and Tokely was Uncle Fester - without prompting !! They thought that Brittain was the only class player in the team but they also liked Vigurs - well until I told them a wee story !! As fer us they worried about the "dodgy Spaniard" in goal - thought that Meekings was their MOM - impressed by Draper and Warren - and - especially the Gooner - felt that Rastamouse looked pure class - immature and should have been hooked earlier- not fit - but will be some player. As fer me - goin to get pisshhed and will do a smiley tomorrow.

I hope that the Chieftain never experiences the same fate as the old Kingsmills Stand.

Back to the naughty seventies for the old Caley v County clashes - Off to the Strath Ballroom on the Friday nite for a bit of baiting and then the train trip on the Saturday. Banned for a year by Caley officials after taking over the Jailend - but in those days the polis took you down the other end !!. Mantis may remember a Soccer Special Train for a Scottish Cup tie i Dungwall and there was the best "battle" ever in the Station Square after a Kingsmills final. And a dreary Tuesday night when we were outnumbered and ran all the way to the Station and saved by the boys in blue. As fer the football and the scores I cant feckin remember. I actually got sent off in a 2nd X1 cup final when Freddy Neild told me to put their danger man, a lanky pole on the left wing, up in the air. I did but the feckin ref - probably ADC Kidd showed me a straight red.

Exfeckinactly - one swallow does not a summer bring - but it is nice to see a swallow rather than a fat feckin seagull.What we have to aim for now is consistency. October 2012 could be our most defining month in years. There are nine potential league points a begging and that tally would really consolidate our position in the Top Six and give us the breathing space needed from the relegation zone. It could also hearld the much needed fan boost of a cup semi-final appearance. And could land Mr Butcher his first Manager of the Year award in yonks - and perhaps a player double from Foran or Roberts. Wel that would be the ideal anyway. It did frustrate me that Meekings was benched and moved to replacement full back after a good pre season at centre back. The combination with Warren is a fine blend of different styles and can only develop as they play more together. Many of us have been calling for the persisitence with Morrison that was afforded to Shane for yonks and lets hope it now happens. He may not have the pedigree of OTJ but he is a better player in the SPL. And keep Graeme Shinnie out of the central midfield mix please. I am not shure where poor Shane will fit in to things now but I feel he is the substitute/replacement for Foran in his current role. Andy Shinnie has been completely wasted this season and he will always be a better player when he is allowed to roam and come from deep. McKay is/was never a lone striker and who knows - he may have filled the role beside Foran - and perhaps that should be his forte in the future if needed. Lets not change the system at home and lets persist away from home but think more defensively when we don't have the ball.

To add a bit of controversy - would this change have happened if OTJ had'nt been sent off and Shane got injured ?
