  1. Buddha once remarked on the enormous impact of perspective on human psychology when he said, "life is a creation of the mind."Good olde Shakespeare put it this way when he said "there is nothing good or bad, but thinking makes it so." And then there is the famous saying - "what you see is what you get." What a lot of posters on here have to understand is that mvong out of the "black and white" and in to the "grey" is about accepting that how one lives their life has direct influence on how we see things around us. Perspective influences everything. We do not see our lives in purely objective terms. We are subjective creatures. We see through a filter. We have biases. As I like to say - and do on a regular basis - everyone has a personality. And that personality alters our perceptions. Introverts see life differently than do extraverts. Pessimists have a different take on life than optimists or even the rare realists (like maself). For me, the easiest way to decipher is to look at where and how the groups separately. For the most part, pessimists believe that no matter what they do things will turn out the way they will turn out. They anticipate a negative outcome so why should they spend money on technology that at the end of the day won't make a difference. So for pessimists who see the world--bah humbug and all- The people in charge had better solve the problems at hand because failure might be right around the corner. Optimists - "happy clappers" - on the other hand, think that the world is full of opportunity so despite what they see in front of them they will shoot for the stars. The people in charge are viewed as being geared toward innovation because they recognize that the world as it exists today could be much much better tomorrow so why not get ready for it now. Somewhere in the middle sit the realists who are--not surprisingly--often the most difficult to define much less analyze. Realism is not as easy as the half full or empty glass because every analysis is dependent on the changing situation at hand. Understanding the people in charge for realists is more difficult because they are driven by changing dynamics that determine if they solve for today or solve for tomorrow. Tell ya what try two things - try and respond to Mannie's post with a combination of negatives and positives. Then test yerselves (especially the angry Lybster loonie) http://psychologytoday.tests.psychtests.com/take_test.php?idRegTest=1320
  2. Do you really know anything about anything..or are you just really good at googling? If you want to discuss narcissistic tendencies....we can always start with your posts on this forum, in which you sneer at everybody you perceive as being less intelligent than yourself...can we not.because the definition seems to describe you very well. Oh dear me - hope you feel better after projecting all that internalised anger. I suspect that I must represent a domineering male figure from your past. My sincere apologies if I released some repressed memories or emotions. Suggest you may read up a little about narcississm and leave the formulating and "teaching" to professionals like maself.
  3. Follows in the footsteps of Robbie Winters, David Hannah, Derek Young and even Lee Sharpe and the current squad contains Paul McShane (ex Rangers), Scott Ramsay and Jordan Edridge (ex Buxton). The manager Thordarson has also had spells with Stoke, Barnsley, Notts County and Crewe. This can only be to the benefit of Gavin and ICT.
  4. I may be hoping against hope but - should the lessons have been learned looking back to our last visit to Rugby Park and the formation and style of play that probably led to our best performance of the season and tactically tore Kilmarnock apart - 4-3-3 or "loose" 4 - 4 - 2 and attack. That would mean potentially playing Hayes and Doran wide , with Tade and McKay up front (although I would prefer Shane) and with Jones and Foran (would TB drop Tansey ?) holding the middle. The back five surely picks itself. And why bother playing anybody - including the loanees - where there is no chnace of them returning next season.
  5. I doubt if it turned out to be a surprise - just like Tokely following in the footsteps of Munro will not be a surprise - or Butcher finding a role in the pending Glasgow City Rangers regime.
  6. The glass is "half full" for all of us and the perception is dependent on the degrees of optimism and pessimism of the individuals. I am unfortunately, and unusually, feeling on the pessimistic side and I am concerned that the glass may not fill up. I actually do think that we have the basis of a decent squad of players and it is fairly evident what positions we need to fill - irrespective of whether it is loanees or not. The rivalry with Tinkerville will probbly heap more pressure on ICT to improve markedly. My concern is in respect of the coaching and tactical aspect of the club and that is not directly pointing the finger at TB. The first thing that we need to do is toss out Malpas and get in a coach with a fitness and skills background. I have been waiting for some "cracks" to show in TB's personna but that has not happened and that really concerns me. I feel that basically he isnt going to change and therefore neither will the style of the team. We either need somebody to stand up and be directly critical of TB (behind closed doors of course) and it was very interesting to see Sutherland actually fire a shot in public. Bdu was spot on with - "Survival and building a sound financial base with good cup runs is what we should be looking to and I'd rather see more effort and emphsais on the cups as in Scotland its the only chance us provincial teams have of glory." - That is what I was looking for at the beginning of this season - a season of consolidation and experiment - the pressures decree that such an intent is not possible next season. Then Bdu added - " if in 12 months we are having a similar discussion then perhaps its time to question TB as manager" - again that is what I was thinking at the beginning of this season. Mahonio - "grasshopper" - "Faith is believing in something when common sense tells you not to."
  7. The points merely reflect the standard of performance. The target initially raised for this season was a top six finish. A team inevitably have to be judged on the end result and so does the manager.
  8. You can all argue and defend as much as you want but I am afraid that Sorted has got it totally bang on. Lets look at what the textbook says: People with narcissistic tendencies have errors in thinking which prevents them from seeing things how they are from both sides of the picture. Not wanting to feel bad inside, they build defenses such as denial, repression and a strong need to be right. When the person has severe traits, they can feel an increase in self-esteem when they get what they want and feel no remorse or justify their using others. Some even get a sense of feeling superior when they get their way or make others feel bad. This is the dynamic underlying bullying. People with narcissistic behavior cannot handle criticism in any way and feel that they are being made wrong. . They are supersensitive to criticism and either attack the other person or they leave the scene. This blaming the person who gives criticism helps the person with narcissistic defenses avoid feeling guilt, shame and depression but it also keeps them from taking responsibility for learning from their mistakes and ultimately from growing up. They can pout and give the silent treatment or hold grudges.
  9. This is ridiculous and the truth has to be made known. There is clear evidence from Sherriff Court records that a Mr. Russel Duncan and a Mr. Grant Munro were granted a "stay away" restraining order to refrain a Mr Terry Butcher from going within a mile of the Tulloch Caledonian stadium on Sunday 22nd April 2012. The motion for a preliminary injunction was witnessed by a Mr David Sutherland. I also understand that Mr Butcher was assisting in the after party clear up of the Abriachan Forest Festival and was quoted as saying "Cant see the difference. It is a case of dead wood in both instances".
  10. In the days of the Howden End, Elgin were the "enemy" and the clashes between Caley and Elgin were real derby affairs. Caley and Clach often teamed up together if Elgin were in town or it was an away midweeker or cup tie in Elgin. Caley and Thistle was more of a polite banter affair. Ross County were "also rans" as we could meet them up the Strath every weekend !! Can only remember one football special to Dungwall in the seventies but countless to Hellgin. Used to have more of a rivalry with Huntly as well. My particular memory of Dungwall was a full house Scottish Qualifying Cup game when we took over the Jail End.
  11. Sutherland dissing Butcher in public - now that is interesting !!
  12. He that is good for making excuses is seldom good for anything else - Benjamin Franklin
  13. Yip - he was on a six month contract and turned up on his first day in a spanking new mercedes and a saville row suit !! I recall at the time wondering how he would fit in !!
  14. Lets change the feckin drift on here - what are YOUR fave Russeldhino and Granty moments. For me it was Russel's goal against Dungdee at Tannadice plus his style of chastising team mates that made Foran look like a feckin choir boy. And Granty's goal and celebration against Queen of the South in the season we got promoted plus he ALWAYS came and acknowledged the away fans, irrespective if there was 20 or 1000 of us. Thanks fer the memories lads.
  15. It shurely has to be a MacDonald ?
  16. Perhaps Terry was Beyonce ?
  17. Feck me - we are making excuses for TB now !!! Like I said his personality would not allow it and there is undoubtedly a refined excuse coming up in Tuesday's Courier.
  18. At the end of last season that is what I actually said about this one - it was a year to re-stock - sure we have had a lot of bad luck but the chopping and changing hasnt helped and we DO need a footballing coach.
  19. It actually is a sad state of affairs when many of us are staying away. In many ways I feel embarrassed by the fact that I decided a few weeks ago that this season was over for me - and I cant totally believe that. I took ma missus and ma wee one to Livingston shopping this weekene when I would usually be motoring up and down the A9. I am going to miss my first Killie away game in years cos I am going to a retirement party in Preston. Then I am going to World Rugby Sevens on May 5th instead of another of my faves - Midden. And I am missing the last game of the season for the first time in years and coming up to Sneck later in the month. And it aint totally down to the spondoolachs. I am afraid that the standard of the SPL in general has dipped markedly. Appart from drubbing Killie and pinching a point at Muvversmell I feel that ICT have been simply awful this season. I have said all I have to say about TB - and many who chastised me are now singing from the same song book - but this has been an equally awful season for bad luck, we are playing what I would call some "mercenaries" and some "favoured". But our tactics, selections and formations have been rank rotten. I was half hoping for TB to mellow and take some of the criticism but unless he walks - which for a narcissist is highly unlikely - we are stuck with him for next season. I really hope that we prioritise pre-season for training etc., we get rid of some of the flotsam, we utilise the players like Doran and Shinnie - who will almost be like new signings - and if we need to go to loans they are considered and not reactive. I have to totally disagree with CD's statement as the writing was on the wall from pre season and the opening game at Muversmell. See you all next season comrades - or should I say pre season !!
  20. No comment - said it all - originally - about six months ago.
  21. Come on - give Butcher a break - you have to take Terry's personality and past decision making in to consideration - he would have been demoted to a bystander and may have had to face some questioning about whteher he had any regrets about the Munro dumping. Narcissists avoid such contacts. Cant wait to hear his excuse - will he blame the missus, the dogs etc., etc. ??
  22. And Adam Rooney has been in the bath with Marlon King.
  23. Lets hope that sentences are not lessened
